I never liked the Hydra in Halo 5 it seemed weaker then the one I saw in a Gameplay trailer before the game released. I thought maybe it would be like a counterpart to the fuel Rod Gun a weapon that could hold 5 missiles or Rockets but it’s not it seemed useless in campaign especially in higher difficulty and now they’ve managed to make the weapon worse according to this video I found on YouTube
I never liked in on H5 either but I couldn’t work out if it was because I was bad and was using it wrong. Honestly, I’m still not sure what the best way to use it is.
They need to bring back The Pickle Flinger (Fuel Rod) it’s one of my favourite weapons (Except the weak damage version in Halo 3)
Honestly kind of liked the hydra in infinite it feels like a rocket assault rifle it was pretty cool.
The H5 hydra was a beast man two rockets could kill a person and one would destroy a persons shields if you hip fired it then combined it with a beat down.
Infinite’s Hydra is quite literally a compact version of Missile Pod from H3.

Yes maybe it could kill a Spartan with two shots but in the gameplay reveal of Halo 5 before the game actually came out or at least the one I saw Buck used the hydra and took down a phaeton with six or eight shots I believe it can’t do that in Halo 5 now so in my opinion it sucks

its used sort of like the Needler honestly, the weapon was a niche weapon for competitive but honestly that’s fantastic. I love it when every map doesn’t have the same 1 or two weapons.
Edit: Halo Infinite changes to Hyrda are odd, as it was already a competitively viable weapon on some maps. Curious if it’ll be worse or better on final release.

It seems a little early to say whether the gun is strong enough yet when A, what we saw wasnt supposed to be shown to the public so the balance may not be final, and B, we haven’t even seen it operate properly in the sandbox. Maybe wait until the game releases to make these judgements.
I like the -Yoink!- launcher in Halo 5. Not that effective but looks cool.
i like the hydra in h5 as it was great at killing players but it was pretty bad at destroying vehicles and i prefer using precision weapon in place of it regardless so when that’s the case i ignore it. Might be better in infinite tho since it has two modes one of which doesn’t lock on and one that is faster. I LIKE THE DIFFERENT FIRES THEY ARE ADDING TO WEAPONS!
It was never a weapon I fell in love with, but Infinite’s version looks a bit more fun than 5s to me with the two modes. Kinda a mix between the hydra and a 2 shot railgun. I’m ok with it. M
Maybe you use Hydra in a wrong way in Halo 5, I am not sure your method. You lock the enemy, then point your reticle to sky (upper right or upper left) and shoot 3-4 projectiles immediately, not aiming the enemy, kill confirm for me 80% chances if he doesn’t notice my lock or isn’t behind the rocks. 2 shots can kill one if don’t miss.
In Halo Infinite, Hydra is 3 shots kill (1.42s) in direct-fire mode, projectile speed is faster and more accurate than that in H5, and 4 shots kill in homing mode (2.28s).

I tend to use hydra in h5 and I like it, I have come across players who are brilliant at it. Sometimes I do feel I am not using the hydra to it’s full potential. I didn’t play with hydra in halo infinite 4x4 pvp or 12v12 btb, but I am looking forward to it. I like how some weapons have dual modes (shooting mode) this will make things very interesting in the final version.
