Community here so desperate for change? Halo 1,2 and 3 were GOD TIER.
I get 343i are trying to branch out and make Halo their own but can you not understand for one minute why the veterans don’t want half the changes they’re making? It isn’t Halo, Halo 4 wasn’t Halo and Halo Reach wasn’t Halo.
There can be good and bad change and most of the change from the last 2 halo games have been terrible and I’m sorry 343i but Halo 5 looks like it will be just as terrible with terrible additions like spartan abilities.
“It’s okay now we made them default for everyone”
How is that suppose to change anything? That is terrible, just remove them already.
I like to remember them saying in the vidoc of 5’s beta video that these abilities will be a 4th layer to the triangle of Halo. But then I remember similar words being said for videos with armor abilities for Reach, so it’s kinda funny.

The community sure didn’t think so in their prime, at least in Halo 2 and Halo 3’s case. I still remember the sheer hatred displayed to Halo 3 in Bungie.net’s old Halo 3 Forum and Optimatch Forum. Hell, people were saying Halo 2 required less skill and effort compared to Halo: CE.

Armour abilities weren’t bad in themselves. However, players shouldn’t have stated with them, instead being placed around the map like weapons.

the difference being is those games turned out okay and after all the complaints the games enjoyed a nice long life span.
Halo Reach and 4 died within 3 months and 5 will die even sooner, this isn’t Halo. this is robbing the Halo name and pretending.
I’m unsure with some of the things I’ve seen in the Halo Guardians preview, but I don’t see how you think everyone now being able to spawn with the same gear doesn’t make a difference. It makes a great difference, it’s a stride towards the arena shooter on principle. Things like the abilities are negotiable for me, the main thing that has kept me in delight is equal starts, map control and no mention of ordinance drop.

One crucial difference I’m seeing is everyone starting out with the same exact gear. No Rock, Paper, Scissors bussiness going on from my understanding.

Yea, that is much better and I forgot to mention that. You no longer would be surprised at what someone does, because you can also do it.

You do realize you can only say that in hindsight, right? Halo 5 may crash and burn, but it may enjoy a similar lifespan as Halo 2 and Halo 3. Nobody knows what will happen to a game before it even releases or has a beta testing.
Prematurely saying a game will fail already gives you a biased opinion on it and you are probably less likely to actually give the game a fair try. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I doubt it will enjoy a similar lifespan, the two games prior to it have ruined all chances of that. Hardly anyone will be willing to get 343i a chance after Halo 4, couple this with the lack of Xbox One sales and the fact that hardly anyone will get this over Halo MCC. I’d say this halo has 75% chance of failure.
People also complain when games such as Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed stick to their formula and never try to innovate & evolve. Be open minded to these changes! If anything the proposed mechanics will make players feel much more “Spartan” than any previous game. Spartans are fast, agile, and very adaptable to any combat situation. Halo 5 is giving players exactly that: options. Not only options, but now they are baseline for everybody to remove the “randomness” of loadout AAs.
Color me excited. Innovation isn’t always bad while stagnation is rarely good.

I’m willing to wait and see what happens and judge the game by its own merits, not preconceived notions about it being destined to fail.

Yeah but neither H3 or 2 experienced the gradual ( and biblical) decline of their population
Bungie’s halo ended with reach whether we want to accept it or not it’s over, long gone. This is 343’s halo you guys want old halo back go make a petition to have bungie back down halo games but let’s be honest reach is proof that’s not a good idea lol. Veterans can play the collections till their thumbs fall off

Which is true, but can one really make the claim that Halo 5 will fall just like Halo 4 and Reach? It certainly doesn’t get a fair chance when people who haven’t even played it immediately conclude that it will.

That is unfair, but some people just take it to the extreme. The beta isn’t too far away for everyone to pick up.
It seems they’re trying to fix something that wasn’t broken, they don’t need to add new things to change gameplay like they’re doing, they need to add things that improve it. Everyone has heard the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”. I liked the BR’s scope the way it was, I liked Halo without sprint and disliked the ones with it. Bungie and 343i both tried sprint and it failed both times, sprint breaks Halo MP, so fix that 343i.
