"Were it so easy?"

You should remember this quote. It was said by Thel “Arbiter” Vadam in both the beginning and the end of Halo 3. If you’ve seen the Destiny ViDoc, then you probably heard this quote, “Whoever knew Halo would grow so big?” Perfect question…who knew?

Team Throwdown launches tomorrow and that’s the reason for the thread title. “Were it so easy?” Team Throwdown should have been Slayer Pro. Even if it wasn’t, it still should have been at launch. But this playlist was made with the help of ex-MLG Pro’s. Why didn’t we have their help at the start though? Why didn’t we have people who knew the competitive community and competitive play with the exception of MLG creating a competitive playlist at the start?

Quantity, doesn’t equal quality. Halo 4 sold more then a box office movie, yet it lost so many players and Halo fans. Let me say something to you 343. Changing a game completely around, doesn’t attract players. A new player can pick up an FPS learn the controls and have it down within a week. So why change everything about Halo 4? Fewer playlists, fewer options. The famous Burger King quote “Have it your way” Applies perfectly to Halo 4’s “play your way” Or playstyles. It has it’s pro’s and it has it’s cons. The cons are, it ruined the game! Some stuff works for other FPS’s, Halo has been a unique game for 13 years!! There were so many great things about the old trilogy, and theres a lot of great things about the new trilogy and it has the potential to be built upon and be better! But adopting so many mechanics from other FPS’s can sometimes be a bad thing. People come back to Halo for a lot of reasons. One of the reasons is the uniqueness of the franchise and of the games themselves. It’s the same thing with the popular MMO, WoW. People keep coming back to it, nothings been able to take it down yet. Nothing…has been able to take away Halo’s uniqueness. But yet with Halo 4, the uniqueness is not there. Yet with Halo 4, theres a lack of so many things, so many things that this title can bring upon itself to become perfect!!

Were it so easy to create a unique quality Halo title for the start to this new trilogy? Yes, it was easy, but the opportunity wasn’t taken to do it!! Were it so easy to fuse, Halo 3 and Reach together, it was, but it wasn’t done correctly!! There are so many things missing from both games that can make Halo 4 get up and keep walking instead of falling down over and over. But these things are not seen. The uniqueness of Halo 3 and Reach was not taken and slammed into Halo 4!!

Halo 4 can get back on it’s feet and start walking again, but not if you don’t work with the community to make it that way 343!! There are a lot of great things on both the Halo 4 forums and Matchmaking that can wake this sleeping Halo game up!! This new trilogy has so much potential, and you 343 have to realize it! It started with Team Throwdown, now just keep that going!!

Were it so easy - Thel Vadam

Yup.

The content this game is receiving now should have been there to begin with. It’s probably too late now.

This. slow clap

Were it so easy?
Fileshare and Team Throwdown should’ve been available from the start. The Majestic Map Pack looks extremely promising. A shame that this game gets better while the population gets worse. I could honestly care less about population, but it’s a shame things get better while they also get worse. A pity, as this is Halo.

Let us hope that Halo 5 starts with a bang… and a beta.Halo 4 dug a pretty deep hole and i don’t see it getting out anytime soon.Halo 5 at least has a chance to start outside the hole and run for the hill.Perhaps even make it to the top of the hill and keep it.

Never thought I’d see a post from you again. Good read.

Go grab your Halo 3 disk and jerk off on it if you are so upset with the way the game has changed. While I agree with some of what you said, I still think the game is excellent, especially it being 343’s first.

Team Throwdown won’t change anything. It does not look like a very competitive playlist at all. It’s kinda of sad really.

Well that escalated quickly.

It’s just things like the OP said that make me wonder just how much research went into making Halo 4. I have to wonder who thought making Theater work only for Multiplayer, taking away Forge features, taking out gametypes and custom options, making the Terminals viewable only through Waypoint and requiring four novels worth of text to be read to understand the story was a good idea.

I never said that 4 was better than 3, simply that if he wants the feeling of how Halo ‘was’, then to go whack off on his halo 3 disk. I’m going to have to ask you to person your anger level.

Or…why not have a Classic playlist in Halo 4 that plays similarly to how the old Halos did? Being immature and responding angrily to others won’t solve anything.

Neither will creating thousands of threads complaining about the lack of a ‘classic’ Halo playlist. Complaining about the same stuff over and over again won’t solve anything.

With the Boltshot getting a nerf and the aforementioned Team Throwback, I’d disagree.

How about the custom game options? Or the DMR nerf? or the CC buff? Or starting with two pulse grenades? Or the vehicle ‘imbalance’ on exile? Or having weapons spawn on maps instead of ordinance? or the active camo nerf? or the PV nerf? Dude what’s changed is totally outweighed by what hasn’t. Your point is moot.

I feel as if 343 wanted to make their mark on the beloved Halo franchise. In doing so they changed so much, just for the sake of change.

The irony in this is that these changes were completely unnecessary and, to be completely honest, unwanted.

Do you think they didn’t hold a public beta just so that they could hide these changes, because they feared criticism?

Yeah, I know all of those are problems and I sure hope they get fixed. I’ve complained about plenty of those myself. I’m not defending 343i by the way, but you did say complaining about the same stuff won’t solve anything…well I saw some things get solved…hopefully.

If I was 343 I would not listen to you nether.Pointless attacking of someone else’s opinion is not good for anyone.Unless you want a cutscene of what was stated above.
