What are your favorite Halo games and why? Feel free the respond as you see fit (you can rank all of them, just name your top 3, etc.)
My top three (in no particular order):
Halo 3 is my favorite all around. Easily the best campaign from a gameplay perspective. The mp was strong, though a little slow by today’s standards (and compared to halo 2). Theater, forge, and custom games made for a great community and tons of memories with friends. It was so much fun trying to experience everything this game had to offer. There were the vidmaster challenges, the easter eggs, random stuff like breaking the Guardians (and occasionally the whole game) with trip mines, grinding almost all the achievements (though still to this day I can’t get that darn double kill with a spartan laser in Lone Wolves…), etc… Halo 3 is also the first Halo game I actually owned, and is where my love for the series truly began.
Halo 4 has my favorite story. The multiplayer was… ehhhh. LOVED that campaign though. I know it’s cool to hate on this game but I feel like the campaign is under-appreciated. Great character development, real emotional weight, and narrative intricacies and themes that can be analyzed if you feel like using your brain. It also made me interested in Halo’s extended lore and I was excited to see where the story would go in the next game. If it weren’t for the campaign however, Halo 2 (As it’s generally a better game than H4) would probably be in my top 3 for similar reasons as Halo 3. I don’t have strong feelings towards H:CE since I never really played much of it outside of the campaign (which tbh, I’ve had the least fun with overall) but I do respect its impact on console FPS and appreciate it for starting the franchise.
Halo Reach has the most to offer content wise. There’s something for everyone (provided your not into playing super competitively). Seriously this game had everything. EVEN CHESS (like wtf…). The campaign had it’s share of fantastic moments and was all around good from a gameplay perspective. Firefight was a blast and could be customized, Invasion is probably my favorite Halo gametype ever (and should return. I’m disappointed it hasn’t), the sandbox was unique and allowed for cool custom games and action sack modes not possible in any other Halo, the UI was gorgeous. I could go on. Reach overcame it’s flawed core gameplay with it’s diversity of content and strong community tools which have lead to some of the greatest memories I’ve ever had in a video game. I know not everyone can get past the all the armor abilities and reticle bloom, but this game will always be special to me.
Congratulations if you actually read all of that lol.
In order only counting main series games: #5: Halo 5, as its the only Halo game were I just didn’t have fun in general. #4 Halo 4, I respect them trying to change things, but a lot of them didn’t turn out so well… loved the campaign though! #3 Halo 1 (Not Custom Edition) I had a blast going through this one, not quite as good as the other ones, and in some cases I even prefer H4 over this one (especially in campaign) but I respect how this game evolved the industry (no pun intended) for the better. #2 Halo 2, the first one I ever played… If it wasn’t for that Halo 1 or 4 would probably be here. #1 HALO 3 BABY! This one was pretty much the perfect Halo game for me. I loved its perfect balance between the two Halo games, and while it may of not changed TOO MUCH, what it did do was perfect what was already there. Easily my favorite of the bunch.

Not even with forge or custom games? You should give those things a try if you haven’t. You might find something fun there even if you (understandably) find the rest of the game to be lacking.
Halo Reach is best game ever released, just so many memories playing infection, multi team, big team, team slayer and custom games with my brother and cousin. I have played it 6 years but aren’t going get to bored to it at least in other 6 years.
Second best is Halo 3, it was my first Halo (and videogame). In that game I didn’t play live just local splits screen but it still was (and is) very fun.
Third best is Halo 4, first Halo that I waited to be released. It is very good game but still not good as Reach or 3.
Other Halo’s are all good but not so big deal to me than 3,4 or Reach.
Worst Halo is Halo 5 Guardians, biggest reason is lack of splits screen.
Favorite level of all time is Halo 2’s Outskirts because I would get outside of the map and sneak up on every single jackle trying to snipe me, as well as get on top of the scarab. If you left like one or two jackles alive, you could just explore the entire outside of the map and kill every enemy at the furthest parts of the level. From there, you could go back to the scarab location and climb back into the map and just walk to the end and finish LOL. Did that a billion times, no kidding…it was so much fun. Metropolis was awesome too because I loved driving around Mombasa after killing the enemies.
The Halo 2 level where you start with a sword and have to kill like 2-4 Sangheilli Honor Guards before going inside of the facility is another favorite because you can trick and confuse them by going somewhat out of the map and they will mumble and walk into walls while you annoy them lol. I’m not sure if it’s The Arbiter or another level, but it’s fun.
My other fav is the final mission in Halo CE just because I knew after finishing the game that Halo was going to be something big, especially since Bungie originally thought it was going to be a one off game or just a flop.

> Halo ODST for characters like Buck and Dutch
Halo 3- Epic Campaign, Great Multiplayer and Custom Games Halo 2- Great Campaign, Competitive Multiplayer Halo 1- Great Campaign (open World), fun Multiplayer
Halo 4- Good Campaign, ok Multiplayer
Halo 5- good Campaign, good multiplayer
Halo Reach- lacking Campaign, Good Multiplayer
Halo ODST- Don’t care
#1 Halo One: Many a night I spent at my friend’s house playing match after match.#2 Halo 3: Definitely tied with Halo One in how much sleep I lost from this game. #3 Halo 4: Amazing Campaign and I even had a lot of fun in multiplayer.
1.) Halo 2. I played this and halo 1 when I was 5 years old. But H2 is the one I have a first real memory of (it was on Delta Halo)
2.) Halo 3 ODST. This would be my favourite if I didn’t hold a sentimental value for H2. The atmosphere and music made you feel like a small trooper in a huge city. Plus I LOVE ODSTs and. Buck is my favourite character along with the Chief.
3.) Halo Reach. I’ve put so much time into Reach and still am (back compact FTW). All reasons for this being number 3 have been mentioned. Noble Team, the art style, firefight, forge world and your Spartan in the campaign (I remember being blown away when I found that out).
Honerable mentions to Halo 1 and 3. H1 for similar reasons to H2 and mk V is my favourite Spartan armor and H3 because it felt challenging but not frustrating on Legendary, like the others can be and by god that ending was awesome.
No I don’t hate H4 and H5, I just prefer Bungie’s games overall
Halo 3 ODST because it’s the first halo game I got. - Halo Reach due to the customization and campaign - Halo 4 because it was too dank filled with awesomeness
