What are peoples opinion about hitmarkers in Halo?

In general, I don’t really like them but I understand their necessity in fast paced game with more advanced movement like Halo 5 and I was wondering if Halo players like or didn’t like it.

To be honest, the only hit marker I need is the sweet, sweet sound of a Grunt’s head popping with confetti spraying everywhere.

I don’t really like em, but it’s not a make or break issue.

i like them but i would not really care if they were removed

I agree with this^. I like them but it’s not a major issue for me. It is handy when you’re shooting vehicles at range though.

I dont like them for competitive. Throwing nades and knowing if your actually landing them and knowing your landing headshots without that type of aid is a competitive skill that should be practiced. For casual or campaign I dont mind

I would like them if they were subtle, but 5-infinites feels a bit over the top, and I don’t like the sound effects for getting hits and kills nor the little cross in the crosshair when you get kills.
H4>none>h5

Bullet hitmarkers are fine, but not grenade ones.

I don’t like them. It takes me out of the experience and actively reminds me with every hit that I am playing a video game. It’s such a tiny thing that it’s almost not worth complaining about, but large enough that it’s an issue worth discussing.

I suppose I understand it from a competitive MP perspective, which H5 was clearly designed to excel at… but for casual gaming and the campaign experience, my immersion in the story becomes affected enough to bother me. Maybe it doesn’t break immersion totally, but it doesn’t exactly help with immersion either.

They’re useful visual feedback but only if they actually indicate when you score a kill (usually done via a colour change to red).

Shield flares are important feedback too but they dont say your gunshots actually connected, especially in encounters that are skewed in your favour.

They’re more important than people give them credit for but they A. Shouldnt take over the HUD and B. Need to have an indication of when you’ve scored a kill or else they’re useless otherwise.

Like others have said, they are fine with guns but not grenades in my opinion

I liked Halo 4’s have not played 5 but Infinite’s are a bit too big.

I greatly appreciate them on weapons but would rather nades not have them.

i appreciate them, even on nades. lets me know if they are indeed camping behind a corner.

I really liked the hit mark on Halo 5 idk I find the sound satisfying to listen too

Well… I’m a Spartan, I know when I hit the enemy. Why would any real Spartan II or III need something stupid like that?

I personally like hitmarkers

I don’t care for them personally

I don’t mind hitmarkers, but it would be nice to have the option to toggle them on and off.

It’s something you can get used to, but I have to say that it’s annoying AF. I would just remove it completely.
