What A Disappointment

The weapons sound like pop guns and everything else sounds like it’s muted.

The load-outs make no sense.

The menus are completely foreign.

Typical Microsoft. They change everything just to change it. Rather than taking something that worked (like Halo 3) and making it better, for some reason they feel like they have to change everything, for no particular reason.

What a waste of $60.

Worse than Reach.

thanks for the update

You’ve got to be kidding me…

I only have an issue with certain guns. I’m more disappointed in the story than anything else, although the new menu is horrendous IMO. it’s messier and more sluggish than Reach.

Worse than Reach? I think not.

Well you do know those are real gun sounds so I guess all guns sound like pop guns. Also the menu to me is a big update I like change as long as the core gameplay isn’t changed. Another thing how are the loadouts confusing. You rank up get a spartan point then buy guns and other stuff with the spartan points if yiu have enough. To me Halo 4 is great.

Sorry to hear that you feel like you wasted your money, I’m personally a fan of each thing you stated. To each their own though, eh?

Someone’s butt-hurt.

I strongly disagree. More with the last part: “Worse than Reach”. HA!

I finished the campaign about an hour ago; It was solid. Did it with another person on Heroic and I was not expecting the campaign to be so short though. 5 hours. Though I guess it falls under my “short and sweet” and category.

In terms of Multiplayer, like I said, it’s solid. It’s Halo. Nothing more, nothing less.

Overall, I’d rate it about a 7.5/10.

The guns sound like pop guns?

You should hear it on my 5.1 surround.

FYI, if you don’t like change, go live in a bubble.

Also, reach was terrible.

Time to upgrade your TV if the guns sound like that.

To be fair, I was playing on my 32" Toshiba with just the TV speakers. I’ll have to try it on the 52" Sony Bravia with the Pioneer VSX-1020 (7.1 Surround). Maybe that will be better.

Beyond the very poor sound quality, I suppose my biggest problem is that I’m not a fan of all of the “bells and whistles” that seem to increase with every release. I enjoy games of skill. Adding all of the distractions that mean nothing (in terms of game play) takes away from the experience, IMO. But, if you insist on including a medal and a voice-over for ever move that is made in the game, at least make it obvious as to what medals are being awarded. At least in H:R the medals were easily distinguishable from one another. Here, the medals all look so similar that it adds very little to the game.

My statement about load outs is really based in my dislike of them. I much prefer the simpler, cleaner game play of H3 in which each player is similarly equipped. Armor Abilities were a huge step backward in that regard and including them makes for a much less competitive game…again, IMO. There are so many different weapons in these multi-player maps that the game is one big “oh great…another nuke”.

These, of course, are all my opinions. I was incredibly disappointed with H:R, but I played the heck out of it. I’ll likely play the heck out of H4 too. After all, I already spent the money. It’s simply a huge disappointment when they had the best game two releases ago and they continue to try and forget that it ever existed. My hope was the 343i would reverse that trend. It’s a shame, really.

I agree with you about all the “bells and whistles” as you say…what I really hope happens is when they release the new playlists they add a “classic” version of just plain old Halo, with new maps and guns.

I agree 100% about the menus.

Why do all the player names have to be sideways? Its just dumb.

You forgot the horrendous soundtrack :]

He has a point on the Menus, they are atrocious. I have thought that since the first time I saw them. That’s about all that he has a point on though…

Rofl. My A40s and their 7.1 surround agree. These guns are LOUD and feel incredible!

What a waste of the 10 seconds it took to read this post.

He’s right about the menu. I have spent too much time searching for certain things through the menu.
