What Are Your Opinions On the Overshield?

Opinions on OS in this game?

I feel like the only real use for it is to dive behind cover when you’re one shot pop it to heal, and get that one ambush kill with it. It feels like you get melted about as fast and there isn’t a long enough invinciblity frame for me. I would take camo over it any day.

To be clear I’m not calling it useless or even underpowered. It’s just underwhelming in a role that is traditionally very important. It’s still worth challenging an enemy team to control, of course.

the OV and AC should activate immediately. Right now you can hold it, start a fight, then pop it from cover. Thats dumb

i havent really “milked” that ability, but I´d seen some plays really awesome at least taking 2 before it melt

That is pretty annoying. I abuse it like crazy and it doesn’t feel Satisfying like it probably should

I like the gimmick of being able to pocket it, but it’s quite annoying when you can pop it to survive practically any encounter, makes the fight feel cheap

I’m mostly impartial at the moment, not really sure what to think,

yesterday i had camo, didnt pop it for a while, another spawned, i poped my camo, grabbed another and was invis for a full minute. Extremely overpowered in ranked. Imagine doing that with 2 ovs

Do the OVs stack? I haven’t tried to use one, pick another up and use it too

I personally think if they just disabled passive overshield drain it would fix the issue with the ability feeling weak.

Overshield works great.

Active camo on the other hand is god tier

Ability feels weak. I personally don’t use it, and it’s not even exciting to pick up.

Both are rather interesting.

Overshield, you can either pop it instantly and get a battle boos, or use it as a med kit. making it highly valuable in a fire fight.

Active camo, though that is more a pop instantly especially if their is a sword on the map. That said delayed activation is extremely useful in capture the flag maps, as you can pick up the flag and be completely invisible with it.

I didn’t even think about a well timed OS allowing for a full refill mid fight. I am generally too afraid to be caught in an animation lock but that is a very potent bonus.

I’ve personally found the Overshield to be an easy way for me to get multi-kills and sprees. I guess it’s just in how you use it, I guess.

It’s not supposed to be an impenetrable shield. What it does is give you twice as many health resources for a limited time, so that you can more easily out-tempo your opponent. Risky positions and poor decisions are temporarily punished less. It can completely turn a fight around.

I did some testing, and the best feature is that it saves you from one sniper bullet Or one skewer shot or one rocket. Most everything else is negligible in how much it helps you. You can kill someone with Overshields with a single AR magazine for instance. It’s weak but tactically useful. That being said, giving it like a 2-3 second invincibility frame would make it way more useful without it being overpowered. It never seems overpowered in Halo 3 and that’s how it works there

Underwhelming. It traditionally was a powerful offensive tool that could break stalemates. The strength of the shield combined with it degrading over time forced you to use it offensively to get the most out it. It working as soon as you touched it also meant that map design played into countering it.

Now, it’s a glorified “medpack” that gets overwhelmed by basic teamshot. Someone popping it around a corner after you put shots into them, and resetting the engagement is frustrating, but it’s the most “useful” way to use it. Having to juggle it into your equipment slot is annoying, and watching an animation before it works makes the very act painfully awkward and slow for no real reason.

Traditional OV is superior by a mile. If they reintroduced it, and retooled the current equipment version of it into something like a stimpack that jumpstarts your shield recharge instead, I’d like it a lot more. It’d more in line with other equipment, and therefore wouldn’t need a lengthy respawn timer.

yeah they stack, you can pop one, pick up another and pop it later

sprinting itself ruins engagements
