What are some things you like about Infinite’s customization?

I personally feel like the threads that explain what’s wrong with Halo Infinite’s customization have gone through each point of criticism… about a hundred times over. With that being said, I don’t think many of the arguments y’all make are wrong—just rehashed. So, let’s try a different approach. What are things you like about the game’s customization system?

For me, it’s gotta be the new MK VII pieces. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that too many of the cool sets are locked behind paywalls… but let’s look beyond that for just one thread. 343 has totally revamped their original style into more of a classic look, with some echoes of Halo 4 & 5 blending into the ‘new’ aesthetic. Soldier and Aviator look better than ever, and the MK VII helmet itself sure is lovely. There’s not much to dislike (outside of coatings) in terms of the new armor core—unless if you’re not a cat person, I suppose. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So, what do y’all like? If you want to be critical, please just keep it civil. I’m aiming for more of a positive post here, but know that there will be an inevitable moment when someone brings up issues with the system anyway. We all know it needs work. Let’s just try to reflect on what works!

  • I like the fact that we can put symbols on the guns and chest armour but I wish that we could put it on the
shoulder where it would be more visible as the chest armour attachments also cover it

  • I like the chest attachments but I wish that they would change colour with the coating that you have
equipped as I find that the standard metal colour takes away from the coating

  • I like the visors but it would be great to get animated ones

  • like the fire slide effect. A melee effect would be great. Also I think that the helmet fire effect could be a little
higher and engulf the helmet a bit more

It has so, so much potential. They just need to expound upon it and remove unnecessary embargoes on cross-core/weapon/vehicle item usage.

Here’s an updated version of what I said:

  • I like the fact that we can put symbols on the guns and chest armour but I wish that we could put it on the
shoulder where it would be more visible as the chest armour attachments also cover it

  • I like the chest attachments but I wish that they would change colour with the coating that you have
equipped as I find that the standard metal colour takes away from the coating

  • I like the visors but it would be great to get animated ones

  • like the fire slide effect. A melee effect would be great. Also I think that the helmet fire effect could be a little
higher and engulf the helmet a bit more

  • Something like selecting armour texture would be great. Such as coarse, glassy, tinted chrome, composite, polish, dirty, clean, battle damaged

  • Armour effects such as chameleon or trippy where the armour keeps changing colour or a starry night effect or Zeta night sky which would be the opposite of the Zeta sky that I got with the pre-order of campaign. These could also apply to the weapons

  • A visor cracking effect would be satisfying for if the final shot of a kill is a head shot.

Any additions to these ideas would be interesting. Let me know what you think!

NOTHING…I dont like any aspect of it.

Not a single dang thing. How do you prevent emblem customization? Can’t talk on Halo 5 but from Halo 3, Reach and 4 ive always played around with the Yin Yang emblem with different colors and backgrounds. I’d love to at least do that.

I prefer Halo 3 and 4 MCC customization, so Mark VI core BETTER use that same system, being able to swap out torso, legs, undersuit, forearms, back, animated visor, armor effects, etc. I really dislike the Reach slap-ons they’re selling us for $10 to stick on our Spartans like fridge magnets. It doesn’t have even remotely close the same feeling of customization.

Also, who was the genius that decided to stick all the slap-ons for the chest over top of your emblem? You can’t even see the emblem under these attachments. They should be on the left or the emblem should be on the left, and the emblem should also be on the shoulders like older games.

I like Destiny shaders, so you would think I would like Coatings, but no, they screwed that up too, since you can’t apply your Coatings to all your cores, weapons and vehicles. I shouldn’t need to buy white 15 times to have everything match. Also, they didn’t do it like Destiny where you can apply your Coatings per armor piece. That would make an enormous difference when it comes to customizing your Spartan.

What do I like about the customization? The potential. There is tons of potential. Will they make that happen? Absolutely not. 343 doesn’t have a clue what they’re doing. I truly have zero faith in them fixing the game to make it the best it can be.

  • Being able to choose your voice
  • Being able to choose your body type is kind of cool
  • The armor pieces actually look really good this time - the bulky, utilitarian look of the Spartans is back
  • Enemy kill animations are neat

I’ll give you that. A lot of people say that they’re annoying, but I see some coming up in the future that look pretty cool. I also do like the movement effects. Unfortunately the flame shoulders look very lazy and could use a few extra layers and particles to look like actual flames. I still would like to see a return of the Halo Reach armor effects, since they were also ported to Halo 4 in MCC. I am a big fan of inclement weather. Those are definitely some of the more positive parts of Halo Infinite customization. I’m looking forward to the Cyber, Electro, Sakura, and Angel effects I saw in data mine videos.

