The thing that everyone gets wrong about the argument between classic vs modern Halo is that they’re always trying to prove that one is simply the better version. At this point, I think neither one is better, rather, that it’s merely a preference, your taste in gaming, if you will. For some people, classic Halo honestly feels better, and to some, the opposite. At the end of the day, none of their arguments matter, they just like what they like and that’s that. And that’s ok! Although I’m not excusing those people who accidentally drop things on the ground and then call them art, but nonetheless, to an extent, gameplay quality is relative to the player. Personally, I enjoy the modern style more than the classic, but I want the classic style back simply because that’s what Halo’s gameplay was intended to be; and now it’s sort of lost its identity. But like I said, I actually enjoy the modern gameplay style more than the classic simply because it’s my taste in gaming. So, I want both styles of gameplay in Halo. But, I also know that a developer can’t do too much at a time whilst only having X amount of money. So, a simple solution: split Halo as a series, have half of the games revolve around Master Chief and give them the classic style as to bring back that original feel the series once had, and in between such games make Halo games with the modern gameplay style that revolve around other characters than Chief. That way, each individual game won’t have its resources split and will thus most likely be good in their own rights, and they will also manage to satisfy both types of Halo fans. Because honestly, I don’t think either gameplay style is necessarily better, they’re relative to the player, so just because I enjoy one over the other doesn’t make it the “superior” version.

Since they have focused more on modern mechanics sales have gone down and fan enthusiasm is very low

Coincidence? I think not.
