What 343 don't understand..

They don’t understand that they don’t have to keep adding things to the game to make it better, simplicity is good, new weapons, vehicles, armor abilities, aren’t always the answer. Same went with the CoD series. Game developers need to up their game and realize they don’t need to add a buttload of fancy do-wickies to improve it.

I miss when everybody was the same speed and camo was just a powerup

Um, did you miss the rather large thread about the less options Halo 4 has?

The Halo series of games is like an old, dusty pizza.
Halo 4 is like adding extra toppings to that old pizza, in the vein hope that it will become more appealing.

Halo 4 had tremendous potential, yet none of it was realized. In order to make it a fresh game, as well as a worthy sequel to Halo 3, 343i had to throw the old pizza out and make a new, similar one.
Instead, they kept all of the worst elements from previous titles, and gave it unnecessary changes/additions.

He’s talking about gameplay mechanics, not custom game options…

In many aspects, I can agree. In some of the Forge maps, I welcomed back the static power weapon and power-up respawns, and the closer ranged environments they had. Though I do find that the indicators do help bring alot of action as many players will brawl over the rockets, with the teams helping each other out to support whoever had the balls to make the jump.

But at the same time, I do like a good number of new additions to the game. I’ve always wanted a weapon selection in Halo. To me, it kept the gametype selection less congested from the AR/BR/DMR/Covie starts and kept them under 1 gametype so we’d focus more on what map we want. Though there are imbalances, tweaking can make this feature more welcomed than it is now.

Tweaking is needed, and I never expect 343 to get EVERYTHING done right the first time. Hell, Bungie never had everything right in their games, what makes other studios different? Still, I’m enjoying my time in Halo 4. That’s all I care about.

We have less weapons, less vehicles. What are you talking about? And don’t tell me about that forerunner Yoink! those are all just weapon clones. I want NEW guns like the plasma launcher, or the plasma repeater, or the brute shot, or an updated spiker that doesn’t suck. Whats the difference between DMR, BR, and LR? Nothing, except that I just ordered the tier list! At least the Carbine is different! The boltshot is NOT a handgun, at close range it’s an OP shotgun, and at mid range it strips shields like the plasma pistol, but can than follow up with headshots like a pistol. The thing is Yoink! ordnance in my pocket! The weapons in this game are horrendous!

Whew, rant over. Seriously, you can do that with the boltshot. I also EMP-punch a lot in with the PP, and use the binoculars to scope with the railgun (thought I was the only one who noticed). Always finding new ways to use my guns…

the OP bullet magnetism of the DMR and the surprise you’re dead Bolt Shot and having plasmas grenades and pistols on loadouts? ugh…I use them but it makes the game and the kill encounters too quick and less skill/tactical based.

What was the difference between the SMG and the AR or Suppressor? What’s the difference between the Spiker and a Plasma Rifle or AR? You ask for more weapons, yet they were also redundant.

Same with vehicles that came and went. What’s really special of the Prowler? Or the Specter(Which is easily open for headshots for the driver and can have its nose ram the hill in Coagulation and slow you down in Covie BTB in Halo 2)?

I share the same frustations with alot of the weapon imbalances, like I stated earlier in the previous post. But I like the concepts of some of the new additions Halo 4 brought in.

…And calm the eff down. Alot of the old stuff was not that great, especially with how they were implemented and left off when Bungie released and patched their games.

I’m rather disappointed in the community. Mostly those who have given up on all the additions 343i gave us, who seem to believe that balanced gameplay simply cannot be accomplished.

Here is a question I ask to the certain group of people which I speak of… have you even made an attempt to create something which uses the H4 sandbox, while keeping it balanced at the same time?

Is it a difficult task? Yes,
mainly due to the increase in variety of the sandbox, and the limited custom gametype options.

Is is impossible? No, I believe not.

I can empathize with all the people who are upset, over the fact that 343i made some drastic changes and alarming oversights in the games development, but I’ve noticed some of these people which are going overboard with all the complaints, and sound like a bunch of self-entitled a***holes. There are also things they seem to take for granted way too much. Did we get any of the cool stuff back in the days of Halo: CE or Halo 2?

So what if they weren’t able to get features like Campaign/Spartan Ops Theatre into the game before release. It didn’t even matter to us 10 years ago, so why is it such a big deal to people now?

Why can’t people see the potential most of this new stuff brings? People need to realize that this isn’t Bungie’s game anymore. I’m sure 343i are probably working to make Halo enjoyable for everyone, and not just the social group (despite what majority of the competitive players, or “whiners” believe), but they have to make it their game now.

If you don’t like it… too bad, they are doing it anyway.

I’m confident that 343i can right their wrongs, and bring Halo back to its former glory. We just need to give them some time, and a chance. Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know.

TL;DR…

Read it and stop being ignorant.

But Call of Duty has tonnes of customization and stuff so why cants that Haloz???

Every human is blind to what real perfection is, even I.

> But Call of Duty has tonnes of customization and stuff so why cants that Haloz???

Because, billy, Call of Duty is Call of Duty! And Halo is Halo!

In all honesty, they’re taking out too many things and then replacing them with things that have potential but at its current stage doesn’t work.

I think a lot us either skipped over this thread or just didn’t see it, but I’m posting it here to help you guys out. https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst182645_Upcoming-Competitive-Playlist.aspx

Some early details on this playlist:
