Just found out there will be no dual wielding and no weapon upgrades in Halo Infinite this is a very poor decision in my opinion especially considering the fact how poor the amount of ammunition is that we can carry and how much the weapon can hold I would have loved to upgrade to that
They cut out weapons upgrading since july demo, now there will instead be some special forms of existing weapons to find like in Halo 5.

And the ammo for those also massively stink
I do wish dual wielding was available in campaign and the lack of playable elites rules out any UNSC vs Banished type mode which bums me out. But I’m happy they ditched upgradable weapons. I think being able to find weapon variants hidden throughout the game is a much better choice for Halo. I’m not trying to level up my Battle Rifle for a different scope like I’m playing COD or something.

Weapon upgrading just seems to far away from Halo’s DNA. It’s not Destiny: Halo’s campaign sandboxes have always tried to encourage a mix of weapons and playstyles rather than letting you carry a single weapon throughout - without some specific scavenging.
Plus Infinite looks like it’s adding more new weapons to the Sandbox than any since Halo 3 - need to get people to experience them. You’re totally without any support to begin with in campaign: it’s entirely reasonable that you’ll be scavenging weapons and ammo.
Dual-wielding in MP is a non-starter for balance reasons and the same probably goes for campaign. Even if they could overcome that, we’ve already seen the importance of Grappleshot and equipment: if you were dual-wielding you’ve throwing the second weapon down every so often for that.
Of the weapons we’ve seen so far the only ones I could evem see being dual-wieldable would be the Mangler and Sidekick and they both look like they are designed as sidearms.

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment about dual wielding in multiplayer but there’s no denying sometimes it’s just good wholesome fun to mow down a pack of grunts with 2 SMGs in campaign. Honestly, I’ve wondered if I should seek therapy based off how much I maniacally laugh doing it.
I thought duel weird did half damage so you really don’t have that much ammo?
I honestly like the reduction of ammo. It just feels more realistic and presents more of a challenge in campaign.

Oh yes why would we not want to make our weapons better

Halo it’s not a reality-based game if it was we won’t be wearing powered armor in fighting aliens on the giant ring world that can kill everything within 25000 light years

Because it’s a videogame and part of the challenge and fun is to find new weapons to use throughout the campaign? Ammo is a challenge. Running around with unlimited ammo can be fun in an arcade-y sense, but after awhile, it loses it’s luster. Halo is an arena shooter at it’s core, its all about managing ammo and weapons, finding new ones, and the choices you make along the way.
“I’ve got two mags left in my magnum, but this is a flood level and this shotgun is fully loaded, I should probably hold onto the rockets though for big groups. I think I’ll go with the shotgun here” this is why ammo is limited. If you could use the same guns throughout the entire game because you had loads of ammo, people won’t swap out their guns as often, which is a shame because Halo’s weapon sandbox is amazing, although recent entries have been bloated with redundant weapons, Infinite looks like a return to form on sandbox simplicity

Well I just take the realism where i can get it. It’s why Halo Reach had my favorite armor customization and designs. Just because there are unrealistic parts in halo doesn’t mean that realism should be ditched entirely.

People assume realism means everything about it needs to be realistic. When talking about fictional settings though, realism just applies to the rules set up in that universe. So I think running out of ammo should be considered realistic.

I swap out my weapons plenty even when I have tons of ammo in a game it all depends on which enemies I’m fighting and what’s the most effective against that enemy

Yes, which in a scenario where you have plenty of ammo, it’s more about what you chose to use over what you have to use. That’s the challenge part in it. In some cases in CE, you’re going to end up using two covenant weapons which cannot replenish ammo and require swapping out. This was an intentional decision and aside from covenant weapons in later entries, many covenant weapons have batteries. Their use is finite. These kind of factors shape the experiences players have.
You can only use a rocket launcher for so long until it runs out of ammo, so it matters when and how you use the rocket. That is one of the core parts of the campaign experience in Halo. Think about this; Why are energy swords in Halo 2 unlimited ammo in multiplayer but not in campaign?
Honestly I liked CE’s ammo ammounts. Enough that you didn’t feel forced to change weapons all the time (Hello halo 2), but enough that you do want to be careful of your ammo usage. You experiment with weapons because you want to find an edge, not because you need to pick something up as you’re out of ammo.

I was very sad to hear about the no duel wielding as well… Let’s we get upgraded smgs and stuff that do more… Anyone else hate the ar or is that just me
Upgrading weapons has never been in halo and the ability to do so doesnt fit the idea of a quality weapon sandbox. Thats why they are going the route of weapon variants instead (a much better decision that fits the halo identity more imo)
Here’s an idea, maybe include a certain variant (lets say of the SMG) that is always dual wield. This could make balancing easier I imagine and give those who want to duel wield an option.

I did not need to manage my ammo in Halo CE and the game was still fun
