What a rollercoaster of emotions.

This is what I know so far.

The good.

  • A release day. - Graphic looks better than last year. - Gameplay looks promising. - Joe is back at working on Halo, Yeah! - Cool Xbox and controller. - More Test flight soonThe Bad.

  • No Forge and co-op at launch. - No news of Firefight. - Nothing about Ray tracing - Season 1 cinematic is non canon or misleading. Same as Halo 4 cinematic opening. But it was awesome. - The game is rated T, so I guess no walls splattered grunt blood, and creepy food theme? - No new campaign footage. - No Legendary collection. Was hoping for cool stuff. - XP and Challenge seems bad. Almost like Gears 5 system? - No Assassination at launch. I want to stab. - Not all classic Halo weapon will be in the game or at launch? - No playable Elite.Have i miss anything else?

Delayed co-op
Delayed forge
No Dual-wield for those who like it
Only 1 biome

The good news is that most of your bad is ok… and there isn’t any ugly.

The only thing that bites hard in that list (for me) is Forge. But it’s coming. And they hinted at Forge flight (post game release).

not only is the progression system bad, there seems to be no progression system at all. no ranking system means you’re playing matches for 0 reward once you’ve completed a battle pass

No classic shotgun :’(

It really does feel like we’ve heard more about what we’re not getting at launch than what we are, which explains a lot of the frustrated feelings floating around about the game right now.

The potential silver lining though is that now that we’re down to the three month mark, we should be expecting marketing to kick into full gear some time in the next few weeks. I’ve got my fingers crossed that the reason it’s felt like a downpour of disappointing news lately is that they’re saving all the good stuff and reveals of new modes/features for these next couple of months before launch.

Takes massive hit of copium

Oh no…looks like we’ll just have to play the game for fun instead then :frowning: what a tragedy

a game in 2021 not having a ranking system to complement your match performance is indeed tragic

Here’s how I look at it:

Is no forge at launch a huge deal? No.
Is no co-op at launch a huge deal? No.
Is an unwillingness to show off more campaign at the moment a huge deal? No.
Is challenge only xp for battle pass a huge deal? No.
Is no ranking system a huge deal? No.
Is no playable elites a huge deal? No.
Is no assassinations a huge deal? No.
Is no dual wielding a huge deal? No.
Is monetized armor colors a huge deal? No.

But all of them combined?

Halo Infinite could still come out and be an amazing game, and I truly hope it does. Really. But you can’t tell me there’s no reason to be worried even a little bit at this point.

Pretty much nailed on the head. There’s only so much you can put to the COVID 19 issue where bad management is clearly the bigger issue.

The more I read about the game, the more I’m not liking how things are going to play out.

I understand that there is a lot of work put into what the developers do creating games, but I also know that have had a few years to tinker with the kinks. I’m just tired of companies drip-feeding content. I don’t care what the cost is that even if it was $100 for the campaign, ( I want a complete game,) not this half-backed content sucking the life out of it becase it’s being drip-fed.

There are enough companies that do this, and usually, it involves a shop that has become more important to companies nowadays than making a complete game.

The one biome is rough, I think one of the coolest things about Halo has been the varied biomes. Going from the beach of Silent Cartographer to a snowy mountainy area in Assault on the Control Room was awesome. Or even doing it within the same level with The Covenant in Halo 3, after deactivating the shield. One of my biggest hopes is that we will get additional “campaigns” that take us into new biomes, I can only imagine how beautiful they would look on the new engine.

Tell me about it. 343 has so much potential but some of their decisions are just downright backwards. I’ve never understood why

I must admit they really need to start announcing what will be at launch. Surely not just campaign and MP with a small handful of maps. These are the sort of details that are told 6-9 months away from launch of a game to generate hype and establish some consistent expectations. If we get within the 3 month window from launch and we still don’t have anything else to go by then they should reevaluate how to market a game.

The things I though that would have been there at launch.

  • campaign (solo and coop)
  • splitscreen
  • all classic MP modes (BTB, infection, griffball, CTF, etc)
  • numerous maps at launch
  • PVE modes like firefight (or Spartan ops but prefer firefight)
  • forge and theatre
  • an elaborate in game progression system
  • customer game browser
  • playable elites and new assassinations
  • season pass, battle pass, or whatever.
  • some new surprise modes to set it apart from other halos

From what we know at the moment, not only are some of the features above confirmed not to be in the game at launch or not at all, but a lot of others haven’t been confirmed at all.

I think I’m just sick of every piece of news I hear it’s one step forward and 5 steps backwards.

As long as you appreciate that for many, probably the majority, it’s five steps forward and one step back.

Everyone will have their bugbear. Mine is Forge. I was so looking forward to it and tinkering with the scripts…

But co-op means nothing to me. Similarly splitscreen. We don’t know maps and modes on launch so you can’t really comment either way. Ditto theatre and custom games browser. I can see where the progression system grates on people (still time for more info to save the day). PVE seems to be covered by bots at the moment (not the same - but tremendous potential). Playable Elites was niche - and expendable for day one. Assassinations were apparently turned off by almost everyone (so not worth their time and effort off the bat). Dual wielding was broken - never bring it back (I know, not on your specific list). The season and battle passes look quite good (still more info needed). And surprise modes wouldn’t be a surprise if we knew about it.

Glass 3/4 full people…

the game industry turning gamers into ADHD kids who can’t play games unless they have a million dopamine tricks is “indeed tragic”

Glad you touched on the weapons thing. It really feels like they’re more newer than older/classic weapons. Some of these weapons suck too, except the Skewer in my opinion. The pulse carbine is pretty wack, Commando is decent. I don’t know how to feel about he bulldog.

You can have fun with a game and have a meaningful rank up system. It’s why Reach is still considered the best Halo MP after 11 years. Have some standards dude.
