What are your opinions on the Spartan IV's?

Exactly what it says on the tin, what are your opinions of the Spartan IV’s? Now I’m talking about from a story point, not a gameplay point.

Not much has been revealed about the IV’s aside from the fact that they are no longer abducted children or child volunteers. They’re adult ex-soldiers like marines, ODST’s and army troopers.
Personally I’m not sure if I like that. I’ve always loved the dehumanisation of the spartans as they never really act like people. they were always just machines, bred for war, the perfect soldiers. But because the IV’s are adults, they’ll have history, families, close friends, emotions etc. Of course I can’t come out with a detailed opinion yet until I’ve played spartan ops but I’m sure we’ll learn a lot about them there and I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m also not sure how many IV’s there actually are, but I assume its in the mid to low hundreds, which would still probably mean that only the best of the best were chosen.

The IV’s also move as fast and seem to be as strong as the chief in multiplayer. Does this mean that they have been augmented and upgraded? Is it possible now? 30 years ahead and contact with highly advanced forerunner and covenant technology makes me wonder if the augmentations have been refined and improved so that adult humans can survive them 100% of the time. After all, the success rate in Spartan III augmentation was 100% and as far as I know, the augmentations had almost identical effects with a much lower failure rate.

This was a bit lengthier than I expected (Thats what she said), but let me know what you think guys

They are awesome.

I hate all the helmets.

I love them.

And Scout is back!!!

Love 'em.

Very interesting in concept, but I hope they don’t pull canon out of thin air to make up for them. It will take a really good story basing for me to go along with another set of Spartans.

This ^^^^^^

And the helmets are awesome IMO.

Dude have you even seen any of them?

they are a step up from spartan 3’s but not from spartan 2’s

I did, I was at the E3.

Seeing them was definently worth the waiting.

the helmets feels like an horror movie charter!

Yeah the abducted children thing really added to the story. I mean here you are all badass and saving the galaxy n -Yoink-, but you’re doing it for a sick dystopian government who kidnaps children to genetically alter and train for mass murder. You never really knew whether you were a hero or villain… and maybe the covenant were right, maybe we are unfit to live.

It was either that or Humanity had been slaughtered by the Covenant.

Sure the child abductions aren’t great, but they were nessecary, besides the parents got a Clone in return.

I wish I had a clone to send to work.

I just want a helmet that resembles a more traditional full face visor as opposed to the goggle look we have now.

Didn’t the spartan and child abducting begin prior to the covenant war? Therefore we were already pretty sick. My point is that we DESERVED to be slaughtered by the covenant. Humanity in the Halo universe is pure evil.

At least prior to Halo 4.

youve seen every single helmet in the game?

No? i didn’t think so

Yes I have, they all look like the Dead Space helmet except one.

I agree with you. The spartan II’s and III’s were purely bred for war with no weakness, these spartan ivs haven’t had as much specialist training but have had other training and experience, but their previous lives before becoming spartans could affect their choices and decisions which is their main weakness. Overall in my opinion they will not be as good or effective as the previous classes of spartans.

I love them!
