Well...... the BR ain't comin' back

At least the BR we know and love. Frankie pretty much stated it wasn’t going to be changed in the QnA they released yesterday. The BR in Halo 4 is the slowest killing precision weapon weapon out of the three.

1st= Carbine (1.39seconds)
2nd= DMR (1.4seconds)
3rd= BR (1.8seconds)

The inefficiency of the BR is seen in the MLG videos. I mean, the Carbine is DANGEROUS AS HELL in the videos. The guy using it was Dropping dudes left and right. I just wish that the BR was that strong because it gets dominated by the Carbine at all ranges.

it could be that one person was better than the other?

How did you get they won’t change it when he specifically stated “Some tweaks, tunes and changes will happen between now and launch.”

Why is it that every time there’s an attempt to balance the sandbox, weapons get nerfed even more.

It IS possible to balance a sandbox by buffing underpowered weapons. Why does this never happen for Halo?

Those same MLG players said they preferred the BR. They said the DMR was better at long ranges and the Carbine was better only at short ranges. In the video he is only killing at short ranges. And he was just on fire - the life before the carbine he was doing the same thing with the BR.

I don’t know why everyone is hating on the BR when all the MLG pros said that it was their favorite weapon and definitely the most versatile.

We don’t need another BR thread! This needs locked.

It’s still being worked on. Quit making assumptions and wait until the game is done.

They also openly stated that their enjoyment was driven by nostalgia.

The MLG players we’re just running on nostalgia and we know how much that can cloud judgement. Regardless to say, most of them we’re using the BR and probably didn’t even give the carbine a chance so naturally they are satisfied with the BR. The fact remains that the MR and Carbine are better weapons

The DMR and Carbine both have Bloom, the BR doesn’t.

Then how will people be able to see how bad I am. That is no good.

They also spoke of the other reasons stated.

I think it should be

BR and carbine almost the same Kill times

and the DMR needs to be slower as its a longer ranger gun .

so

  1. BR @ Carbine
  2. waffles
  3. DMR

> The DMR and Carbine both have Bloom, the BR doesn’t.

Which is funny considering how many times it has been shown by so many different people that bloom/spread in a game with long kill times actually lowers the skill gap. On top of that, reticle bloom didn’t exist in Halo until Reach. Spread didn’t exist in precision weapons until Halo 3 (and there was an unending plea to have it removed/reduced).

But it’s obviously very “Halo” to go that route again, and randomness allows for a perfectly balanced sandbox, right?

Its nice to see a bit of diversity between the precision weapons, it might be easier to land 5 shots with the BR than with the DMR, only time will tell.

I will -Yoink- somebody up with a waffle.

The carbine and DMR have chances of being changed as well. Also the BR will be easier to use at a closer range.

I also witnessed someone with a DMR beat a BR in close range. Regardless, the range of the weapons isn’t really the focus. You said they all liked the BR, and they openly admitted that it was nostalgia.

Just in case you’re still missing it:

They didn’t like the BR because of it’s niche, they liked it because of how nice it felt to shoot the BR again.

Oh yeah the DMR is a better weapon b/c at medium to close range it is extremely hard to control.

They were (and I guess we’re?) playing for nastalgia but that’s ignoring everything else I said which was explaining these pro’s analysis of the weapons. They said the Carbine was only viable at a shorter range than the BR and the DMR at a longer range. Their consensus was that the BR was the most versatile.

The BR can’t be the fastest kill b/c it is the most versatile. If it killed the fastest than it would trump the Carbine in short combat and the DMR in long combat making it the best weapon for short, mid and long ranged combat. Meaning, that the BR would trump the Carbine and DMR in their niches.

343 doesn’t want a god weapon and they are going about it the right way. In their way the Carbine is best for short to mid, the DMR is best Mid to long and the BR is best at Mid with the versatility to be competent in short-mid and mid-long as well. Meaning that the BR is the most versatile.

Maybe the BR is the starter gun now in halo. Babies first precision rifle. And the DMR will be where people end up when they get better?

Delectable irony. Exquisite.
