What are your guesses to Infinte's install size?

It’s actually one of the things I’m very much dreading about the game, since the Master Chief Collection is less than a gig from Halo 5…6 games takes up barely a gig more than one game!? I can only imagine Infinite being something crazy like, 175 gigs -_-…This just makes me miss the X-Box 360 days where you can play a game off the disc without worrying about this type of thing =/

Well, on the 360, games were roughly 7-8 GB’s, so, Halo: CEA and Halo 2A might be more like 10 a piece or more (I’m unsure) but Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST are probably 8 GB’s each and Halo 4 might be between 8 and 10 while Reach is about 9 I think. So that’s a potential 55-57 GB’s not including the maps and what not plus the different Forges.

Most games today are about 40 or so GB’s minimum for just the game which might increase if MP things like maps are added.

I’d say expect Halo: Infinite to be about 70 GB’s or so. And honestly, we’re better off not going back to the 360 days because back then, load times were awful. Having the game downloaded to your system decreases load times and I think decreases lag issues.

I feel 70GB is low balling it, since Halo 5 is 97.4BG =/

To @FatherlyNick having decreased load times and lag issues is a plus, but man do I hate how much space games take nowadays. Like, why even have a disc. if you just end up downaloding the game anyway?! Sorry, I’m getting a bit off topic there -.-

Agreed. Just downloaded the game, there’s not much benefit to disks except that you can break it, if that counts.

I’m not that worried, as consoles are getting more and more storage space. Even if your do run out, hard drives exist.

And more storage space means it will cost more money, especially if you get hard drives e.e

I’m guessing around 50-70gb to start and then that’ll grow as they released updates. Unless the new engine has some magic way of keeping the file size down better, I’m not sure how that works.

I think we can expect halo infinite at a minimum of 70gb starting out. Not including day one updates/patches.

but it should be well over 100gb at some point. Halo 5 is right at that 100gb mark. So I’d imagine infinite will hit 130 at some point

It’ll probably be different per platform. I’d be surprised if it comes in at under 80gb on Xbox One, and can imagine it clocking at over 100GB on Scarlett considering the extra performance and graphical optimization stuff.

Hm, yeah you’re right. If Halo 5 is almost 100GB, I think Halo Infinite will be well over 100, easy. As for discs, it’s still an executable for the game if you don’t connect to the internet. It has a place until digital version will get treated the same as physical version.

Yeah, but Halo 5 is like 4 years old and has gone through quite a few updates and added content since then. It started out between 50-70 I believe, so to start, Infinite will likely be about 70 minimum and increase over time as more content is added.

I have read that Project Scarlet will have a 2 TB solid state drive to accommodate the growing sizes of games. Based on Halo 5 being around 100 GB (I believe), I would assume a similar storage size for Halo Infinite.

One thing I would consider, however, is that Slipspace is totally redesigned and might allow for more efficient optimization and storage usage. I recall that for Halo 5, the original Halo CE engine was heavily modified and difficult to work with. This is likely why Halo 5 is such a big game; there is a lot of wasted space.

Slipspace will probably save space when compared the old engine because it is optimized for today’s generation of games and is not burdened with years and years of outdated code, etc.

Either way, I’m excited for Infinite and it’s probably going to be pretty large.

I really hope so, if only because my internet not being the best, so all these large install sized games take quite a while to download. Sucks even more when I play after the long wait, just to be met with disappointment.

yeah, but don’t forget 1 part of that 97.4gb is reserve space,

I’m thinking the 4K version will be around 200gigs and the non 4k one will be about 120-140gigs.

Regardless, I think Halo infinite will be a very large game. Especially if it launches complete :wink:

I think initially, it will be upwards of 80 GB. But by the end of 2021. Expand to 120 GB. But Xbox Scarlett could change that. It may be less. While graphics get better so does the coding. And the hardware capable to run the code. I don’t expect a big change in size comparisons to todays games. I say max 110 GB after full download on Scarlett, 95 GB on XOne X. 85 GB on XOne S and I doubt it will run on OG XOne very well. XCloud should run it easily. PC may be looking at closer to 115 GB and up. But hey, who knows?

Halo 5 comes in at near 100GB, so I imagine Halo Infinite would be more than that. Perhaps 125GB to 150GB
