Are they just organic AIs? Like AIs with actual bodies? Because in the video “Return of the Forerunners” it shows that the Prometheans go into the body armor. Maybe, Cortana will become an Organic AI?
Those were concept design. Don’t consider them to be exact.
They’re, from what i’ve gathered, dead organic forerunners put inside a machine to fight as AI’s.
I still dont know who the “Ancient Evil” are… They said its not the promethians… so im lost
> I still dont know who the “Ancient Evil” are… They said its not the prometheans… so im lost
It’d be more grammatically accurate to say “is”. The Ancient Evil is a person, whose identity has yet to be revealed.
The Prometheans are just a new class of enemy.
> I still dont know who the “Ancient Evil” are… They said its not the promethians… so im lost
Ancient evil = Didact

That would be lame seeing a they went to the bother of introducing the Precursors into the Universe who are much more ancient and seem alot more evil than the Forerunner. If the Didact is the ancient evil I’ll be disappointed, but I’m willing to bet money he isn’t.

Why wouldn’t he be? There’s not much more room in the fiction for anything else.

Have you read the Forerunner novels? There is plenty of “room”. 343i stated that anything they are trying to create one canon, that things in the book s and other media are in fact relevant to Halo 4 and the Reclaimer Trilogy. They took the time to develop the Precursors and their relationship to the the other races as well as connecting them with the Flood (who Spark calls “the Ancient Enemy” in the terminals, again 343i’s product). They also introduced the mysterious species that crash landed on Inst. O4 and spent two terminals on this subject.
For 343i to bring in these new aspects and not use them would be foolish (considering their “everything is relevant” stance) and bad storytelling. The Didact being the main antagonist is too obvious. If it is the case it will be boring and unsatisfactory because of it’s obviousness. Surprises and twist are what make a narrative interesting. Use Halo CE as a parallel for Halo 4:
We think we know the main enemy, in CE the Covenant in Halo 4 the Forerunner. Then we are blindsided by the unexpected arrival of a far worse enemy that is a threat to both factions and the Galaxy at large, the Flood and in Halo 4’s case either the Flood, the Precursor or something related to that.
I’m calling it now, the Didact is a red herring.

I agree. Maybe the Prometheans are the new enemy class, but the Precursors are the true threat, the puppet masters behind Halo 4. They’ll be more direct in Halo’s 5 and 6, with a new Flood army most likely, designed more as an intelligent horde than just a horde.
And besides, when they first released info on the Crawlers back in one of the Bulletins, they were described as a part of the force that is “defending against Requiem’s emerging threats,” IIRC. Perhaps Didact is making sure nobody screws up and releases something far worse? cough like the Covenant did cough

Exactly. Again look at the parallels with the original trilogy. The Forerunner have taken the place of the Covies, we may end up allies by Halo 5 similar to the Elites in Halo 2.
Who ever said that the ancient evil is just a single character?
As for the Precursors in H4, I think introducing the Forerunners will be enough for both new and old fans alike for one game. We’ve got two more games in which to see them make an appearance, so I doubt they’ll show up in H4.
Could be cremated forerunner…like immortal warriors or something…
I’d go cybernetic organisms, either re-animated or continuing to be alive.

Haha, suppose you’re right! I’ve never read any of the novels, but then again, i’d assumed i’d heard everything I possibly could about other potential enemies. Obviously i was wrong. Whoops.
didact will be this trilogy’s gravemind. I doubt the boss battle in H4 we would even kill him just to keep the story going. Just sayin.
I still think they are a quasi dead organic forerunner inside a very advanced life-support/combat suit. This is supported by their self distruct system as well.

The mysterious species is what I am most interested into right now. It is something we know absolutely nothing about and have lots of mysteries with them I would say.
They have the potential for a great addition to the story I believe.
