So I do see a split in the playerbase around sprint but I don’t understand where the argument for sprint is. Base Movement Speed is faster in Halo 3 than sprint speed is in Halo 5. The removal of sprint does not equate to the removal of all spartan abilites like thrusters or hover. I just have not heard a good argument for sprint is all. So can someone explain to me why people believe it is a superior mechanic? Or do people want high base movement speed like halo 3 and sprinting speed akin to the 30mph that most Spartans can reach? If thats what people want then I would just say limit the maneuverability of sprinting and give it a long start up. But I just dont see it being very fun if people have halo 3 speed on top of halo 4/5 style sprint. I don’t want to get to far into why I think halo 3 movement speed with the addition of thrusters and hover could be fun and a middle ground BUT I just am curious about the people who say sprint is better.
Overall I feel like the reddit halo users are more one sided against sprint meanwhile these forums are more for sprint. There is also poll data that is for sprint, however I have yet to see an unbias poll. And what I mean by that, if you take a poll of current halo 5 players than yes the poll will be more for sprint. But if you took a poll for people playing the MCC I feel it would be different. Most recentely they made a halo waypoint poll but largely the waypoint has been sided with sprint enthusiasts as much of the original core fanbase has be disenfranchised with the franchise. And when the halo 6 beta releases then I believe a console poll will be mixed while the pc poll will be heavily against sprint since many older gamers moved on with the removal of sprint. Im sure 343 is aware of any bias though. If they put out a poll and have designed the game for sprint. They are going to place the poll and advertise the poll in an area that will give them the results they want in order to create a bandwagon effect. Too bad that player retention has shown the bandwagon effect isn’t that effective.
