What are some of the reasons that Halo:Infinite cant retain players?(Feedback)

Hello,

Wanted to bring this topic up again so that we can continue to keep the Dev team and 343i informed of what the community thinks are good ideas to keep us entertained and “locked in” to Halo:Infinite as we were with Halo titles of the past.

Some of the things I would immediately like to see is, FIREFIGHT modes.
Some times when I get on Halo, Im not always in the mood for PvP(Which is a sweat bath for me even in social game modes). I loved playing Firefight and Warzone modes from Halo 5(My favorite Halo). There are some other cool modes from Reach that I’d like to see Invasion even though thats more PVP, at least its something different. Im a big fan of tactics and using strategy to win games, PvP in Infinite for me is just all Comms and headphones, camping, narrow hallways and mostly just 1 brain cell game play. Im not trying to be mean to the Devs but I think its past due for the community to have something other than PvP in Halo.

Now another thing I would love to see is an expanded story and DLC. I hate to bring up other games, but I like how Destiny2 players get DLC and expansions and they get to play the story with THEIR OWN created character. Now, I don’t know what 343i has planned for us but I sure hope its a future where we can finally ditch Master Chief and play as our own spartans and create our own stories… Im not saying “Kill off” Master Chief by any means, you don’t have to do that but give us room to do more is all Im asking. I get tired of playing PvP in the games current state. And I have to say this, It is so tacky, so poor looking and low budget to have to play the Campaign co-op with 4 Master Chiefs… Thats all you guys could come up with DevTeam? I hate to sound mean here but gosh, it is a disgrace. I enjoyed the Campaign, I completed it Legendary Solo and Ive never been a Skulls type of guy(Salute to those that do, yall are crazy lol) but I refuse to play through this game again with 4 master chiefs just to get some co-op xbox achievements… Whats funny is, I would play through the campaign with All skulls active co-op if we all had our own spartans, now isn’t that something??

I know that the community wants the OG playlists, Infection, Griffball etc… and Im all for that but again, thats PvP. When will we get do something DIFFERENT in the Halo Universe??? Thats all I want to know, like is PvP the ceiling for the Halo franchise or is there possibilities to do more?

What does the community think? Feel free to give any feedback of what you would like to see in Halo:Infinite. Remember, We have to keep these topics alive so that we can see results. I trust in 343i that they actually listen to us, We cant just complain on Twitter, Youtube and Social Media… If you’re on the forums then you obviously care about Halo and you want to see Halo win, we all do!

Why Halo Infinite currently fails to retain players because:
-Issues with multiplayer in form of desync, latency spikes and so forth decrease the enjoyment of the game as it starts feeling inconsistent and unrewarding because player input doesn’t always matter.
-Store is FOMO.
-Matchmaking overall feels like it shoots over or under by too far of a margin meaning you get stomped or stomp others, at times getting a better matchup.
-Map selection hasn’t been the best and with a few maps not being good at all it reduces the selection even more.

Why Halo Infinite lost players:
-Desync
-Battlepass as basic as it gets with fillers merely speeding up progression of the battlepass.
-Challenges were horrendous and actually detrimental to matches in how it promoted selfish gamestyles or caused people to quit out matches in order to attempt to get a specific mode.
-With the horrendous challenges, the bottleneck was how many could be tracked at one time causing annoyance and irritation.
-Little selection of content
-Theatre and Customs subpar.
-Missing Forge and Co-Op
-Campaign was something of a one-trick-pony, and it lacked quite a few things like repeatable missions etc. The open world was merely a filler.
-Some were disappointed with how slow new content made it into the game.
-Long seasons people weren’t really happy with.

It’s always possible to do more but that’s not how the AAA industry works.
Very rarely do you see something new in an AAA game, it’s either derived from another game or something from player content.
Counter-Strike was originally a Half-Life mod.
Team Fortress come from a Quake mod.
MOBAs originate from a Starcraft 1 custom map.
Battle Royales are from Minecraft and ARMA mods.

