What Vehicles do you think 343 should add, take away, or keep in? Let me know I’m genuinely interested! I think they should add every Vehicle that ever existed in a Halo game! I want more variety. Especially in air vehicles! Like flyable Pelicans, or Phantoms. I think it would also be crazy if there were more types of Warthogs, Mongooses. All covenant ground vehicles should be back. And maybe some some styles of amphibious watercraft. IDK. But I would definitely like to see the Mammoth back.
Yes, they need at least a ground Promethean tank, or light vehicle.

Yes honestly they do. My man they need a better Navy and stuff. I know they can teleport but it still doesn’t make sense to me how they held out against the Covenant and UNSC. How is the only vehicle they have a Phaeton? Give the Prometheans a chance 343!
Improved Vehicle AI, Vehicles tend to stay static and act more like big dogs than patrol or assault positions.
Flood Vehicles? Well I know flood could drive vehicles in H2 but maybe have vehicle sized flood, The tank form in H3 was more of a Hunter than a Vehicle.
Humans:
-
Mongoose - Warthog - Scorpion - Grizzly - Elephant - Wasp - FalconCovenant:
-
Ghost - Revenant - Wraith - BansheePromethean/Created:
-
Phaeton - Recon vehicle comparable to a warthog or ghost - Tank comparable to a scorpion or wraith - Goblin (the Grunts finally have a dedicated vehicle lol)
-Return to the Halo 3 system for vehicle health. The system we’ve had since Reach onward has been god awful.
-Bring back some asymmetry to vehicle design. The X Faction equivalent of Y Vehicle is boring game design. I don’t want to see a “Forerunner Tank” if it is just going to be another version of the Scorpion and Wraith. Reach was one of the best for(with the exception of tanks) creating unique and interesting vehicle matchups that weren’t just following the same old formulas that make new additions like the Phaeton and Wasp so boring. The Falcon and Revenant for example were a much more interesting contrast to the Banshee and Warthog than the Hornet and Spectre/Prowler were before them.
-The Mantis needs a serious redesign to make it something other than a Walking tank. I’d same goes for Wraith/Scorpion needing replacement with a new vehicle or a serious role change.
I’m thinking of writing a longer post about this at some point but basically bring back locust and make it a support vehicle that encourages team work.
Give it a bubble shield kind of shield (like in halo wars 1) which is large enough to let your teammates hide inside it. So you can give both cover and supressing fire to your team. Without/ inside of the shields it could be pretty fragile vehicle.
I’d love to see the Brute Prowler and Chopper come back into play- both are wicked fun to operate, especially the Chopper! I love how the Chopper was a total vehicle-killing machine and the aesthetic of those Brute vehicles was just awesome. Wouldn’t make much sense if we don’t see Brutes back in some capacity, but I’d like to. Seeing the Revenant back would also be cool- it fills a fun and unique niche as well.
As far as what they ought not bring back- I’m not really in favor of having as many different versions of the same vehicles as Halo 5 does in Warzone. Drives me a little crazy to have to constantly think about what kind of Banshee/Mongoose/Ghost etc I want to take for a joyride. Originally I know Warthogs led the charge for all the variety with Gauss, Rocket, and standard hogs, but I think they’ve taken the idea a little too far. The one exception that I really like is the Gauss Scorpion, so I won’t complain if that one makes its way back!

