What 3rd mode do you want?

Not sure if Warzone means the Halo 5 mode or a Battle Royale?

I’d like them to do a big map BR mode. I think that would be fun. Not sure if they can deliver it with this engine and reusing the campaign map might not be the best move. But on paper and from the fun I had with CoD; I like the idea.

I think we could do Warzone Halo 5 via the Forge mode. You just need a couple top men to put something together and polish it.

If I had the option I’d go into a more Battlefield/Battlefront style game where it’s massive battles on big maps; with different classes to represent all the species. But that point you’d be making a totally different game and would need whole new mechanics to support that. Halo built around small arena style gameplay.

Halo 4 was originally going to be supported for three years of content, with Spartan-Ops intended to be the thing that was to be the main story to bridge the gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5’s original intended story.

When it comes to post-launch content we received 4 map packs and a free Forge-World pack.

  • CRIMSON MAP PACK
    • Harvest
    • Shatter
    • Wreckage
  • MAJESTIC MAP PACK
    • Landfall
    • Monolith
    • Skyline
  • CASTLE MAP PACK
    • Daybreak
    • Outcast
    • Perdition
  • FORGE ISLAND PACK
    • Forge Island
  • CHAMPIONS BUNDLE - BULLSEYE PACK PORTION
    • Pitfall
    • Vertigo

And then we have the cut-content of Halo 4’s multiplayer maps.
The maps with the prefix file of “Z0” were cut maps from the Campaign and multiplayer that are still within the game files. Z07_Island would eventually be released in Halo 2 Anniversary as the Remnant map.

  • Z01_Fortress
  • Z02
  • Z03
  • Z04_Tower
  • Z06_Pillars
  • Z07_Island “Remnant
  • Z08_Experimental “Sinkhole
  • ZD_01_Extinct

And then we have the maps that were made by Certain Affinity, who were contracted out to make the multiplayer as 343 directed them to. Some of these maps were meant to be launched with the game but come back later in DLC, but that did not come to pass. However, CA_Lastr_Paintover would eventually be released in Halo 2 Anniversary as “Stonetown”. The ones below that do not have the prefix of “CA” are ones that were planned to be very late DLC and did not have files in the works yet but were intended for release in Year 3 of Halo 4.

  • CA_Blood_Bath “Deadlock
  • CA_Blood Pit
  • CA_Breaking Point
  • CA_Ching
  • CA_City “Forerunner City
  • CA_Constant_Strife
  • CA_Dish
  • CA_Escalation
  • CA_Gorge
  • CA_Lastr_Paintover “Stonetown
  • CA_Peanut
  • CA_Shipyard
  • CA_Standoff
  • CA_Station
  • Arrowhead
  • Covenant Underwater Technology
  • Genessis
  • Narrows Remake
  • ONI Bog

343 was ambitious at the time.
They did release Halo 4 with two campaigns - Chief’s and Spartan-Ops, with Spartan-Ops intended to last another two years.
Season 2 and Season 3 of Spartan-Ops were scrapped, the stories they told were instead added in as issues of Halo Escalations.

Hayabusa armor was intended to come out in Halo 4, but it never did. The model was complete and they never released it. It is not entirely sure why it did not come out in Halo 5, but it could be because 343 and Team Ninja couldn’t get the legalities sorted for another crossover between Dead or Alive and Halo.
Honestly, they could’ve just renamed the armor to “Ninja” or “Hanzo” and it would still work nicely.

The Mark IV was also supposed to come out in Halo 4, but it never got past the concept-art phase. At least Airborne Studios was able to make the model and publish it for Halo 5 Guardians.

Those are just some of the armors that we know were supposed to get as a possible Year 2 DLC. Perhaps some of the armor from Halo 5 was intended for release in Halo 4. Perhaps the Noble Team armors, Hellcat Armor, Security Armor, Gen-1 Helmets, and such were supposed to be DLC ideas for Halo 4?
Perhaps Breaker and Void Dancer of Halo Online & Halo 5 were intended to be DLC for Halo 4?
Perhaps Halo 2 Anniversary’s Centurion and Hoplite armors were to be DLC for Halo 4 that were repurposed for H2A’s multiplayer that shared the same engine?

Unfortunately we do not know the full extent of the DLC armor contents beyond Hayabusa and Mark IV.
There were a lot of skins cut from the game, so perhaps they were going to be sold to us later.
We know that the weapon skins of Halo 4 have been made available for MCC.
Who knows, perhaps Halo 4 MCC or Halo 2 Anniversary will receive the Hayabusa and cut skins?

As for what is relevant to the topic at hand?
I want Firefight to come to Halo Infinite.

that’s really all you had to say instead of going on why halo 4 failed and why 5 has req packs. i just think they cut the content so they could get more development time for 5.

Not true.

You made statements above that you asked questions, implying you are asking for information to back up my statements.
My responses hopefully brought more clarity as there was both cut content at launch and plenty of cut DLC.
This cut DLC content was likely one of the driving factors in why 343 adopted microtransactions because of the fact that they failed to ensure their post-launch profit goals.
They promised three years of profits to shareholders.
Shareholders got pennies in the first year post-launch and then received nothing for Year 2 and Year 3 post launch.
So 343 staff members now had the question of “How do we avoid this problem in the near future?”
Answer - Microtransaction packs.
And it worked in Halo 5.
Much less so in Halo Wars 2 with the Blitz packs since HW2 players loved Skirmish and Firefight more that Blitz.

i didn’t think you were gonna bring up so much, i just expected a simple yes or no maybe a little explanation. i still don’t believe it was a matter of 4 doing poorly that they cut content, if they did 3 years of content they wouldn’t have enough time to make halo 5, probably would’ve affected mcc too, and how would they plan to keep supporting a 360 game right a the turn of the console generation? i ask these questions because it all seems so far fetched that 343 had all these plans and failed to meet them, although with how the development of infinite went im more suprised they haven’t learned anything.

I like to be thorough.

Like I said, 343 was ambitious.
Halo 4 was going to be a short-lived live-service-via-paid-dlc sort of game. If it were successful, it would be declared to be ahead of its time.
But it wouldn’t have meddled too much with Halo 5’s development had it continued on its original intended path.

The post-launch content of Spartan-Ops was going to be the only content made by 343 though.
Liquid Development would focus on cosmetic DLCs.
Certain Affinity on DLC Map Packs.

MCC was likely not even a concept at the time, with Halo 2 Anniversary to be the main game to be done. But then someone decided to port over Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 into a single collection.
And they did it rather poorly might I add, with MCC needing six years of updates to be even remotely enjoyable; and that was just networking alone.

Halo 4’s Spartan-Ops was supposed to be the main bridge between Halo 4’s events and Halo 5’s.
Unfortunately Halo 4 was declared a failure in terms of post-launch content sales.
Spartan-Ops was scrapped and its remaining story told in Halo Escalations.
Creative Leads of Halo 5’s development swapped seats mid-development; causing the story to deviate from the original narrative that was being set up in Halo 4 and the books.

Ambition, when not tempered carefully, leads to failure through over-reaching and broken promises.

they clearly haven’t learned from past mistakes.
