What are your best strafing techniques in H5?

I’ve been watching a lot of the Pros on Twitch to see some of their strafing moves. I’ve noticed the crouch strafe, and where they jump one direction but quickly thrust the opposite way etc… What are your strafing juke techniques? Please provide your controller layout as well.

It is all dependent on where you are on the map. You need to have several different jukes in your repertoire. Good players will adapt if you use the same dodging techniques repeatedly. I would say the hardest one to shoot through is jumping one direction then boosting the opposite direction. Again though, if you have done this to same good player a few times, they still will perfect you.

Edit: Bumper Jumper, 5 sensitivity, 0% inner, 10% outter.

i love these posts

i understand watching people to get ideas and learn techniques but controller layouts/settings and type of controller matter maybe 5%

the other 95% is your own skill and what you are used to

translation of OP’s post: Tell me all your secrets so I can beat you!

I find that just changing up the duration of left to right will throw people off. for example- quick left, quick right, long left, then long right. maybe throw a thruster in there if you can. sometimes I try to just move the left stick in a circle so it’s more than just left to right. sometimes it works other time it doesn’t. Idk if crouching does much. I can (usually) easily still catch the headshot if someone crouches.

I rely on lag to teleport me all over the map. Makes me really hard to pin down. lol

I find that most players are expecting you to strafe, so I throw them off and just stand completely still…See if it works for you

I use the H4 controller scheme

My best strafing technique is really top secret…

it’s the one that doesn’t let people shoot me… shhhh…it’s a SECRET!

The types of strafes can be categorized into the following sections: movement, jump, crouch or ability. The idea of a strafe by the most primal definition is survival; which is achieved through attempting to dodge shots by your opponent as well as allow yourself to get the maximum damage out of your own shots. A strafe also needs to be adaptive and versatile by taking external factors into account as well, which can be categorized into the following sections: environment or map terrain/position, weaponry, vehicle, power up, players (ie. 2v1) and even player skill (if known or suggested), these external factors allow your strafe to either mimic/mirror or duke your opponent accordingly, and allow you the best probability to survive the bout. However t should be noted you won’t win all battles but want to win above half or majority, and that your strafe may be improved by better decision making and learning from past encounters. The best strafes are generally 3-dimensional so try new things now and then to see how it handles… And as always practice makes perfect, good luck.

Movement

  • Forward - Left - Right - BackwardsJump

  • Jump - Gandhi HopCrouch

  • CrouchAbility

  • Thruster Pack - Smart-Link - Ground Pound - Spartan Charge - Spartan Slide - Sprint

I was just curious if some controller layouts are more condusive to certain strafing techniques.

Nice strats, do you pace your shots when you do the long strafe?

I do. I find that taking that extra time to place the shot where it needs to go is better than just spamming shots.

That was awesome thank you.

I have used Crouch strafing for a long time and throws player’s shots off all the time.

Aside from that, the 2 best moves I see players do are:

  • side left, side right, jump right, thrust left, finish kill
    and
  • thrust backwards away from target with not much side movement or thrust foward and make target have to turn around

My current controls are with Crouch as B or right Scuf Paddle, Jump is A or left Scuf Paddle, Thrust LB… then I opt to swap A and LB in button mapping since LB naturally jumps better. It’s kind of like a Bumper Jump but with Thrust, Crouch, Sprint, and Zoom in right place.

I charge in, guns blazing and wreck anyone who gets in my way like a good football player…

I use armor lock. Works every time…

Theres not really a strafing technique… If there was, everybody would know what direction people would go in and it wud be ez as heck to kill everyone. Its more like there are a few different main strafes, (crouch strafe, ghandi hopping, long strafe, short strafe, thrust strafe,) and then you just mix those up randomly.