I would love to see all the previous halo vehicles return that would be complete chaos in btb and if we deal with the promethians give them other vehicles as well instead of the phaeton
- Cyclops - Jackrabbit - Grizzle - Vulture - Elephant - Hawk - HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark I ADS - Falcon - Revenant - Specter - Chopper - Marauder - Locust - Grunt Goblin - And some new forerunner vehicles
over all I like the way they were handled in halo 3 as far as damage, health, physics, and what not so do that.
as far as what vehicles I’d like to see, my personal list:
unsc-
-
warthog - gausshog - transport hog (halo 3, the one that can actually hold more than 2 troops) - scorpion - elephant - mastodon - mantis - wasp - falcon - mongoose - gun goose (preferably handled like spv3) - honey bee, which i guess would essentially be like a sky mongoose, fast, light scout or transport vehicle. - pelican, maybe forge onlycovenant/banished/whatever-
-
ghost - ultra ghost - wraith - banshee (no shields this time please) - spectre - chopper - reaver or aa wraith, either works. - invader phantom (it’d be like a smaller variant of the phantom that has lighter armor and better speed. like a bigger covey version of the falcon that can carry around a few dudes) - ce ghost, they can call it the assault ghost (floats over everything, both cannons fire at the same time and shoot faster over longer period of time, and no boost like in ce) - phantom or spirit, again probably forge only.prometheans-
-
phaeton but functions like phaeton helios - a tank with a main cannon that functions like the hannibal scorpian and instead of gunner seat it has a regular seat on each side so 2 support guys can sit on it. calling it a trident. - small, fast, scout vehicle with no guns, holds up to 3 people inducing the driver, and can use active camo.enemy/ai specific vehicles (don’t care if we get to drive these I would just like to fight them)-
-
locust - grunt mechin case you haven’t caught onto the thing with most of these vehicles I would like things that I can just pile teammates onto.
There are way too many vehicles in modern halo, and way too many variations of them.
Each vehicle used to be unique and had its own style/function.
They were also perfectly balanced for multiplayer with their own strengths and weaknesses.
This is not only a problem with the vehicles but with the weapons as well. Same issue really.
More does not always equal better.
And they are also very weak now too.
This is due to 3 things,
-
map design that puts vehicles into a kill box. Too many angles to blow up vehicles and not enough space for them to manuever. There needs to be areas of predatory danger when a vehicle is in play that you dont want to be in as infantry, while also keeping safe areas for infantry that arent too defensively positioned to kill vehicles. There used to be a more cat and mouse feel with vehicles now its more like a pack of wolves taking down a large animal.
-
Spartan abilities give more chance to get away from them.
-
Too many overpowered anti vehicle weapons placed on the maps.
I’d scrap variants for vehicles, or at least have them as forge only. Especially woodland/urban/tundra/corp variants, as I’ve not noticed any difference between them beside cosmetics.
I would bring the falcon back as the UNSC’s air vehicle. It fits into the UNSC’s more team oriented vehicle style, which 343 has been steadily reducing by introducing single occupant vehicles like the gungoose and mantis.
Same for the Covenant, scrap the different variants. They are at least different enough to fill different niches, but there’s still no need. Reuse the revenant or introduce the locust, as these are two medium power vehicles that aren’t just a direct counterpart to other factions.
For the Prometheans, keep the phaeton. I’d also add a ground vehicle that is less powerful than a wraith or scorpion, but more powerful than a warthog/ Covenant mid tier. Keep it single occupant, maybe with two firing methods, a lighter but faster firing incineration cannon and a binary rifle like anti infantry weapon. Not too fussed, as long as it’s unique and doesn’t feel like a Promethean reskin of an already existing vehicle.

The problem with the Mantis is well one Covenant has no counterpart which has always been a staple since Halo 2. UNSC had the Warthog Covenant had the Specter/Prowler/Revenant. I don’t think the Goblin is the counterpart since it is supposed to be a Grunt Boss.

The Covenant don’t need a walker just because the UNSC has one, I don’t even think the walker we have is terribly interesting. Its just another slow moving heavily armored tank that walks rather than using tracks or hovering. I wouldn’t mind so much if the Mantis had simply replaced the Scorpion entirely, but now we just have more redundant entries in the Halo sandbox. Of the 3 Covenant Warthogs you listed, only the Revenant does anything unique or interesting. The other two are little more than Warthog reskins.

