I have a problem in Halo 5 FFA games. I often die in melee attacks. It’s like this:
If I’m running around a corner, and come face to face with another player, we often both melee hit each other. But one melee hit with no previous shots fired is rarely a kill by itself.
So we both get knocked back a bit, and proceed to start shooting each other.
And here’s the problem. It seems like that other person almost always recovers from the melee hit and starts firing before I do, so I usually die.
I’m on the trigger immediately after the melee hit, but it takes my character longer to recover and start firing.
So what is the secret here? Should I be doing something with the control sticks to speed up my recovery?
I feel your pain mate…it happens to me all the time in all playlists. I have no answer or explanation other than the other player may have lower latency so things happen on the other players screen before you even get to see and react to them before he/she does. If its something I’m doing wrong or that person has mastered a skill that I’m not aware of then I’d like to be enlightened with this information.
He hit you, meleed you, or in this case - spartan charged (?) you first, so he was able recover first. I don’t think there’s button combos since there’s spartan abilities (?). Unless hes beating you by taking advantage of the slightest of input lag… I suggest by prenading the corners you are suspicious of.
I figured it was some sort of controller trick, like double burst firing the battle rifle in Halo 2 multiplayer. I hated the battle rifle, never did good with it.
Depends. OP what is the animation you see? If he’s Spartan charging you, that always allows for faster recovery. Also, sometimes meleeing first leads to them recovering first. The person who melees last will lose any engagement more often than not…
I have noticed that melee seems to have been nerfed though. I felt I did more damage with it before… also, Spartan charging is starting to feel more of a hassle… I think something in the update is to blame…
