> Honestly? I’m not really a fan of most of the maps in this game. 343i just took the design philosophy of Midship (which is a great map), and then applied it to almost every single map in the game. In Bungie’s Halo games, we had a ton of variety. We had Lockout/Guardian style whacky asymmetrical maps. We had attacker/defender maps like High Ground and Zanzibar. We had 4v4 vehicle maps as well. But in Halo 5? Just arena-style maps.

> I mean, the best maps in the game are Truth and Mercy, hands down, but those are also remakes. Other than that, Tyrant is good (reminds me of Halo 2), and I don’t mind Coliseum and Regret (which would be better with a different weapon layout, and if it weren’t quite as similar to Truth as it is now). Other than that, none of the other maps are memorable whatsoever. Not like Bungie’s maps, by far.
I miss maps like High Ground soo much, that map to me is one of the most beautiful maps in the Halo series. Also, I do like Mercy, however, I actually prefer Havens style back in Halo 4, I know im probably alone in that thought, but hey.
God, thinking about it we have had some amazing maps in the past, Valhalla, Snowbound, Headlong, Zanzibar, Narrows, Relic, Spire, Exile, Boardwalk… The last goes on, and that’s not even including the hits such as Blood Gulch, Beaver Creek etc
I will say this, I feel Halo 4 did have some great looking maps, as I said above, Exile and Haven where so nice looking, and Long Bow looks like something taken straight out of Halo CE.
I wish we had more maps like those than the new arena style maps.
I do know however, this is alot to do with nostalgia, maybe with time we will all miss the current maps from Halo 5. However, I don’t think I’ve yet to have the feeling “this is a beautiful map” in Halo 5.
Time will tell
