Every day I read about weapons, vehicles, maps, gametypes, pre-order bonuses, ranking system, and gameplay, but never once have I read anything about Halo 4’s betrayal system. After Reach’s absolutly atrocious betrayal system, I am more concerned than ever about this issue, yet it has never been brought up or discussed. If Halo 4 is going to have the same issues, I cannot see the player base tolerating the kind of behavior that has over run Reach. Does anyone have any information on this topic? Can anyone reference a link?
The sheer thought of being betrayed just for a weapon again makes my skin crawl. I hope there is some kind of a vote to kick option, or some kind of a running betrayal stat that will filter out betrayers and place them with other betrayers so they can betray each other.

You bring up a very good point. However, the betrayal system in Reach was an issue from day 1. To me, I would think it would make more sense to touch on such an important subject right away based on the performance, or lack of, from the last game.
I would also like to add that Teabagging, the most immature and unsportsmanlike kind of behavior, was actually touched on. Teabagging was brought up in a weekly bulletin. Seriously!

Only problem was they called it “victory crouching”. Made me cringe.
It’s like the difference between saying heck and hell. Yeah, kinda the same thing, but one is really -Yoinking!- corny, and you’re a prim-and-proper dork for saying it one way.
> 3 strikes and your out seems the most simple way of doing it.
This is the best way to me. Every game, you get 3 strikes and you are out. For some reason Reach didn’t do it this way. At start, I believe it was 2 strikes and you are out. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I think they should just do kind of what 3 did but have it so if they betray 2/3 times in one match then the team gets the chance to vote to boot, like in L4D.

> Hell, I’d ask for a system to kick players who shoot you until your shields are down just to be an annoyance.
so you died an extra 2 times? that troll hasn’t succeeded at anything.
a system that allowed you to kick players who shoot you untill shields are down is going to cause alot of unwaranted boots, such as teammates walking onto your grenades, infront of vehicle etc, it will never work.
When a teammate betrays another one, they should do the 2-strike thing but only if a player has their custom/standard loadout (The latest loadout you spawned with). But, If someone with deferent weapons and/or new gernades gets betrayed, the player has the option to spawn with the new weapons/gernades/abitites he previously had. If the same or different teamate betrays him on purpose, it’s time to boot.
They should also have a rep system based on how many times they betrayed a teammate on any game. Then there’s an option to play with people who has good rep.

Yeah, I do argree. It is very annoying and G*Y when someone teabags. Almost every time on infection on reach when zombies kill the LMS, they all -Yoink!- him WTF

That would depend on what vehicle or weapon your in possession of at the time. If I’m in the tank or have the incineration cannon I’d call that a loss and a successful trolling.

your team still has it though, just a selfish player.
the problem that comes from other implementations is that people exploit it to boot people from the game, it actually allows for trolling then preventing it, 3 strikes means these people won’t succeed, or not as much as they would otherwise simply because after they force one betrayal they have to respawn, find the guy again and repeat, in the time to find the person you can encounter eneimeis, get into fights, instead of forcing another betrayal you might just be handing the other team a kill preventing you from getting the betryals needed for a boot.
I never had much trouble with the Reach system. The only thing I would change is giving a betrayed player the ability to force the player who betrayed them to respawn on a 30 second timer.
It would stop people betraying for power weapons, and is a way of punishing a teammate for playing stupidly without leaving your team down a player.

Your team may have it and it could be a selfish player, but I’ve seen trolls take the weapons wander over to the other and let the enemy kill them so that they get the power weapon. So it could be in the hands of a selfish player or a griefer.
I think 3 is still way to many, 2 is better. I mean how hard is it for an innocent player to avoid killing someone by accident. I mean ya we’ve done it occasionally but twice? Friendly fire is there for a reason, you’re supposed to be more thoughtful of what you’re doing. If you’re just tossing grenades and using power weapons without being mindful of where your team is then it’s your own fault.
Thing is the in game betrayal system will never be perfect and it can always be abused, either by using a higher betrayal count to their advantage to kill more people on their team, or by harassing and trying to get team mates to kill them so they get banned. They need a system outside of single games that complies their betrayals. That way you can root out the people that do it by accident and those who do it on a more common basis. Those who do it more get less chances with betrayals until they get a cleaner record.

betryal records don’t work, people can abuse that even more to betray people as much as they like without punnishment and other times people will be effected by people abusing it to get them booted instantly, betrayal record just makes it even easier to exploit.
2 betrayals is pushing it how ever are entirely accidental even if you’re not being reckless, 3 how ever is nothing but recklessness or on purpose so a boot is more or less warranted.

You give no reason as to why it wouldn’t work just that it wont. If there is a record tracking a persons betrayals why would they be able to betray a many people as they like without punished?
And I don’t know how people would abuse it to get others booted instantaneously unless they know who is on the list for less leniency in betrayals. It’s not like they’d send out a message of everyone on that list to all gamers.
