But the core engineers working on Infinite were primarily on 18 month contracts and have all moved on…
I just want to play a halo game that compares to other games in terms of content. The core of this game isn’t terrible at all. It does have a lot going for it, what’s there is fun. But there’s only so much I can play on the same what feels like 3 maps, some weird lag (desync) issues grenades not blowing up or doing a speck of damage after it lands under someone’s feet and issues around progression and terrible challenge system…
All this needs to be fixed asap. It rlly bogs the whole experience down. The game ends up feeling repetitive. Not sure how you think launching a game without a simple Spartan rank that is staple in every other game in the series and in the market today for EVERY other game is a good idea either. There’s not even a stats page I can see inside the game, I have to go to a third party site.
I mean, a game dev cycle should be about that. Those Contractors must have robbed them blind. ![]()
343 came together under a love for the revenue that halo brings. I have no doubt that there is passion for halo in the studio, but it is clear that passion is stifled by a higher priority for profits.
Unfortunately, this seems to more and more be the case in AAA gaming.
Studio starts, makes a passion project with backing thats turns into a hit franchise. Franchise becomes a profitable name, more execs and corporate hires get involved, staffing and timeframes change, project becomes more focused on crunch, microtransactions, and advertising riding off of the big name rather than a polished product made with love, game suffers and is either revitalized only through significant effort or dies and moves on to the next unpolished game made under crunch.
And its a shame because I’m sure there are some people at 343 who are talented and/or passionate about the series and the game they work on. I know the team behind Forge in Halo 5 was -Yoink!-ing incredible.