The issues you run into with the community is that topics where there’s discourse outlive any and all ideas threads.
I’ve posted quite a few ideas over the years and only one or two have gone past 25 replies.
People are generally not interested in other peoples’ ideas, because those can’t really be experienced in a uniform manner.
We’ve all experienced how Halo plays, but very few of us have played games with Multi-directional gravitation, and any suggestion I give on it will be an untested idea that exist in my head only. Examples can be given but the specific experience required to discuss how it feels will never be there.
That and people favour their own ideas so there’s little interest in going into other idea threads.
Unfortunately that’s the reality of the situation.
Proof of concept is needed.

I imagine the only reason there’s still a player base in this game, be that very small, is that people check back in to see if the bugs and issues have been fixed. But if the core problems of the game aren’t addressed, there’s no way it can become successful.

Without a PVE mode and meaningful events, the game doesn’t have much to offer. The only modes I’ve been able to tolerate are Bot-Boot Camp, custom games against bots, and training academy against bots.

However, since the last update, I can’t play any of these modes due to the delay in weapon fire, hit detection, and extreme desync issues, which have made the game even more unplayable.
I am closer than I have ever been to uninstalling the game, and not looking back. I may just go go back to Destiny, it may be repetitive, but at least it works.

The one and ONLY reason is there servers are trash and biased towards central and western USA. That’s all. That’s why population is still greater in those areas. Nothing else would have kept them around more then a game where what you do actually works lmfao. I know this because I’ve been around since the beginning with friends who game hard and love halo but won’t play this game anymore because it doesn’t work. That’s the only reason. It’s BS

Same here, nobody I know will play it

The reason I don’t really play infinite is the multiplayer maps aren’t that great. Practically all of them play the same, small compact cluttered maps. It feels like you are fighting in a hall way the majority of the time.

this hurts on how true this is

While games like Splitgate, which takes inspiration from Halo, feature interesting maps, the maps in Infinite are mostly limited to simple hallways that run along the perimeter of each level. They lack uniqueness and offer no cover if players venture into the center of the map, but hey, the maps are perfect for grenade spamming, which is what many people like.

The number 1 reason that no one really talks about is that aiming feels like garbage in infinite, for every weapon, when compared to any title you can play in MCC. Poor map quality (3 lanes are terrible in Halo) and desync are also major factors, but we’re already getting better map layouts from the community and desync will hopefully be rectified in s3.

lack of comunication.
lack of contant.
no permanete playlist.
low playlist selection.
no lobby room and vote/veto selection for maps or game type.
lack of contant for the campaign.
waste the open world setting for the campaign mode.
scrap the promice’s there have make and not make then come out.
armor customisation.
long seasons.
not telling the truth and only tell lie’s.
force crossplay.
F2P mistake.
and most off all not fixing the problems good and make it only more worse then there are.

Lot’s of reasons. I’m about to sign off for good. 343 is a horrible company. They’re not just bad at what they do, they’re abusive to the game and its fans. Every single “halo” game they have made has been terrible. MCC’s only positive note is that you can play the original titles again. In other words, you can still play Bungie’s Halo (for future reference, Bungie’s Halo will be called Halo, while 343’s version will be called “halo”).

Others have stated some of this, but here are some reasons:

  1. The “storylines” in 343’s “halo” are atrocious and disgraceful. Just look at what they did in their first installment of “halo”. At the end of Halo 3, Guilty Spark informs us that humanity ARE forerunner. This was humanity’s technology that was being rediscovered, along with the history.

Right there we get a ton of possibilities for new games and campaigns that respect the story of Halo. Instead, “halo” 4 tells us that this was wrong. The forerunners are another species who have basically manipulated humanity to get there. That is a slap in the face to the creators of Halo, and to the people who loved the story. But what do you expect from a company that names itself after something that tried to kill Master Chief and specifically hired Halo-haters.

  1. Storyline aside, campaign game play tanked with “halo” 4 and has only gotten worse (for the most part). In “halo” 4, the new enemies were annoying, not challenging or engaging. From Knights teleporting to that weird satellite looking thing, it doesn’t have a Halo feel at all. You can’t tell what rank different enemies are, and the Promethean weapons were awful. They were recycled BR, AR, Shotgun and Pistol. What were these Prometheans again? Anyone know yet? As for “halo” 5, I don’t even remember the storyline.

