It is not 1997, anymore. Halo became an FPS, and now Loadouts are gone.

But it was, and it succeeded as one.
How has Halo done so far as a loadout-based shooter?
OT: Without AAs I wouldn’t really care if they made a Reach-style loadout system if the only difference between loadouts was the primary weapon, and if you could only choose between BR, DMR, or Carbine. Anything more than that I don’t want.
Personally, I would much prefer BR starts and actually give the DMR and Carbine a reason to be picked up over the BR. Something you can’t accomplish properly if they’re given to you off the spawn.

But it wasn’t. Originally in development, Halo was a 3rd person shooter.

That hardly matters, anymore. Why you felt the need to bring up Halo’s early development stage is beyond me.

Because you used “not supposed to be in halo in the first place” as an argument.

Before Reach’s announcement, have you ever thought to yourself, “Hmm, maybe adding Loadouts to an Arena Shooter might now work”?
Reach loadouts in matchmaking were almost always the same except for the armor ability. There are no more armor abilities in H5, so we don’t need those loadouts in matchmaking. There is literally no reason for them, save for possibly a few specific game modes that may or may not return. As far as custom games are concerned, of course we should have the choice to turn on the Reach style loadouts.

If we want to be -Yoink!- about it, Halo was originally going to be specially a RTS game with third-person elements to control a lead commander, or “Master Chief”.
The thing is, though, that was in its development. Nothing was final and everything was subject to change.
In general gamemodes? Absolutely not. The only ways loadouts that should return are in customs and maybe an Invasion playlist.
I have no idea where the disconnect is that people can rage against perks and AAs in loadouts, but somehow weapons get a pass as spawning choices. It has the same exact problem as those other mechanics with the added bonus of encouraging functional clones. “Balanced” loadout choices are either blatantly imbalanced or the weapons are so similar it makes no impact on playstyle. You may say well if its balanced it should be fine, but it isn’t, it still requires extra balancing efforts to select multiple spawning choices, and the end result gives us reskins with no mechanical depth or variety.
Let us have a balanced spawning weapon and let the rest of the sandbox do its own thing. I don’t have any sympathy for those who get ‘tired’ of spawning with the same weapon. I would rather have a diverse and unique sandbox than be able to choose what amounts to a purple/orange version of that exact same weapon. Its completely superficial.

Same thing different name. Technically whatever you start with is your “loadout”. But semantics aside, people like to create gametypes with multiple Loadouts for playing with your own playstyles. No reason Halo Reach or H2A Loadouts can’t be put in for certain gametypes within playlists. Contrary to popular belief Team Slayer playlists are not BR only playlists.
I’d also ask the same for you. You never had a valid reason for saying Loadouts were never meant to be in Halo.

They already confirmed that Halo 5 will be returning to Equal Starts, adding Loadouts to certain gametypes in MM makes no sense when they are trying to make Halo a balanced game again. And that is not the valid argument because the developers get to decide what Loadouts the players will be able to choose from, and can also apply to Custom Games as well because the party leader is the one that picks out Loadouts for their party members to use. And I do not need a valid reason when you should already know that Loadouts in Halo 5 is just wishful thinking.

Soy our entire argument is, “it won’t happen so don’t ask,”? That’s not an argument. They didn’t have to add Loadouts into H2A but they did. They put it in matchmaking as well for clear reasons. Some people want to play slayer that isn’t purely an AR pistol start or BR start.
And yes you do need valid reasoning unless you can show your magic crystal ball where you can show me that there will be no option for Loadouts in Halo 5. H2A showed no sign of them in early videos, but we saw how that turned out.
