I know people have speculated before about what the Guardians in Halo 5 Guardians means, but I haven’t seen a thread about it in a while. What do you guys think ‘Guardians’ means? Unless its already been confirmed or something and I missed it.
Here’s my theory:

yes, the forerunners lived to the code of the mantle (mantle of responsibility for the galaxy) because they were the most advanced species in it. the mantle was meant to pass to humanity but the didact didn’t like that idea, mainly because he hates humans… so halo 5 guardians is quite possibly the story of how humanity, mainly chief, begins to take responsibility for the galaxy like they were meant to?

This. The chief is the next ur didact. And humanity is the inheritor of the mantel of responsibility. Humanity is the guardians. As the forerunners use to be. Direct quote from halo 4 footage. doubtful. Even the new intro suggests forerunner in origin. Plus the creative designer already confirmed no Flood in Halo 5.

Again, you’re looking at posts from 5 months ago, before we even knew anything about Guardians or the Flood. Look before you post.
