What are your thoughts or fears of Halo 4??

My thoughts are that it looks like an overall amazing game with very minor issues through my perspective.

{The Good:}

  1. Campaign:: The Halo 4 campaign will most likely be awesome since there’s a lot to talk about now such as the Spartan IVs, John 117, Cortana, the new main Characters, and the fact that it’s a Halo campaign made by 343 a reliable developer for the Halo franchise.

  2. Spartan Ops:: This is just plain awesome and will expand the Halo story even after we’re done with the campaign with cinematic co-operative missions so story/single player lovers wont feel bad after they finish the campaign.

  3. Multiplayer Weapon Variety:: Now in Halo 4 War Games we will be able not only to use the BR and Carbine or the DMR and NR but not we will have four headshot rifles to choose from (Light Rifle, DMR, BR, and Carbine.) We will also be able to choose out of three Assault Rifle Styled weapons and the same goes for Sniper Rifles and Rocket Launchers.

  4. Health Bar:: I’m glad that Halo 4 will not have the Health Bar anymore. I know I’m stating my opinion right now but I really enjoy faster paced gameplay where I don’t have to go around picking up Health Packs.

  5. Armor Customization:: I really love that Halo 4 will now have such good armor customization since in previous Halo games i found myself looking similar to most of the other players. I would really enjoy armor DLC after the game releases just to freshen up the game experience.

  6. Graphics:: I never really judge a game for its visuals but I really do prefer playing a game that pleases my eyes and Halo 4 does just that so thats another positive.

  7. Flood Mode:: I really am going to enjoy the flood mode I’ve always wanted this mode to be included in Halo. (As long as we can also customize the weapons they use.)

  8. Victory Cams:: I like the fact that the last kill is shown off to everyone in the game.

  9. Halo Gameplay:: I’ve never payed the game but people keep mentioning how it still plays like Halo and that it’s fluid and perfect.

{Bonuses:}

  1. Objective Gametypes:: I like the Oddball and Griffball changes. (Aslong as we can play the Classic versions as well.)

  2. Classic??::I would simply love it if we had Halo 2/3 style classic playlists. (I’ve heard rumors that they will include these but I’m not exactly sure if its true or not.)

{The Bad:}

  1. Killcams:: I have never been a fan of Killcams when I tried out CoD years ago and I dislike that game. I never really found any use to it especially since people never camp in Halo unless they have sword or shotgun(Which is usually temporary camping). I am also going to miss the hilarious -Yoink!-. I know some people get mad when people -Yoink!- but honestly it’s a game and you could always do the same to them. I would also prefer it if my opponents would not learn from my victories.

  2. Support/Tactical Packages:: I never really liked this as soon as i heard of it. It is a game changer no matter how balanced they try to make it. I know I’m going to get hate out of this one but it’s the truth. We should all spawn with the same odds to kill the opponent as they should with us. This just causes people to make excuses after one team beats the other and Halo has always been about perfect balance in the past games.

  3. NO FIREFIGHT:: I really liked Firefight no matter what anybody says. I know Spartan Ops is awesome but I play Firefight just to kill AI and warm up before I play matchmaking. I’m really disappointed that Firefight isn’t back i really wanted to face The Flood in Firefight.

  4. No Flood:: LOLOL I know nobody really liked fighting the Flood but I truly did they mixed things up even though they got annoying.

{What I really want but most likely wont happen:}

  1. Species Selection in Custom Games and Forge:: I would really enjoy this in a Halo game. My favorite Halo species are the Brutes and i would really love to play as them at least in Custom Games and Forge. But it will also be awesome if we could play as Hunters, Elites, Grunts, Skirmishers, etc.

{REMINDERS:}

  1. Opinions:: This is all my opinion try not to judge me or anybody else for it.

  2. Share your own opinions:: I would like to see what other Halo fans feel about this since Halo is my favorite franchise I love talking and reading about it.

{EDIT}:: Something I would really like to see come back for Halo 4 is the MVP notification or medal from Halo 3.

I really can’t give any nitpicks untill I play the game, but from what i’ve seen it looks ok.

The good: Everything about the game.

The Bad: 343’s marketing of the game. (specifically pre-order bonuses and the watered down LE.)

The ugly: the community.

Hmph, what marketing? I have only seen one Halo 4 ad at the NBA finals.

But the game looks to be the best Halo yet.

So everything is perfect?? Theres nothing missing?? Nothing bothering you or making you guys skeptical??

