What about Halo Infinite, makes it better than Halo 5?

Please provide actual arguments please. Things like “Halo 5 had Spartan charge/Ground Pound” or the “ Campaign was mostly Spartan Locke” are not arguments. Let’s have a fun debate.

Gameplay is outdated for a game in 2022. Movement feels stiff and robotic, and not fluid.

Art style also feel outdated and last gen compared to 5

Music feels like they didn’t want to evolve so they stuck to what people is used to. Which halo has never been known for. Halo was always about evolving

Weapon sandbox is extremely limited with a lot of weapons left out from previous entries. New banish weapons don’t really serve a unique purpose outside the fact it’s new. Halo 5 brought more complexity and variety. Ex: Hydra in 5 was a way better executed launcher than the one we got in infinite. The different variation of weapons make game modes like fiesta more enjoyable due to the unpredictability compared to infinite’s barebones bland version.

Sound designs sounds more modern than futuristic. This game takes place 200+ years in the future. Not current times

Customization is behind a paywall and cores. the things you get are straight up goofy looking for a halo title. Samurai’s and bubble jacket looking Spartans are not pleasing.

Campaign was uninspiring, bland, repetitive and relying on a villain from a different halo title. Halo has always showcased different biomes, different approach to missions, a large supporting cast and infinite did none of that. They instead gave us a story that added more plot holes instead of completing the story they did for 5. 5 gave us conflict from within the UNSC, being a part of a shanghelli war, arial combat, big battles, different enemies and a great plot. Using “truth” as the mystery to solve and expanded the halo universe was something that halo needed to “evolve”.

Infinite felt unfinished. It didn’t help that they removed that entire battle on the infinity for us to experience, but to have cortana “die” again, is straight up ridiculous.

I’m not even gonna bother. I don’t know why I responded in the first place. Halo 5 is trash, and this argument has been had a million times.

H5 fans lost, real fans won. Sort of.

We’re never ever going back to the way it was. Just, go play Halo 5.

Also anybody who thinks H5s campaign was good clearly doesn’t know anything at all.

This entire post is a setup. He’s obviously a H5 fan. I mean I am, too to some degree. I probably would’ve played it more religiously if Xbox didn’t -Yoink!- up with the release of the Xbox One. I think that’s what crippled the title. The only mode I can bearably play is Warzone Firefight.

Plus, the aiming in 5 is garbage. At least Infinite has a sliver of a chance of its aiming being fixed.

halo 5 forge was unprecedented in its creative capability, but now that I’ve compared the two, (halo 5 vs halo infinite), halo infinite is a significant improvement from a perspective of physics. i have no idea what goes in to computer simulated hyperbolic spaces, but the grappleshot is just plain awesome.

the grappleshot is like the si-wi from seveneves for when we have to grappleshot around lunar habitats irl

I can’t think of anything that infinite is better than Halo 5 because I’m looking at both games structure.

Opinions will vary, but for me looking at how Halo 5 was designed…

1, Maps designs in Halo 5 are a hell of a lot better in ever aspect of them.
2, Most of what made Halo Fun and made you think how you play wasn’t removed like Collusion, assassinations, etc…
3, There was an actual roadmap that there was a steady flow of content.
4, The game wasn’t built around a SP/Shop to create that FOMO.
5, There wasn’t that sense of being forced to play how 343 want’s players to play.

Overall Halo 5 offered a hell of lot more and I didn’t feel I had to pay my way each month or grind my but off just to get anywhere, and their wasn’t this BS “RNG” to try to get me to spend more time playing than I wanted to. Halo 5 even with it’s issues the game gave players the freedom to have fun, play how they wanted to play and didn’t leave you feeling you were cheated out of content.

Infinite is the complete opposite that the player base continues to drop off.

This is whats called a loaded question, especially given you want to arbitrarily take major flaws with the gam eoff the table straight away and claim “they aren’t arguments”

The inclusions of things such as spartan charge and ground pound as well as the inclusions of a ramped up sprint, a ramped up aim assist to combat sprint, the inclusion of headshot modifiers on things such as the AR
Map design
Armour design
Microtransactions
Loot Boxes
Warzone being a replacement for BtB
the fact Btb was “free dlc”

For ^%$# sakes man…the gravity hammer in H5 was “Free DLC”

Is Infinite a perfect game? Absoultely not
That said, in these matters everything is subjective and personal opinion and my subjective personal opinion is H5 is the second worse game in the series, second only to H4

Actually hilarious magnetism in H5. When people complain about “man controller bullet mag so strong” they haven’t seen nothing yet if they have never touched H5. Literally curving bullets all day every day, and that was INTENTIONALLY built into the game.

