What are your expectations for multiplayer on the 8th?

Do you truly believe there will be any “launch day” additions such as the ability to pick and choose match types, or are we doomed to this roulette wheel until enough noise is made?

I just want all the normal playlists that have been a staple of all halo games since Halo 2.

I expect new weekly challenges.

Not because of any update, but because it is a new week.

At most one new gametype or map. Probably some cosmetic bundle

Maybe that elimination round game mode as it is an achievement.

Possibly some tweaks as well, as known issues lists LAN support goes live on the 8th. Plus all theater mode files from before that date will not work, which implies some fundamental changes will make previous saves incompatible on release day.

I don’t believe there will be any fundamentally new features (the OP described something that sounds like Mix Tape from Titanfall 2). However, I do believe there will be more playlists with more game types and more of a choice of what kinds of games you want to play. You may not be able to pick and choose precisely, but there will be more playlists catering to different wants.

There will also be more customization content added via campaign unlocks, and I believe they’ll show them in the menus as another way to advertise the campaign. It would be neat if there were “secret” customization items locked behind campaign progress or achievements. Maybe they could be obscured so you know that they’re there, but you can’t see them directly, unless you encounter another player using them in-game.

But anyway, I don’t expect any fundamentally new functionality. I just expect more content and variety within the framework already delivered. We know there’s more multiplayer game modes that will be available, as there’s a multiplayer Achievement that you currently cannot unlock, due to lack of the available game type.

I expect no changes, but hope for some like new playlists.

Maybe a few new playlists since it will be “officially” released. (like this is really a beta 3 weeks prior to launch, lol) But I wouldn’t hold my breath on any significant changes to anything anyone has been complaining about for a little while to come. If we’re lucky, some kind of adjustment to the monetization system as a band-aid until a real overhaul that won’t come before the end of the year. Maybe a few new maps by Feb/March. But just like with MCC’s original launch, it’s probably gonna take a few months before there are some real attempts to fix some of people’s complaints.

What I expect? A handful of stability fixes, addition of SOME playlist options, a quick pass at sandbox balancing.

What should happen (IMO)? All that, addition of input toggle for all matchmaking, unlocking of coatings and visors for use across all cores, cycling of challenges to introduce more organic ones and remove a bunch of the one-offs that hurt gameplay, tuning of motion tracker so it actually tracks motion with consistency, a good amount of cosmetics tied to campaign progression.

My unrealistic wishlist? The aforementioned, return collision detection to the game, a deeper pass at sandbox balancing.

A playlist rework is probably all were getting at best. 3 weeks isn’t much time to do anything especially if they went back to working remotely like hipsters. It’s been confirmed these are all the maps/modes.

Absolutely none. No way to get disappointed

As far as I am aware of, there will be no significant changes to the current build of the multiplayer component. As stated in the announcement, Halo Infinite’s “Beta” launched with all day one modes and maps.

Hopefully, 343i improves the playlist offerings by breaking up the core playlists into sub-playlists that separate objective modes from slayer modes.

For example:

Social Slayer* - 4 on 4 Slayer action (Slayer and Slayer BRs)

Social Objective* - 4 on 4 Objective action (Assault [One Bomb and Neutral Bomb], CTF [One Flag and Multiflag CTF], Oddball [Hot Potato], King of the Hill [ Crazy King], Strongholds)

SWAT* - No shields, no sensors. Just you, your BR, and a lot of headshots.

Walking Dead* - The dead rise again! The clammy claw of the walking dead reaches for you from the grave once more! (Infection and Safe Havens)

Rumble Pit* - A mix of Slayer and other Free For All game modes.

Big Team Battle Slayer - 12 on 12 Big Tram Slayer action (BTB Slayer, BTB Snipers, BTB Heavies)

Big Team Battle Objective - 12 on 12 Big Team Objective action (BTB CTF [1 Flag and Multiflag CTF], Total Control, Assasult [Standard Assault, 1 Bomb Assault, and Neutral Bomb Assault], and Stockpile)

Ranked Arena - 2 teams of 4 square off in the Arena (Arena Slayer, Arena Assault [One Bomb and Neutral Bomb], Arena CTF [One Flag and Multiflag CTF], Arena Oddball [Hot Potato], Arena King of the Hill [ Crazy King], Arena Strongholds)

The (*) annotates a playlist that would be compatible with Bot Bootcamp. As such, what I would also like to see is an increase in the bots’ difficulty to at least ODST.

I fantasize that they’ll have playlist at least, but I’m not holding out any hope of that being a reality so I’m not crushed by disappointment.
