What are your thoughts on yoinking/yoinkers?

I think it’s an okay sport. Assassinations aren’t that good, and people who get them typically aren’t in it for their team. So, naturally, I go around and yoink them. I remember I was the number 1 in yoinks per game ratio on halocharts for a long time… I may still be. I loved the good ol’ days of hockey the most. My proudest achievement was with 6 yoinks… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFJYBarvcTw would be it.

What do you guys think of yoinking/yoinkers?

I dont like it, because when people yoink me, rather than killthe enemies shotting me it gets on my nerves, especially wehn we both die in the end because they sat ther and killed the guy i had worked to kill while we both get pulvarized.

It sucks.

People will (and do) regret yoinking me.
I will betray the yoinker ASAP, then follow them around for the rest of the game with a plasma pistol, leaving their shields down as long as I can, when they die, I find them again once they respawn and repeat.
If you go out of your way to be a -Yoink-, I’ll return the favor.
Once upon a time I was ranked #49 in the world on Halo Charts Competitive Assassinations. Then I got a job… But I still take my assassinations seriously.

If my assassination gets yoinked, I don’t care. It is just one kill, and there are plenty to go around. If I see somebody in the process of an assassination, I t-bag next to them.

i love yoinks. i don’t have all that many cause i usually don’t care enough to yoink but i did have a game of invasion a long time ago where i had 9 yoinks. there were two guys on the other team not playing and my teammate kept trying to assassinate them as they spawned and i kept yoinking him everytime it was fantastic.

> I HATE GETTING YOINKED! Assassinations are awesome and it pisses me off when a team-mate goes and yoinks my kill. It’s okay on Rumble Pit but when a team-mate steals my assassination I get pissed.

it isn’t your kill, its your teams kill, playing selfishly in a team game is bad and stupid.

Was it the Teams head shot? Do they divide up the ratio of medals every round? Did the Team assassinate someone?

No, b/c it’s still a game in the end.

More on the point, they would assign TEAM Medals if this were the case. Team game doesn’t mean that a player is suddenly insignificant without the entire team.

It’s the Team’s SCORE. Not the Team’s Kill.

the point from the kill goes towards the team, it also speads up gameplay from allowing teams to move on from the person instead of having a guy sit there waiting for the assassination to end while the person he is assassinating calls out …

yoinking is teamwork, 1 person holds him down the other person kills him, the result from this teamwork results in a point for the team and a fast kill.

This, by accident is one thing, when someone does it intentionally is what irritates me.

You are 100% correct. If I am in the middle of killing someone and another selfish teammate yoinks my kill, that is unsporting and the teammate is not a team player. When an opponent is being assassinated, they are immobilized, they are a stupid easy shot for anyone with a DMR or a Sniper. Only a yoink hole would intentionally focus ALL of their attention away from the battlefield to steal a teammates kill. If I am in the MIDDLE of an assassination and someone walks up out of nowhere and shoots my victim in the head, that is the poorest example of teamwork. Why take the time to kill someone I am ALREADY killing? they could be off taking care of other opponents instead of SELFISHLY stealing a kill, an easy kill. Yoinking is not teamwork and it is selfish, so you are 100% correct sir.

Yoinking is hilarious.

ditto… I do it accidentally sometimes but NEVER on purpose

It all depends. If you see me assassinating and purposely yoink me, and are not a friend of mine in the first place, I may just end up making the rest of your game non-enjoyable.
Yoinking happens just like betrayals, if they’re innocent, they just happen and I forgive.
If you’re looking to ruin my fun at the cost of your ego, I will find a new way of having fun at your expense instead of mine

If someone yoinks my kill in a team game on purpose, I tend to do the best I can to ruin there game, even at the expense of losing the game for my team. If they get shot by an enemy I kill them, its not counted as a betrayal if an enemy gets a single shot. Otherwise I just follow them breaking their shields for the rest of the match. If they betray me because of this I instinctively boot them. Karma is a -Yoink-. Steal my assassination and I will ruin your game.

Playing a multiteam game, or a free for all? Yoink away. (That is, if the guy doing the assassination is not on your team in multiteam)

But if you’re on the verge of getting killed, and a teammate makes a timely save with an assassionation? Let them have it, please? They just saved your life. That being said, if I were on the verge of killing my enemy and someone started assassinating, I’d probably finish the job.

I’ve heard all kinds of excuses for yoinking, that it ‘doesn’t matter who gets the kill as long as they’re killed’, among others. If that’s true, and the guy is currently BEING killed, why not leave him alone and focus on other, more lethal targets? It’s just a copout for kids to pad their stats.

it really all depends, yoinking can be selfish and can’t, if you’re assassinating someone and there is no danger in sight then the person that yoinks you is being selfish, his time could be better spent helping another teammate gain a kill, how ever, if you are in danger or he might need your help then yoinking your kill kills the person quicker allowing you to go and help him win his current battle or so that you can defend yourself.

i’ve never come a person on my team that goes out of his way to yoink me, though, i’ve had funny instances where a person on the other team tries to yoink his teammate that is assassinating me yet instead betrays him letting me survive.

I hate getting yoiked and try not to, but it is my kill because I made it so he/she could not defend their self while I stab them to death

Yoinking me in any free for all games is ok.
Yoinking me in any team games is NOT ok! I can tell if its an accident or on purpose for the “Yoink”. When some team mate yoinks me… i follow them betray the yoinker to get him/her to betray me back until i get the chance to boot him/her

In team games it all counts toward the same score, so it doesn’t matter who finishes them off. However, It can be hilarious listening to some people’s reactions when they get yoinked.