  2. Multiplayer is dead, and PC cultists have killed it with the assistance of 343. I didn’t play all that much multiplayer in “halo” 4 or 5. I was pretty bored with it and I spent way more time in MCC. I finally gave in and gave “halo” infinite a go. At first, I was quite pleased. But as with my prior post in another thread, the cheating is off the charts and will never get better. Crossplay is an absolute disgrace. As far as I’m concerned, PC gamers should stay in their own little cult lane. The massive uptick in getting matched with them shows what this is all about. 343 has their own ideas, and fans of the franchise be -Yoink!-.

  3. SWAT (tactical slayer) is no longer SWAT. I loved SWAT because it focused on the BR and quickness + accuracy. Headshots ARE the point. Adding the commando, pistol, and mangler completely ruin that aspect to it. In fact, I score much higher in mangler games when I don’t go for headshots. Because of the rapid fire nature of CR and Pistol, going for headshots is also detrimental because the target is smaller and you can do just as much damage going for the body mass.

  4. More stupid gametypes. I heard that Attrition came from COD. Not sure if that is true, but it’s terrible and needs to go. Wherever it came from, it needs to go back. You can lose simply because 1 person on your team is terrible. That’s literally the opposite of the ethos of Master Chiefdom. Instead of 1 person dragging you down, 1 person can elevate the team in proper Halo gametypes; or, 3 players can cover for 1 terrible player. I don’t like BTB so I skip the playlist. Stop forcing me to play that Attrition garbage when I want to play objective games.

  5. Stop messing with the melee and grenades. I’m sick of them changing the rules midstream. I’m a professional and have other things to keep up on in my life. I know the physics have fluctuated from game to game, but that’s part of the fun of learning a new installment. Some changes are good, some bad, but the game is the game. Stop changing it midstream.

  6. And while I’m on the grenades, since when did the plasma become a cholla? For those of you not familiar with a jumping cactus, it’s a cactus that will literally stick to you if you brush against it. It’s a PITA for desert dwellers. Plasma grenades are supposed to stick upon contact with an object, whether a character or surrounding. The “halo” infinite grenade sticks a person better if you “bounce” it. It’s like it won’t stick to the first thing it touches, but the second. What is that???

That’s about all I have time for now.

GET RID OF CROSSPLAY. Send PC gamers back to their bubble.

Networking/desync issues and lack of content. People have limited time, money and patience so if a gaming company offers them a “live service game” that doesn’t provide new content often and the game doesnt even work, then players will easily move on to a real live service game that does provide new content often in a game that does work.

I should have added F2P as well. I don’t mind it in theory, to generate more users, but (and again, this is aggravated by crossplay) it’s brought in a litany of people who care nothing about the game but only look for ways to manipulate.

I don’t come back because as a story oriented campaign player, I just don’t find there to be much of a world for me. I don’t find that the campaign calls me back to replay (I still replay 3 and Reach regularly, but don’t find Infinite compelling enough.)

The non campaign modes that drew me in, Firefight, but most of all invasion, are gone. The multiplayer is just this weird spartan training thing so it doesn’t feel like a real Halo battle to me (I want to fight humans vs covenant.)

With the truly truly terrible serial narrative content being the only foreseeable Halo universe content for a while, I just have a sour taste in my mouth and haven’t been playing.

The Open world is very very copy paste feeling - I don’t get the sense when I play that I’m in a world, just that I’m wandering a map with a bunch of similar locations around it. The FOBs are absolutely illogical, the last structure you would ever build to have a forward operating base. The campaign feels polished and good but also feels like sitting in the same level for 30 hours (basically the entire aesthetic of the game is fit into the 2nd level of CE.)

the whole game just feels like it’s missing so much, campaign and mp both were just really boring and for me they still haven’t add enough to bother downloading it again.

Catalyst is a prime example… got rid of bazaar in ranked and put catalyst. Worst decision ever. And who created catalyst anyway? They should be fired

Real simple. 343 refuses to make this game like in the past. Halo in not a high competitive game. it was for big lan patries, to make new friends, we had clans and have fun with family members. We had comradery something IMHO something 343 cannot grasp.