They jacked up the magnetism BECAUSE of that fast movement.

I even went back to play it once I got my Series X to see if anything improved and it felt exactly same. Less inout lag but still hard to aim.

also the fov in infinite is better

and cpu players in custom games

Exactly. The devs who made Halo 5 forgot that they were making a Halo game and not a twitch shooter so when they actually started playing, they were like “OH -Yoink!- I CAN’T SEEM TO HIT ANYTHING”

One thing led to another and we had space power rangers with magnet guns running around like sanic. Sure that’s the sorta gameplay which will jive with modern shooters, but that was definitely not a Halo game.

H5 was a good game, but a terrible Halo.

PS. No idea what OP meant when they said “Gameplay is outdated for a game in 2022. Movement feels stiff and robotic, and not fluid.”

Have they never played DOOM 2016/Eternal? It’s literally the same style of gameplay.

One looks like it evolved and try to be something other than Halo

One looks like it evolved while looking & feeling like a Halo game still as it should

Infinite ain’t perfect, but Halo 5 isn’t perfect either, I have 110Days in Halo 5 but I would rather play Infinite

The plot was more mysterious and interesting to me, the characters were better written and had more depth, the music was a great combination of new territory and old favorites, the movement mechanics felt less gimmicky, and most importantly the overall aesthetic was closer to the industrial military aesthetic of the original games.

Now, keep in mind that Infinite is still my least favorite after 5, and 4. But it was certainly a step in the right direction after some major missteps with 4 and 5. It needs to be rounded out and more complete, but what we did get I do enjoy.

halo infinite is better because there is no parallax when u have hexagonal anti desitter space?

and that simplifies calculations

and allows u to have cool cindershot testicular tortion particle effects

I have said this before, there were a lot of things wrong with Halo 5, but at least the campaign had varied map environments, and I liked having the Spartan AI in the campaign that could revive me, and also made it feel less isolated. Halo Infinite’s Campaign we have the Marines that we rescue in every objective (fracking boring) the marines are completely useless, I just want to kill them myself.

Also, I am not a fan of the grapple-hook, I think it ruins the flow of the game. Halo Infinite, there wasn’t even a partially clear path, or objective for what they wanted the game to be, and it shows. Halo Infinite, the colours and lighting is fine, but in PVP I watch players skating across the map rather than sprinting, I have never seen that in any other game, the movement is just off.

As you can tell, Infinite, and its Infinite problems, irritates me. In a shooter without proper hit detection, it not a good game, it may look good, but plays like crap, and the weapon sandbox is too small, basically all there is to use is the AR and the Sidekick, would it be that difficult to add a few fan favourite weapons back into the game … it’s coming up to a year since release.

I don’t know what positive comments to say about Infinite, it would be like rating a can-opener, I like the colour, the nice handle, it’s shiny, but it has one problem, it doesn’t open cans.

Yep, sure seems like a “debate”. Not a one sided argument.
If you really want to list why Halo Infinite’s pros are bad, you gotta do the same for 5.

  • One could argue that having armor coatings is better. For example, we now have coatings like Primal Glory and Halcyon days. If we were still using the same coating system as 5 we would be locked to the same reflectivity no matter what (unless the armor changes the reflectivity).
  • Custom Game Functionality is a good point, Halo Infinite’s seems to be in a rough state, but definitely has room for improvement.
  • PvE replayability is not yet in the game, however, it will come alongside the addition of splitscreen co-op which Halo 5 lacked.
  • Less bugs isn’t exactly fair. Halo Infinite was playable at launch while 5 was not. 5 has also had time for bugs to be mended, but Halo Infinite has not. Alongside this, Halo Infinite’s bugs seem to be worse/more difficult to repair than 5’s.
  • Halo Infinite arguably is better. We received a battlepass which drop multiple armor sets. And we have been getting various armor sets via the store.
  • Breakout has become somewhat of a fan favorite, I wouldn’t be surprised if Halo Infinite brings it back.

I prefer H5’s gameplay mechanics minus ground pound and spartan charge. Visually I like Infinite a lot more. Infinite campaign way better as well.