Im worried about the match up people system (I hope that they make a good ranking system.

The only thing I didn’t like about Halo 4 so far was how 343 marketed the game. I go through so much trouble pre-ordering the Limited Edition and they devalue it more and more!

The Bad: I was hoping for a faster and somewhat smaller mech. I’ve been spoiled by Armor Core and the Jetbots. I’ll grow to love the Mantis, but really I wasn’t pining for the War Machine from War of the Worlds to go lumbering by.

The Good: Spartan Ops and the thought of going into differing worlds and environments facing various missions and situations throughout the year.

The Ugly: What the community will do to completely make this game unplayable as well as a frustrating burden every match. I can just imaging the scope of team betrayals that will mount due to players snagging of the Mantis, let alone the constant bickering and comparisons to former games and how it doesn’t live up or it’s a clone of another title.

Bring on the Promethean, my Limited Brothers and Sisters need to kill them.

Agreed good post!

Headshots with BR being to easy thus lowering skill gap. I think I am the only one in the world concerned about that, but that is because I think a headshot should require aiming at the head to achieve

I am worried that the game will make me cry
I don’t want to see Cortana die :frowning:

Honestly, no. I’ve played the game and it played to, and beyond, my expectations. Overall I am liking what I hear about the game itself.

That’s another thing. 343 has yet to make a real badass gameplay trailer. I know it’s still a month from release, but I can name sooo many other games that have had a awesome gameplay trailer (The accolades trailer doesn’t count. Neither do the BTS’.)

But as far as the actual marketing goes: this pretty much sums it up: 343 said we would have an easy choice. Do we want limited or standard? Then out of the blue they announce several different pre-order bonuses, the console edition, and a separate map pass that receives exclusive content than the LE’s Map pass. The LE is gradually growing less interesting in quality since, outside of it’s trinkets and exclusive recruit and AR skin (skin NOT armor) it would be better to buy the standard and map pass on the side for more in-game content.

I think that 343i is taking the franchise in an interesting direction, and most of my concerns are mere minutia. I’d bet money that Halo 4 will be a good game, but I think that at the same time, it will have some notable flaws.

Here are the seldom-discussed ones, for variety’s sake:

Active Roster
In Halo 4, the Active Roster will be hidden behind a button. In my opinion, this destroys most of its utility. The benefit behind the Roster was that you could hop into Reach with the intention of playing alone, but then you just happen to see some friends in a party, and so you change your plans and join them. That won’t happen in Halo 4.

Gametype scripting
There needs to be a scripting engine for gametypes, and it needs to be at least as capable as Megalo.

Megalo was Reach’s gametype engine. It made it possible to bugfix and extend existing gametypes, and create brand new gametypes – all without the need for a Title Update. Furthermore, being able to assign Megalo labels to any Forge object opened up a huge range of possibilities. AFAIK 343i hasn’t confirmed that these features will return, and I’ll be sorely disappointed if they didn’t make the cut.

Lightmapping
Will items that spawn after a delay cast and receive shadows properly? Or will they be lit with the old lighting system or – even worse – cast shadows before they actually spawn?

Also, how many dynamic lights will be afforded to us? Casting shadows is cool, but it could easily kill indoor maps if we can’t add lights. 343i could indirectly solve the problem by placing a limit on how dark a shadow can get, but that would kill a number of interesting possibilities and greatly limit the artistic potential afforded by dynamic shadowing.

Flood
The game mode itself is looking amazing, but the settings shown pre-release concern me. Zombies with Thruster Pack (read: “Evade that can fly”) and Camo? Humans with Hardlight Shield? That’s going to be extraordinarily difficult for them to balance, and quite difficult for anyone to Forge for.

Armour lock coming back from the grave… shivers at the thought of it

The one at that thing that millions of people watch?

I have to say, i agree 100% on what you wrote. Especially Firefight. It will be missed but think about it. We have Spartan Ops, similar to Firefight but with an objective.

The bad:

The fact that kill cam removes tea bagging :’(

the good: the multiplayer. besides the lack of a mark V helmet not much is bothering me.

My fears: the campaign. i’m pretty much skeptical about everything here. haven’t really relaxed about it yet.

Nope, I think it’s going to be the best Halo yet. Btw, marketing/advertising will start soon.

Who cares about tea bagging. Shoot em and thats it. end of story. Its a waste of time humping on someones corpse.
