In the new Inside Infinite blog post, they showed off some new emblems called service awards. I was wondering if they’re like a role given to users in the Discourse forum or if they’re replacements for our ranks that we have now. If it’s the latter do you think our progress will carry over? I’ve never heard of Discourse until now, so forgive my ignorance.
Don’t believe they’ll carry over, but yes the awards should kinda work as replacements for the awards we have right now, like the “Halo 5 Beta Tester” award.
From my experience with Discourse they’ll function more similar to achievements than to service ranks like we have now (i.e. Spartan-Gold). From my experience with Discourse “service ranks” function on a trust system that calculates your activity plus your moderation history to increase your trust level, which in turn let’s you access more features (like being able to hyperlink or post gifs).
That being said, 343 could have it function differently. I’m just basing this on my experience on other Discourse forums.

So you’re saying as long as I don’t make you mad, I’ll be getting better rapport basically, if 343 make function like so? 
I’m kinda disappointed, because I’ve been posting a lot on here the past week trying to get my rank up from the hype, just for it to be stripped from me in the new world. 
I’ll try to stay at normal salt levels and not irritate you Monitors when the switch happens.

I’m not sure I’m understanding what this system is, but so long as it’s not like China’s social credit system I’m cool with it.
The forum itself is fairly transparent in regards to creature limitations. I recall bumping into daily Post limits when I started which I still consider a very bizarre function to have. Point being as it is now it’s pretty clear what you’re participation in. Granted I can’t speak for the new system as I know nothing about it.
I hope the forum ranks stay and carry over. Or they bring back the bungie.net titles like Mythic member with the blue title bar.
