How would the battles change? Would they even change?
Probably not. At no point would an increase in elites change the tide of war. With the San shyum they were outclassed by the forerunner ship; the covies already outnumbered the humans.
An increase in numbers wouldn’t help till the covenant civil war, and while they would have made a bigger impact, the elites generally had the upper hand as they were.
The only case it’d probably make a big difference is the sos defeating the storm covies. Had they adopted female warriors sooner, they may not have been in such a dire situation needing the unsc help. Of course you could also make the argument that they probably played important roles in defending friendly keeps since that is their usual roll; so they might have already been involved.
Going forward, at least with Arby’s sos, we will probably see that change. If you haven’t I highly recommend the novella Shadow of Intent. It’s post 3, and features Rtas Vadum, aka the Shipmaster Half-Jaw. This subject is prominent in it and I think you’ll really enjoy it. It’s one of my favorite halo books to come out.
