What am I doing wrong?

Halo:MCC is my first halo ever, I go into the Halo 5 beta and I use an assault rifle… a lot of the times when I shot someone first I don’t kill them, they kill me. Any tips and tricks on how to kill people?

You’re going to have a lot of problems unless you’re easily adaptable. A lot of people including me have been playing for over 10 years. We grew up playing on the maps you’re just experiencing. Some tips I can give you would be to play tactical. Don’t run around the map like a madman. Try to slow your pace down and constantly look around every angle. Stay in the general area of you team. Do not challenge others if you have lower shields. Try to avoid them while placing grenades behind you if they’re chasing. In halo 2 and 3 try to use the Battle rifle as much as possible, its the best weapon in the game if you have the patience to get good with it. Never challenge more then one person at a time unless you have a teammate with you or they aren’t looking. If you get into a situation where you know you’re going to get killed try to drop a grenade. Grenade tip: walls are your friends. You can bounce frags off walls to hit an angle you wouldn’t be able to throw directly. Watch streams of Halo pro’s such as Naded, Ninja, Suddoth and Ghost Ayame. If you study the way they play it will eventually start rubbing off on you and you will be placing yourself in better positions. Know the spawning times of the power weapons. Snipers, Rockets, Camo, it’s all crucial to winning. Switch sensitivities. Play 5-10 games with different sensitivities to find your sweet spot. I usually play on 4-6. Try to stay away from open areas as much as possible. Hope some of this helps.

It helps, but my main concern is that a lot of the times I shot at people first and yet they still kill me. I need tips on that

The only thing that can help you with that is sensitivity. There is no way to explain how to have a better shot. Just keep practicing your aim.
