What are Harbinger motivations?

We know she works with the Banished yet I doubt she cares for the will of Atriox. She implies humans aren’t the future, as in the holders of the mantle. Did her species try to be tested for ownership but the Forerunners stop them or ancient humanity. Will she backstab the Bnashied when she gets what she wants?

I think she might actually be talking to Cortana when she says the Forerunners lies are at an end and you’re not the future. Can’t see why Chief would start saying humanity should hold the Mantle. I mean could just be her monologue assuming humanity is out to claim the Mantle like the Didact did.

Banished and Harbinger feels like it’s an alliance of convenience. Iam this ancient alien race and you’re the muscle. My guess is she is what helped them deal with Cortana and in return the Banished will help her; which coincidentally hurts humanity.

If she took down Cortana, then I feel she has to have had some connection to the Domain. Kill the Domain and you kill Cortana, the Created, the Warden and the Guardians. If 343 is consistent then you have this AI Goddess character ruling the galaxy. It should be something pretty major that could straight up take her out. Precursors have access to the Domain. We know Precursor was buried on Zeta Halo. They hate the Forerunners. It’s a little too perfect. Possibly they could be a servant race of the Precursors instead. So the story would switch (if it wasn’t on the cards anyway) to the Return of the Precursors (Flood) in a big way.

I mean can you imagine if this Advanced Elder species are so delusional they don’t realise their Gods are the Flood? Or they do and are so convinced they’ll ascend by being subsumed by the Gods? Think Genestealer Cults from Warhammer.

If that is the plan then the Banished are making a terrible mistake.

Having the Harbinger take down Cortana like this makes sense. But also would explain why she is attacking the Chief. If he defends Cortana she would also blame him for all the trouble she and the Created have caused. “She was your responsibility and you failied!”
