What 343 MUST do regarding to kbm vs controller situation

Here’s the thing, the people with good enough aim don’t play halo if they’re on M&K.

Halo is designed for controller input and Xbox players. Everything about it favors controller input to make the game more fun to play on controller. That should surprise no one. Plus there are no MnK Halo pros who’ve played Halo professionally for 2 decades on MnK. Halo Infinite is the first time PC players have the opportunity to use MnK input at an officially sanctioned Halo tournament. If you wanted to play Halo professionally, you needed to use a controller. That’s how it’s been for the last 21 straight years of Halo, that’s how you play Halo. So why would it surprise anyone at all if the best controller players have better accuracy than the best MnK players in Infinite, they’ve had a couple of decades of practice in MLG and ranked modes, whereas MnK players have had a couple of weeks.

You’re playing Infinite on PC in crossplay lobbies, aren’t you? It’s still a game designed for controller input, if you like playing the game with MnK on PC, at least be thankful for the opportunity. But this is still an Xbox game, why would that special secret sauce that everyone loves about Halo, the thing that makes Halo, well, HALO, why would they go and screw that up just so you can get 16% better accuracy on MnK?

MnK already has bullet magnetism but your HCS playlist idea is a good one. Another recommendation I would have us nerfing the BRs aim assist. I believe it is the chief cause of console accuracy advantage as unlike most of the sandbox it’s far too easy to use.

selection bias, why would they bother playing if they know they would be at a significant disadvantage? Would you play a game that you already know the outcome to?

I’d be interested in how the best controller players would do against the average mnk players with each weapon, heads up, 1 v 1, using the same weapons each time, with ZERO aa or bm for both players. In a situation where map or game knowledge is zero advantage… no we don’t even need to see this.

The truth is… for those who have extensively used both inputs for years can clearly, with no bias recognize that mnk is a superior input for fps games and with this experience can quickly tell that there is something obviously imperfect with balance and control when using mnk vs controller in halo infinte. Mnk players don’t want an advantage over controller players . We just want it to be fair and fair it isn’t. Just as it wouldn’t be fair in the above scenario.

I still use controller for many games. Anything with a lot of driving comes to mind. Forza, Rocket league even Gta5. Side or top down shooters. But on PC. I would never grab my controller for csgo or overwatch, even Cod. But players are doing this for Halo. I do understand that Halo was originally on console and many players started out playing with controller. Myself included. But since I primarily play on PC. I play all fps games with mnk and that doesn’t/shouldn’t change for halo.

Two things have become apparent to me when playing infinte is just the general aiming with mnk. I’ve never tweaked my sensitivity settings so much because something feels way off. Never needed to this in other games including MCC. The other more obvious is that aa and bm is op for controller.

Despite all this I still enjoy infinte very much and I think 343 has done an amazing job with this game and I’m grateful for the simultaneous release for console and pc. It’s also clear that 343 wanted/needed more time to make this game all that it can be. But despite this have made a competitor for one of the best halo titles. I think when the game is complete it is a game that will live on for years. It’s my hope that they find solutions for this and every issue. Problems like these are reasons that many players walk away and never look back on otherwise amazing games.

Yeah this is something that is overlooked a lot. I think if the BR aim assist was nerfed it would reduce the advantage controller players have to a reasonable level.

Who’s to say it would mess it up? Halo CE had practically no aim assist. Everything on Halo Infinite has little aim assist except for the BR. Nerfing the aim assist will not ruin the special Halo formula. And your whole belief that aiming skill is not transferable between games and MnK pros who are good at aiming in every other game they play must practice aiming because Halo is some special unique game that is that different is laughable.

He never said that. People have been happily playing halo on controller for 2 decades. He’s saying there’s no need to ruin that based on an accuracy chart with no factual link to controller aim assist.

You claiming that CE had no AA is laughable. I have played it both on MKB and controler, it has a lot of AA.

And MKB-pros are used to games with a very low TTK and Halo has a bigger TTK, that means you need different skills then in other skills, so ofcourse it plays differently. It’s not the quick aiming they need to practice, it’s the staying on target they need to practice, since that was not/less needed in other games.

The easiest way to fix this is to make it to where there’s an option to turn cross play off.

Look if you’re on mouse and keyboard and you don’t want to deal with someone who’s on the controller because you feel that aim assist is too overpowered then turn cross play off same goes for controller if you feel that mouse and keyboard has an advantage turn cross play off and if you’re not bothered at all and you just want to play the game keep it on.

No factual link? What other explanation is there? It’s obviously aim assist.

People have been playing halo on controller for 2 decades. Of course they’re gonna be more accurate.

It’s not laughable. People have gone into the original code for CE and it had the lowest bullet magnetism of any in the series, also has low aim assist. The only time you’ve spent on CE is clearly in MCC which is based on a faulty port.

Halo CE has a good amount of aim assist. It’s just more projectile based so you need to lead your shots more with wespons like the magnum or sniper.

It’s about average. The bullet magnetism bus where it’s really low.

Apologies for the low quality vid. It’s an old famous video. Watch the pistol vs the BR.

I know how the aim assist works. All the games leading up to Infinite have seen decent amounts of aim assist. Enough for me to tell you that nerfing the BR is a misstep.

This isn’t a sandbox issue. It’s a matchmaking issue. These problems don’t exist if everyone uses the same input.

I got into Halo starting with reach and have been playing ever since. The aim assist ain’t the issue. Crossplay is.

I’ve played Halo a lot and it’s always on controller I’ve never played it on PC I don’t like mouse and keyboard I’m more of a controller player and Halo infinite aim assist is definitely without a doubt weaker than any other Halo game Halo 2 is a perfect example go in that game and you can easily tell the difference between Halo infinite and Halo 2 Halo 2 has a lot more aim assist than you would expect but there’s a skull that allows you to turn it off when you’re playing the campaign and I actually prefer that it’s pretty fun it allows you to actually nail shots without having any assistance whatsoever

Also if you don’t like that controller has aim assist and you’re going to say that it’s overpowered when it is actually the weakest it’s ever been instead of complaining and saying that aim assist needs to be nerfed and lowered maybe just maybe ask for cross play to be optional to be something you can turn on or off

No the stats do not speak for themselves because no matter what on controller or mouse and keyboard certain players are going to do better than others and honestly the easiest way to fix this is instead of changing the way things work how about just turn cross play off or make it a option it would easily fix this because if you don’t like crossplay then you can turn it off it’s as simple as that

What they should do is very simple.

Allow the user to select a que that is exclusive to their input. Controllers vs controllers and kbm vs kbm.

The user is performing fundamentally different actions on one input vs the other and there is no satisfying level of balance for everyone when it comes to this issue

A very handwavy response without a lot substance. I’m asking you for a specific reason. If not aim assist, what exactly is the cause for the difference in accuracy. Is it the maps? The weapons? Tell me a specific facet of the game and explain how that justifies the difference in accuracy. Im 99% sure you can’t, unless that facet in some way is tied to the advantage AA provides.

The rest of your comment indicates to me you’re not wanting to have an actual discussion, you’re just trying to shut the discussion down. “Halo has always been on controller, so just use controller bro”, while disregarding 343 campaigning this as a true crossplatform game, where pc wouldn’t be relegated as second class citizens.

What a joke that turned out to be.
