As some of you may have seen, or may not have, im currently in the process of building up for a Machinima on Halo 5. In no way am I completely against this game, in fact I’ve been a huge fan of Halo since I got Combat Evolved.
However, with the latest update news finally out, I have lost what little faith I had left.
To start off with, I have a view many would disagree with, I dislike the REQ system entirely. Every ounce of it, I despise, I think it doesn’t work.
Considering the whole game revolves around REQs and Warzone, Arena is really shoved to the side. But with only three maps on launch, Warzone is so dull for me.
Now by the by each to their own, and Arena is sorely overlooked with small maps, and no real recreational game types.
My point of this post is 343 are running Halo into the ground, there’s nothing really relaxing about it.
Its all too competitive, its all centred on REQs and being a lucky guy to get some decent armor. And I even tried to defend this game for a while.
The new weapon skins are childish, the new map is a remix - much creativity there 343, and for lord only knows why the new armor is idiotically complex to get.
Im referring to the “Achilles” armor set in which you must be in an active spartan company and achieve certain criteria.
If it was a solo unlock, fine, but it isn’t.
I just don’t think 343 can do Halo. I don’t know what they are trying to go for, or what direction they want to take it in but nothing about this game strikes to me.
Warden eternal is overused, the same maps come back over and over. Everything on Forge looks plastic.
But the thing that gets me the most, terrible customization.
Halo used to have one of the best customization options I had ever seen.
Reach was oustanding, four was ok.
But Halo 5 is terrible, offering only two categories in which you can chose “Body” and “Helmet” (Im talking about the armor, not visors) instead of piece by piece selection.
They need to go back to unlocking armor, and having it so I can swap what ever I wanted like I could in Halo four.
The trouble is 343 are lacking in creativity, so their shoulders are either squares, circles or triangles.
I don’t know, even with the emblems being completely controlled by 343 with pre-set colour palettes I’ve just lost all hope for this game.
But this is all just my opinion, what do you all think of the game now?