Yeah, I think death animations are a better way to go about it, but whatever, they’re still really cool.

Inclement weather needs to return. Need to look up these other effects you’re talking about.

Nothing, because everything is behind a lame paywall, and even then from reading the post on here the customization is too limited.

Basically 343 is a compulsive liar :man_shrugging:

  • The amount of factors within the core system is impressive. Definitely has long term potential.

  • Big fan of the weapon customization, and how unique designs can be picked up on the battlefield.

  • The customization options are plentiful and will add tons of variety as time goes on.

Like the classic reach style of helmet / helmet attachment, chest armor, shoulders (wish there was more bulky ones for mk vii), wrist, thigh, and knees and the hand choice, like the idea of the prosthetic legs and how they look on each core

The weapon customization I like a lot in general

Vehicle customization it’s a step up from from where mcc did

I love the ai customization too

Literally the reason I don’t play - the outline system is supposed to enable expression, but all you see are clones wearing the same colours that are locked to the same armours. I want my emblem and my colours that I always use, god knows when they’ll show up, but hopefully they’ll be reasonably priced and hopefully I enjoy the placement of the colours because the chances of them appearing a second time in a more preferable arrangement is probably less likely than being struck by lightning.

I think I’ve seen just about everything there is to see from these forums for now. There really isn’t much to talk about.

People have gone over what is and isn’t good about the game campaign and multiplayer wise. We were talking about cat ears for a moment but it seems like that discussion is starting to die down a bit.

What else is there? I mean I know some topics posts on reddit that go over Halo Infinite’s aiming system but that’s about all I can think about.

Somebody give us some fresh topics. I’m not the only one who feels the same right? Or am I not looking in the right places?

Somebody give us some game content that’s worth taking about… My stupid monkey brain that wanted Infinite to be a truly legendary game is now hoping that it will be fixed, or at least fixed enough, even though that literally never happens in the gaming industry.

Literally the only thing I like about it is the fact that they put armor styles from the only good halo out of the last 3 games on the season pass. The reach armors and the armor effects on the season pass are the only thing to like because they idiotically made all the colors look like trash on purpose to sell a bunch of esports crap.

Basically give us the same level of customization the bots have

A lot, actually! I’ve got issues with a lot of the implementation (core restrictions and the inability to apply multiple non-conflicting attachments both feel like big missed opportunities) just like so many others, but the basic DNA of this game’s armor customization is the best Halo has ever had. Basically, it feels like the belated evolution of Reach’s system.

I loved Reach’s permutations, pouches, utility items, etc. And this game brings all those sensibilities back and expands on them even further! I don’t love how a lot of the monetization works and wish there were fewer limitations to how/where you can use pieces, absolutely. But the foundation here is incredible and I only see it getting better with time.

I love the fundamental idea of cores, and I think many people who criticize them would change tune if some or all of the core locking was done away with. The different details on the cores are awesome and their place in the lore is exciting! The thought of getting more old cores from existing games is so much fun, and the idea that there will be more new ones added gives ample reason to keep up with the seasons. The Fractures cores don’t excite me much in comparison, but if they were to capitalize on the XGS IP stable with Gears, DOOM, Fallout, etc. crossover Fractures cores? Soooooo cool.

So, like so much about this game, I feel like what we have today is a very imperfect proof of concept that definitely could use some spit and shine, but nonetheless is exciting and bodes well for the future of Halo.

I like the cosmetics of this game that are either free via the events and ultimate rewards or are in the battle pass. The rest are meh, but mostly because the cost of the ones in the store are so high. For me to be completely satisfied with the cosmetics, I wish the armor had the color customization like what every Halo game has had. The coatings are a good idea, but I think they suit the vehicles and weapons better as you normally expect something like the coatings to be used on vehicles and weapons. One thing I noticed they did in the Master Chief Collection was they allowed you to customize some of the alien weapons (the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are the energy sword and the carbine). They should add in customization options for these weapons in Infinite as well. It would provide more customization and give them more opportunities to create cool looking coatings that work with said weapons. If they want, they could add customization to the alien vehicles as well. (I’m saying aliens because I haven’t played the campaign yet and have only beaten the campaigns of Reach, CE, 2, and 3. I’m currently playing ODST at the moment. I’m going through all of the MCC games and 5 before I play Infinite’s campaign so I know what is going on.)
