There isn’t an actual code displayed in the email - just a button (link) that says “Get your free gift” and it takes you to Xbox.com with the code pre-filled in the redeem box. All you need to do is click redeem.

If you played Halo 4 online before November 20th at 11:59pm EST, you would have received such an email today from Xbox Live. If not, or if you have the wrong email on your Live account, etc., there is no way to get it at this point.
