Guys, I want to bring to light what we are actually doing with the sprint mechanic. Spartans have always had the ability to sprint, except now you can’t shoot while you are sprinting. Now what kind of super-soldier can’t shoot when they are running? It’s pathetic.
Think about it, how did Spartan’s get across massive hills and islands in a matter of seconds before? It is because they were sprinting while staying alert and being able to shoot.
These new Spartan’s are nothing but a gimmicky downgrade from our old spartans who could shoot and sprint. I’m disappointed that we are moving backwards in technology which doesn’t go with the lore at all.
People say they get tired of “walking at a snails pace”, even though in the game’s you’re literally walking 15mph or three times the average human walking speed.
I once considered the “you’re already running” argument to be an exaggeration, until I realized in-game that it’s actually factually correct…just watch how quickly the numbers change with campaign waypoints.
I challenge people to play CoD without sprinting if they want to see what a more realistic walking speed is like. That is walking. This isn’t.
Sometimes I watch the textures on the ground. Not just for the sake of doing so, but because of just how quickly they scroll past Chief’s legs every time I move.
He is moving incredibly fast… It’s even more apparent in Halo 2 and Halo CE.
Doesn’t change the fact that you feel like like a moving brick with zero mass. No matter what the numerical stats are, player gets zero feedback on “moving fast”. I literally forgot who/what I was supposed to be playing as during H3, only exception being boarding a tank and smashing it to pieces.
Movement in Halo CE-3 adds nothing to immersion. If anything, it breaks immersion. For me it has done just that.

Agreed. Man halo 3 especially it feels so slow it felt slow back when it first came out. Heck i remember after halo 2 people wanting sprint alot. Heck i remember seeing starry night trailer and going “yes finally we have sprint in halo” and were greatly disappointed by the slow feel of the game. though this does have to do with FOV

It has almost everything to do with Field of View.

At least somebody gets it… “Sprint” should have never been added as a “new feature” it just throws the Halo vibe off. You WALK in CoD and actually sprint when you toggle sprint. You get it Jubs v2, good for you.

It is the nostalgic feeling of splitscreen play that many believe the new Halo’s have slow movement. And that’s with both Reach and H4 having post-TU basemovement speeds equal to that of MLG’s Halo3!!!

Steroids?
you pump anything with enough adrenaline, it will go fast.

So… you’re saying sprint is illogical from a realism point of view? Hmm.
It’s funny, because whenever pro-sprint posters us lore as an argument, anti-sprinters remind them loud and clear to only argue based on gameplay, not how realistic it is.

It is funny, cause that’s exactly what I was getting at. I was trying my hardest to parody every pro-sprint poster ever. This just goes to prove that no-sprint is the way to go.

We should try that. What animal do you want to use first?
would you also say all the cutscenes are incorrect because when you see anyone sprinting, they lower their guns?
in my opinion the lore is not a good excuse for sprint in multiplayer, i believe sprint can bring good things to the game play, and still keep the classic halo feel.
and that sprint could have been implemented better. but now its difficult because the community is split.

Seriously Ramir377, you think it’s about being factually correct?
It’s about the (subjective) perception of speed.

I would love to see if a turtle explodes at mach 5. Just imagining spartans riding sea turtles at 150 mph into battle

If you pay attention to halo wars, there is an upgrade for the marines that increases there movement speed. It is called adrenalin rush and halo wars was one of the first games inside the story line
spartans have super human hustle. compaired to me or you or the guys who posted above me
yea they are sprinting.
but for a spartan to “sprint” ehh…you know what you can go out side right now…grab a stick…and run while pretending its a gun.
it would be hard to maintain any kind of accuracy at a full speed run

Really? You’re going to play the immersion card? You would rather be immersed into a game by being able to feel fast than having good gameplay mechanics? That is just… wow… that is what’s wrong with gaming today. You should go work for 343. They love your kind of thinking
