what advice is there for better skills?

I am new to Reach and I’m struggling with my fighting skills in matchmaking.
My guess is to keep playing the highest level until I can handle myself on the field.
What advice may you have in this area?

Start the campaign on normal, then heroic, then more heroic, then MM, then legendary.

As with anything involving a skill set, Practice, Practice, Practice.

My best advice is to snap your halo reach disc and play halo 3 for the next 6 months and then play have 4. Don’t waste your time with this game. send me a friend request and ill teach you how to play halo 3. Your never going to get better at this game by playing reach. Reach will always match you up with random players. I got better by playing against people that were better then me. I would die again and again for hours till i learned. Don’t expect 343 to make a user friendly game so everyone is a winner. I got a 50 in every playlist, i will teach you how to play asfter you snap that reach disc. LOL jk add me “Silvi i Be”

I will let you know how to play this game.
Dont rush the enemy
Always find your team, or atleast one other to get your back, get theirs.
As soon as you see an enemy, start chucking nades, then start shooting
Find power weapons, learn their spawn times, make rounds.
Camp with said power weapons, wait for kills.
In a BTB situation, get good with vehicles, dont bother with the sniper, it only causes problems/betrayals
Learn to swing a hammer effectively.
Firefight is a good training tool, use DMR, Sniper, Magnum, AR. Avoid FRG and Rockets, they are easy to kill with.
Score Attack is also good for DMR and Sniper training.

Or just dont give a crap about being good and have fun, like what youre supposed to do with video games.
Good Luck Spartan.

Patience. Don’t rush like 90 percent of the idiots who play reach. If a guy runs from you after you weaken him and you have a team mate near him, let your team mate clean up the kill. Don’t be so hard up for kills that you go 16 and 14 or some crap like that. Look to control maps. If you and your team do it right, kills will come. Understand that reach is actually pretty horrible with it’s garbage maps and utter fail of a shooting system. Once you accept this, you can play it with a zen like calmness where when you are bloom cheated for the 5th time in a row, you barely have an eyebrow twitch.

SWAT’s good for headshot practice and reaction time.

Action Sack will get you used to ordnance. (And escaping it)

Snipers will get you used to…Sniping.

Rumble Pit is good for making you think twice, thinking fast and fighting on more than one front.

MLG is good for getting used to elitist -Yoink- and people who think they are God.

And last but not least, BTB will get you used to fighting multiple enemies at once. You need to get good at that, I can barely manage and I’m a Forerunner. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, don’t just throw grenades like a person. Your grenades are supposed to be used as a tool. Spawning and throwing wild grenades is the calling card of a noob. If someone suprises you, DON’T just throw grenades hoping that maybe you’ll take them with you. Do not pick up the plasma rifle as it’s totally worthless. Always have a ranged weapon since the AR is a confetti gun. Aim for the head and anticipate someone’s movement. Bunny hopping only makes it easier for someone to blow your head off. Practice actual elusive movement while maintaining accuracy. Pay attention to where your team is. If they’re all bunched up (like idiots) in one area and everyone’s name is blue, chances are, the enemy is somewhere else. If there’s an enemy thats far from you with his back turned, but a grenade at his feet, then shoot him to death. Don’t sprint across the map so you can get an assassination kill. Be comfortable with playing support. That means, team shoot with your team mates and don’t be hard up for just getting kills. This isn’t COD. Team work will win everytime.

Practice, like anything the more you put in the better you’ll get

I played through the Campaign on Normal, at first. Then I dove into a little bit of Rumble Pit, but a team-based gametype is better if you have friends to play it with! I also played a little bit of Firefight on the side, while I went back and beat the Campaign on Heroic.

Essentially, lots and lots of practice!

Welcome to Waypoint, and Halo in general! We don’t bite… hard…