Yeah, to be honest I don’t think the Mantis was needed but we got it anyways. So it would be nice if they gave the covenant or heck the Promethean something similar. The Mantis did upstage the scorpion as the big combat vehicle.
As for the covenant cavalry vehicles funny thing in adding a 2nd passenger seat they did change up the way it works compared to the warthog. Where the passenger had forward facing weaponry the specter had only sides which change the coverage and tush the utility quite a bit. Yes the prowler is just a reskin of the specter much like the chopper is just the Brute equivalent of a ghost. Still my favorite is the Spectre, it is sort of the cross between a mongoose and a guass canon-warthog.

Yeah while the variations would be nice I think the core needs to be worked out first. To me the only reason we had vehicle variants was to sell those awful Req packs in H5. (Side note: lets not call Halo 5 modern halo lets just leave it as the abomination as it is).
As for vehicles being weaker yeah spartan abilities do contribute to that. Which is why I prefer Reach armor ability system as you only had one ability. Vehicles were also weaker in Halo 3 because of your 3rd point. In halo 2 vehicles were almost overpowered because only the rocket launcher was an effective anti vehicle weapon (fuel rod cannon caused netcode problems so it was left out of matchmaking). In halo 3, we had spartan laser, missile pod, rocket launcher, and fuel rod cannon. Halo Reach we only had well concussion launcher and grenade launcher were more anti-light vehicle. Rocket Launcher and Plasma Launcher were anti-air, laser and fuel rod cannon were anti tank weapons. There is one problem with halo reach and that was they made the UNSC sniper rifle anti-vehicle which I disagree with. Sure 50 cal is a big round but it doesn’t damage tank armor. If they were to make a sniper rifle anti vehicle it should be the beam rifle as particle accelerators have more kinnetic energy than a 50 cal round.

The position and number of the passenger is completely meaningless with regards to how the vehicle actually performs. Both the Spectre and Prowler follow the exact same model as the Warthog to a fault as they follow that same driver/gunner/passenger(s) layout. At the end of the day you are still doing the same strafing runs followed by the occasional splatter and objective runs. Pretty much any map with a Standard Warthog would work more or less exactly the same if it was replaced with the Spectre or Prowler. The Revenant meanwhile has the unique feature of being an objective capable vehicle where the driver controls the gun and said gun behaves in a completely different way to the Warthog, Spectre, or Prowler turrets.
Calling the Chopper “Just the Brute equivalent of a Ghost” is not remotely accurate. You can’t use a Chopper the same way you would a Ghost or vice versa, unless the Ghost can suddenly smash through other light vehicles or have its main cannons flip around wheeled vehicles. Using either requires different skillsets.
Having a two vehicles of a similar class does not mean they have to function in the exact same way. The lack of guns on the Mongoose for example is what made it an interesting foil to the Ghost in Halo 3 and Reach, which is why I don’t really care for the addition of the Gungoose at it as it undermines what made the Mongoose unique in the first place.
You can have a fully fleshed out sandbox without resorting to functional clones of existing vehicles.
Keep:
-mongoose
-Spectre
-Revenant (mini wraith)
-ghost
-banshee
-wraith
-chopper
-halo 4 gun goose (buffed)
-halo 3 hornet
-wasp
-falcon
-phaeton
-elephant
-warthog
-scorpion
Get rid of:
-Hale 5 gungoose
-all non oni and Hannable variants
Create:
-Vampire from Halo wars
-promethean ground vehicles
I liked the vehicles in h5 after all the updates. I love the aa wraith and i dont dislike the wasp itself but the wasp was not a good replacement for the hornet/falcon since the phaeton which i do like filled the same role only the wasp is weaker. I think the hornet/falcon should replace the wasp and the wraith should get shields to buff it like the banshee. Id remove all the req variants and instead add the revenant from reach. Lastly as a far out wish id love to see the vulture and grizzley since they are my favorite halo vehicles. Ofcourse theres many more id be happy to see but i wana keep it somewhat reasonable. The only other thing id say is the hw2 design for the scorpion is the best design.
edit: also the sword hog is cool id like to see it return with its own unique model not a chaingun reskin.
I want every vehicle because I want a Warzone 2.0 or a bigger, better BTB with maybe 24v24.
