To be fair, Entrenched is the least popular core too. Doesn’t mean unpopular content should be removed. I don’t play because I don’t want the core at all, not even a little bit. I don’t want to run around looking like a 1940s tin man. Similarly I don’t want Rakshasa since it looks like they made a suit out of a garbage bag and random trash. There’s a good possibility it is unpopular because nobody is playing S2
A lot of people already complained in S1 that the armor looks too damaged and dirty, and they wanted clean armor like the HCS coatings. For people that want sleek clean Spartan armor, S2 would be a downgrade that they wouldn’t be interested in
Some people are just sick of the game and the population has declined in general so LSS wouldn’t do well in low population anyway
LSS was a fun mode, but eventually that new Battle Royale mode will come or whatever in another year or two. Unfortunately LSS is stale and limited to BTB maps, which we have hardly any of, and most of the maps suck for LSS
I’m sure the mode will come back with a new popularity when Forge brings actual good maps for the mode

I believe it. Not sure I can blame the BR elements within the game, or if it is just not fun for other reasons. Most players that really like the BR games dropped halo real quick and likely didn’t even bother with LSS.
In my mind, this doesn’t bode well for the Halo BR that is rumored to be in development. Any BR enthusiasts out there care to chime in on how this could fair better than LSS?
If the rumors and the leaks are anything to be believed, the special mode is not so much a battle royale as it is a warzone base defense, using 6-8 teams of 60-80 leader players supported by bots, or something like that. You’ll have limited lives, but you attack bases, pick up tools, hack machines, including Sentinels that can be used to defend your base.
It’ll likely be similar to playing Campaign, but we try to defend bases or claim as many as possible, while killing enemies and staying alive, earning points or scavenging to get better weapons.
It’s gonna be LSS Multiteam BTB Warzone cracked out, so goes the screenshots and leaks anyway. It still has two more years of development, so who knows if the end result won’t meet the expectations. Wouldn’t even be surprised

Here I was thinking that whatever this mysterious LSS is was actually some kind of loss for a moment.

I am still waiting on co-op for the campaign. I was hoping for a Reach style campaign co-op, but at this point I am just hoping for any campaign co-op
It’s not the lowest though. Rumble is the lowest. They don’t want to remove Rumble because it’s a staple Halo playlist.
Doesn’t surprise me because I know I’m not alone in hating it.
That said, 343 needs to evaluate why people dislike LSS rather than wholesale removing it. Is it because people were “forced” to play it for two seperate events, and subsequently got hard burned out on it? Is it because the objectives arent fun? Is it because of some other factor?
343 needs to put work into improving these modes and identifying why they dont work or why they’re not preferred. 343 also needs to live with the fact that Slayer is unequivocally the most popular mode in Halo, and accept that modes like LSS are always going to be underpopulated.
Long and short of it, is that 343 needs to put more effort into Halo Infinite than the none at all it feels like theyre putting in.
No it’s not a contradiction. So picture this. [The way I’m saying “you” below is about game companies]
One situation: You have a playlist no one, or very few people, plays. That’s a low population playlist. It’s not that you lack players(although you could lack players and also have a low pop playlist), it’s that no one wants to play that mode.
Second situation: You have 100 playlists. You are dividing the population. Usually the only time it’s a problem is if the overall population is low and people are interested in all of those modes. That’s the key here, people have to be interested in the options to divide the population. Otherwise, those playlists are just low population and need to go.
So, the con of too many [good] playlists is a divided population. The con of a bad playlist, is a waste of server power because no one is playing it.
When I played LSS it was 30s-1m during peak and 3m during slow hours to get a game. If it’s 3m+ during peak right now, I can see why they’re dropping it. I didn’t like it at first, but then I figured it out and started having a lot of fun. Getting up to sword is a great time.
BUT! If playlist wait times are bad across the board, then it’s a Halo Infinite problem and it points to why they don’t want to have more than a few playlist options at once.
Halo Infinite at least had seen the most players in Halo’s history, yet they were worried about dividing the population… it made no sense. It’s not the only reason, but I argue not having more ways to play when they had the huge attention of new players, they might’ve retained them for longer to get them playing the new stuff they’re working so hard on.
I think attrition should have its own playlist. It is really great.

LSS literally brought me back to Infinite. And I’ve played it daily since the launch of season 2. It’s an amazingly good Halo mode imo. High stakes. High fun. What’s absolutely stupid is 343’s excuses for removing it (low pop & UI limit) amid a season literally called “Lone Wolves”
Population is waaay to low on all playlists. I’m getting matched to the same players day after day.
lol wow thats total crap.
they dont even bother adding varying ranked game mode listing no warzone or anything. Then they decide to remove one of the very few good games mode listing they actually have
Did no one playtest the Slipspace Engine to ensure it can support numerous new playlists? Did no one think Halo players WANTED new playlists? In a Live Service game? Baffling. I hated Last Spartan Standing, but this game has NO CONTENT, we didn’t want LSS or Attrition removed, just more content added in.
They need to add these modes back into matchmaking eventually, and a solid patch for Slipspace to support infinite new content added overtime.
Not too late for 343 for save their game by NOT removing LSS.
