hello, well I’m new to halo 4 (I have played 2 but I think it has changed since) so if you can any tips or anything I should know so I don’t mess up on achievements?
I think you’re going to need to be more specific than that.
Unless 343i has fixed the issue since I last heard of it, some DLC-related achievements do not unlock when you meet their requirements. It’s not a consistent bug – it varies from person to person, and possibly from console to console.
If you’re interested in the progression rank, then there’s something to watch out for. The max rank is SR-130, but you’ll stop earning experience points at SR-50. When that happens, you need to pause (while in a lobby) and select a Specialization. You’ll need to do that every 10 ranks, from SR-50 to SR-130.
ok thank you very much, now on the difference on the game play are the controls different (other than the white and black)

Are the controllers different?

“Are the controllers different?” ?
like is the grenade like a different button or anything like that

The controls have changed, yes. Sprint is its own feature, and can exist alongside an Armor Ability, so it now has a button reserved for it. I don’t recall how this changes the default control scheme, but I think the menu that lets you change your control scheme also lists what each button does.
(I do know that with Bumper Jumper controls, Sprint is on A; switching grenade types was moved to D-Pad Down.)
All around best load out for multi-player is BR with a magnum. And then whatever perks you want to through with it. The BR will be about the best thing for all around encounters. There are better load outs for long range targets and what not. But all around the BR is the way to go.
You haven’t played since halo 2? dang, you’ve missed alot, ill give you some tips.
For starters, the magnum is nothing like the halo 2 pistol, its actually a good weapon with a scope.
The Assualt rifle was cut from halo 2, so you might not have seen it before, its best used in short controlled bursts at mid range, and is a very effective weapon if used right.
Crouching reduce’s weapon spread so you fire more accuratley.
You can’t duel wield weapons anymore, they took it out since people stoped throwing grenades and meleeing.
There’s a sprint button now, which will depend on your control scheme.
And if you want the closest thing to the classic control’s, press start, go to controller then select the Recon button layout.
Hope this helps you out a bit.

Neither. Assassinations are a feature which was added in Reach- if you get behind an enemy and melee them in the back, you can choose to hold down the melee button instead of tapping, triggering an Assassination instead of the usually beatdown. You’ll go into a third-person view, and get to watch your character take down the enemy in a BA animation.

I found using “Recon” layout in Halo 4 is the closest to “classic” in older Halo games for controller config. Hope that helps.
Think of potatoes, when ever you are in a tight spot just stop and think of potatoes…
well thank you all for your help (my friend did not know that ether and now were trying to figure out how to do it)
well I did post and I guess it did not go through.
was not able to play on halo 4 because of the game update is so slow to update due to AT&T regular DSL
(I’m mad) but still thanks
oh your set up is having the cancel on the right instead of on the left… no wonder…
what are the controlls for the ghost and other flying things (and tank thing)
I honestly don’t mean this in a rude or non-productive way… but for things like ‘what button does what’ you really can just play around for 30 seconds and figure it out.
As the above response said, please feel free to play with the different control layouts and find what feels right for you.
Now, if you have questions such as strategies for using a certain weapon, the forums are a great place to start (:
Welcome back, btw!
One thing I’ve noticed is that Forerunner weapons work best in extreme cases (Boltshot pistol within melee range, Suppressor for ambushes, and Lightrifle for long range fights) whereas the Human weapons are all pretty flexible and good enough for the average shootout. Covenant’s a mixed bag as always, except now the Plasma Pistol stuns vehicles and the new Plasma Rifle (“Storm Rifle”) is actually pretty deadly.
On the new Forerunner grenade too (the orange shockwave field), a lot of people find it useless but if you know how to use it it’s really useful. With the other grenades you usually toss them to add some extra damage, but with this one if you take their shields about halfway down and then throw it at their feet: instant kill without worrying about an explosion killing both of you. Saved my life tons of times in free for all and small maps.
ok thank you all, I will try to play halo 4 when I get on next time and try to finish the game update which should not take that long. (screw you AT&T regular DSL)
