…I didn’t even know that was Halo until I saw Cortana’s chip. That was one of the best reveal/teaser trailers I have ever seen. Can’t wait until 2014!
2 bad things
-MC with a cloak I mean seriously WTF
-2014 release: halo 4 had a 3 year dev and it was a rushed game, this is probably gonna be worst.
Nice MS, you’ve killed yourself by casualising the best franchise ever.
I agree OP, that was an incredible teaser.

Can we please put the negativity to a rest? Is it really worth it?

So everybody can talk about how amazing and awesome it was, but god forbid if anybody DARES say anything negative? Sorry, you;ll have to deal with all of the reactions, the good and the bad.

No. Negative opinions are just as important as positive opinions. Personally, I was completely underwhelmed by the trailer.
That was one of the worst trailers I’ve seen. 2014 is much to soon for a new Halo.
I liked the music, that bit at the end was very Halo 3

Don’t bother he’s just a negative being that infects positive posts with negativity like his life depended on it.
From the way everyone talks about it, the only reason people are under-whelmed by the trailer was because of the date it was shown and when it’s supposed to be released.
Personally, I feel that this game looks VERY interesting. Very different feel, but still a very FRESH feel from the previous Halo games. Hoping for something similar to Metroid: Prime.

you do know that they all are not working on the same project ?
I just gotta ask; has anyone talked to 343 and asked whether this 2014 release is for Halo 5 or not. Because that would calm a lot of people down. They had to have been interviewed after that reveal, right?

“The award-winning franchise continues on Xbox One, beginning in 2014. Final title to be announced at a later date.”

I feel as though the cloak was simply for dramatic effect - concealing the protagonist until the very end, as well as creating a more dramatic mood. I thought it did a very good job. I thought this could be a trailer for Diablo III coming to the gaming consoles in September - the cloak and desert tricked me into recalling the Dark Wanderer. At the same time, the whole thing had a very science fiction vibe to it, and the cloak made me think of wandering Jedi.
So I thought it all had a very effective first reveal vibe, and I’m intrigued and want to see a lot more. We all know Halo 4 wasn’t what everyone wanted it to be, and we should be alerted: This won’t be, either. But it will be a lot of fun if you let it, and judging by how dark and gritty this teaser felt, it’ll be a lot darker.
Addendum: Halo 4 arguably had a four-year development cycle, actually. The reason it felt rushed was because it was not up to par with the volume of content we were used to from the finely-tuned systems of Halo 3 and Halo: Reach. This isn’t because the game was rushed, but because designing an infrastructure for so many diverse systems as there were in those two installments is a really hard thing to pull off.
I’m really looking forward to this title.

A release date doesn’t make a trailer good or bad…
Do remember that a lot of dev time between halos when bungie did it went towards the engine. And it felt rushed because 343 didn’t bloat until very late on in the process, and simply grew too quickly.
They clearly have the engine nailed now, and we will obviously be looking to an end of 2014 release. Meaning 1.5 years of gameplay dev time. And a lot of stuff ported over from halo 4 that was cut content in the final game.
Trust me. 343 know they screwed up. They are good people. They won’t ruin this one, now that they can clearly see what happens when you mess with somebodies baby.
And frankly, I don’t think MS wants people to remain on Halo 4 for very long…

Halo 4 was being made before reach was released and they may of put some of the resources towards halo 5 and the new xbox to take advantage of the new tech than overly commit to halo 4 and not have anything for 5
I agree. Watching some guy walk through the desert for a minute was one of the most exciting reveals I have ever seen in my entire life.

I’m hoping for more of a halo feel myself.
I don’t think a 2 year gap between the games is really a bad thing, especially when they have a whole studio that must focus exclusively in the Halo franchise, and the number of employees they have.
I really enjoyed Halo 4. It had it’s problems, yes, but in the end it was a fun game.
Overall, I’m impressed with the trailer, but I’m not happy with the Xbox One, main reason I doubt I’ll be getting this game on it’s release, much to my dismay.

–His armor is heavily damaged so he may need it to protect the internal systems from the blowing sand. Also, dramatic effect.
–It’s been in dev since before Halo 4 was released making an at least 2 and a half year cycle; Halo 4 felt rushed only because there was too much for the 360 to handle, and the 343i team wasn’t completed until very late into its dev cycle.
And yes, negative comments are valuable so long as they’re constructive but right now nothing can be said. If you enjoyed the trailer or not, fine, but saying it was terrible and stupid, or the best ever or amazing are equally as pointless. Yet I’m inclined to agree more with the positive comments because at least being positive is more enjoyable than being a whiny, jaded hater who defaults to negativity. God forbid people just kick back and -Yoinking!- enjoy something for once.
