What are the sales numbers?

On the goty box art it claims Halo 4 is the best selling entry in the series… So can we get some numbers?

Halo 3 has sold over 14.5 million copies, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that Halo 4 bested this in less than a year. Especially when Halo 4 can’t even remain in the top five most played games on xbox live

Obviously it’s just a lie:

But we’re talking about 343 after all, i’m not surprised.

Halo 4 is the best selling game in the franchise at this point in its life span and its on pace to pass H3. It has almost 10 mill sold and its not even a year old. I’m pretty sure that’s what they mean.

“Best-selling” refers to Halo 4’s day one sales, which set a record for the franchise for the fourth time in a row.

You say 343 is lying about halo 4s sales numbers. Then cite vgchartz as a source. Who are known for lying about sales numbers.

I find it funny how you claim 343 is lying then use vgchartz as a source

Do you have any reliable source?
Maybe only 343i know the truth, but they are not going to say that their game sucks or sold less that halo 3 and halo reach, right? It’s clear that they are desperately trying to get more money, because this game failed in every way and they know it.

Also, you know that many people don’t like halo 4.

And that only refers to the multiplayer, that doesn’t speak for people who like Spartan Ops or Campaign

Bringing up the numbers on a 6 year old game vs a less then 1 year old game then obviously the older game will have more copies sold since it been on the market longer.
But clearly they are talking about the numbers during same period of time from launch (10 months give and take) and the day 1 numbers for each game.

How is it clear? The box straight up says it’s the best selling Halo game of all time. Not the fastest within a particular period of time.

Theres not many ways to interpret “best selling Halo game of all time”. It means what it means.

And I find it hard to believe.

But how many trade them back in?

That said, don’t flame me anybody, I play this game almost daily.

If they sold so many, where is everyone. Not playing Halo 4! Hope those missing million people come back for 5!

And they’ll be gone just as quick as soon as a new CoD releases after Halo 5.
Halo 4’s “mass exodus” occurred on the same day CoD: Black Ops II came out. Coincidence? I think not. The same happened with Halo: Reach, although not as dramatically and sudden as with Halo 4.

Its a shame that gamers prefer same games like call of duty over innovating games, but i’m sure 343 will not fail in matchmaking part in halo 5, because their future is depending on it.

No, it didn’t all happen when Call of Duty came out. And Reach was able to hold out better in the face of competition. Halo 4 can’t even stay in the top five less than a year into it’s life.

This is different

Ultimately I don’t feel too strongly about weather or not Halo 4 is as popular as Halo 3 or Reach on xbox live.

But I do care about being lied to. This just comes off as an attempt to make Halo 4 sound more successful or appealing than it really is. And it’s unnecessary. Weather or not it sold better than Halo 3 or Reach shouldn’t matter.

Halo 4 is still one of the best selling xbox 360 titles. Last I heard I think it sold over 8 million units, that’s something to be proud of. They shouldn’t feel like they need to fabricate more success.

And if it has sold more than 14.5 million units then I don’t see why a 343 employee wouldn’t want to come here and confirm this. I don’t see why Microsoft wouldn’t mention this in the press either.

I don’t know man, I thought that Microsoft was joking on how Halo:Reach had more people replaying it then Halo 3 ever did. And plenty of people were still playing 3 when Reach was released.
