Were there AI assassination to take out Spartans?

I have play my fair share of halo 5 campaign (on other account) on every difficulty. I have also noticed covenant and promethean enemies drawing back for that “final strike” when you know it’s coming.

As many assassinations that are available for animation purposes, I can’t help but wonder if 343 put into consideration the same types of animation for enemy AI. You get both orbs destroyed on a knight, it opens up it’s face making it vulnerable, elites shields are dropped they point and yell at you as well. Soldier guards will actually shoulder thrust you. I can only imagine the animation a grunt mech would have for a finishing move, on a VEHICLE no less. Jackal cover is broken, they cowar in fear by covering their heads. I haven’t seen a vidoc of AI animation for halo 5, just the creation of video.

If anybody can shine a light on this question I would appreciate it. I think it would look amazing for Spartans to be taken out during warzone firefight or camapign in general with some complex assassination from a promethean. I have a few ideas if someone can point me in the right direction :). What does everybody else think?

While it sounds cool, it would be incredibly frustrating for the player. Like I get it, I’m dead but the game is making me sit through this animation, watching an AI kill me slowly instead of just getting it over with and starting the respawn timer.

It’d be even more annoying in Warzone Firefight with the long respawn timers later on.

I would enjoy a Splinter Cell type Halo mission. One where the Covenant or whoever is simply some bad -Yoink- assassins. You have limited ammo, and possibly reduced HUD capabilities.

You mean like how the crappy revive mechanic works in Halo 5’s campaign?

Man, I hate that crap.

Kind of, but not really. At least the revive mechanic allowed you to be revived. Forcing a player to sit through a guaranteed death is just boring - let me respawn and get on with it.

I agree, but then that’s no different to multiplayer when you get assassinated, which is fair punishment for failing to cover your rear.

The way I see it, if it’s uncommon and completely preventable, then there’s nothing inherently wrong with it; it’s not so different from watching an enemy walk up and fire a couple a rounds into your corpse anyway.

Assassinations in MP is a whole other argument - I’d rather they weren’t there but that’s probably not a popular opinion.

It’s completely different from an enemy walking up and firing shots into you since you are already dead at that point and in the process of respawning.

Being assassinated by A.I. combatants would make things very frustrating. The Zealots would be especially dangerous as a result of their nature.
