Well my friends, I'm done with this game's aiming

Go out, have fun and don’t let the people who supposedly hate the game (yet keep on playing) ruin it for you.

I personally enjoy the new aim mechanics. In every other Halo game, it always bothered me that you couldn’t aim with most of the weapons. For instance, the assault rifle: the workhorse of the UNSC Marine Corps and arguably the Master Chief’s most used weapon. You can’t aim the bloody thing in any other Halo game! That always bothered me, because, continuity-wise, why would you make a gun the standard-issue weapon of an entire military if you can’t use Aim Down the Sights (ADS) to pull off accurate shots? I don’t know about other players, but in every other Halo game, I ALWAYS ditched the assault rifle as soon as I came across a similar weapon that had ADS function (Battle Rifle, Light Rifle, even the Covenant Carbine). But now in Halo 5, the assault rifle doesn’t feel like a pea-shooter anymore, it feels like a weapon now, a weapon that can compete with the likes of the Battle Rifle, and I love it. It makes sense why you would make it the standard-issue weapon for an interstellar military force now. And I find the fact that you can use the ADS on any weapon in the game more than makes up for any additional aiming difficulties or shortcomings. I think the aiming system is vastly superior in Halo 5 to any other Halo game to date. That’s my two cents…

Where is the skill to stop my diagonal aiming from randomly slowing to a crawl outside of my control? I want to learn that.

I love this guy he is exactly right keep on putting down the haters Lukey.

Please read the thread; we’re not talking about aiming down sights.

cough cough 343i don’t give a damn. You’re one player out of a million what do you think they’ll do bow down and worship you until you come back to halo? Yeah. Go take a long walk off of the end of a halo ring

Harder? It’s been getting easier for me, if anything at all.

> Because I’m not the only person that thinks the aiming is atrocious. And I pick Tuesday because it’s the usual release/patch/update day. If they don’t fix it then I’m not playing a broken game any further. That’s all I’m saying.

The aiming isn’t atrocious. The only reason you and a ton of others are complaining is because it is a new system and you guys just can’t use it as well as the other one before it yet. Well sorry but that’s just the way it is and you might just have to deal with it. I bet you will get good at using it and then when they finally hear enough whining they will change it to something else and then everyone will just complain about that. You can’t just abandon a game in the first week because of “the aiming system isn’t aiming the way I want it to.” That’s like saying, well I love the Ravens because they were winning the past couple seasons but now that they are losing this season, I’m not gonna watch them. You can’t ride the bandwagon and expect everything you want also.

I’m not good enough to talk about the nuances of aiming and the game designing behind it, but I respect what these guys are saying. Its not that 343 intentionally made it harder on purpose, its that somethings wrong with it, and whether its easy or hard everyone just wants it to work correctly and as intended.

Ooooh!

But yeah, aim acceleration throws me off in any game it comes up in and is probably a large contributor to so many people needing to jack up their aim sensitivity so high. I’m usually at 6 or 7 but H5 is really hard to play for me at anything below 9 or 10…

Long time halo vet. Played all games religiously (pun intended), on their original consoles and subsequent iterations on other consoles. I just finished all four again, on legendary, and have now done H5 on heroic and been smashing the multiplayer. I’m Platinum1 in team arena so I’d say I’m used to the game by now. It IS vastly different to all other halos in terms of, both the ridiculously vast dead zone, and, how fast you turn (this is not the case while sprinting, where for some weird reason the left and right responsiveness seem to be back to pure halo, but when you stop sprinting it’s back to feeling sluggish with a huge dead zone, the likes of which I haven’t encountered in a fps in really long time). I’m deliriously happy with everything else however it is definitely my preference and dare I say anyone else’s who’s grown up playing halo, to have a return of the old sensitivity. My sensitivity in each game is; 10 for H:CE , 9 for H2, 8 for H3, and 7 for H4; I even used 9 for the H5 beta and it felt more responsive than this, which feels sluggish even at 10. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m loving the game, in particular the nimble straifing which is more responsive than the actual aiming, and have adjusted my style to accommodate the Grand Canyon of dead zones; but they should bring it more in line with other halos in this regard. If I were a betting man I’d say the toning down of autoaim has something to do with the new dead zone and acceleration. I know it’s not a quick fix, but PLEASE 343i PATCH THE AIMING SO IT’S LIKE THE OTHER 6 HALO FPS’S.

bye bye!!! lol

see ya

Why did they change the aiming, it was good before and now its just weird…

>

> No one is complaining about the lack of aim assist. Most people do not understand what is going on with the aiming mechanics. Its not a lack of assist problem
>
> - There is an across the board sensitivity drop when you reticle approaches a target which diminishes all user input. This leads to excessive levels of under aim, because the reticle becomes sluggish, heavy, and unresponsive to player input.
> - There is a massive acceleration jump that occurs at about 80% joystick deflection. The reticle will suddenly lurch to the maximum turn speed, bypassing all intermediary speeds. This makes controlling the reticle inconsistent and unpredictable.
> - There is also an acceleration time-delay if you peg the joystick at 100%. Instead of getting instant input output feedback, there is a time delay and then the reticle lurches forward. Combined with the other acceleration lurch, they work together to make controlling the reticle extremely inconsistent and unpredictable.
> - The maximum 10 sensitivity is significantly slower then any Halo ever made. It is extremely sluggish for players that are accustomed to high sensitivity.
>
> Most of us complaining about the aiming mechanics would probably also be on board with reducing the bullet magnetism. We want a better aiming system. We want player input to be an intuitive process that generates consistent results. We want high skill gap. We want aiming to be better then it is. Aiming is currently “hard”, but its hard for the wrong reasons, its difficult because the aiming mechanics actually work against player input in producing meaningful aiming results.

Thank you very much. We need more intelligent people like you.

343 needs to fix this.

i really am not satisfied with the aiming either. i can still do work with the br and dmr but i cant seem to snap anything with the magnum. even after 20+hrs gameplay (mostly in swat which seems to be magnums 50% of the time) i cant seem to get the hang of it. it wont stop me from playing, but it would be nice to see a change

I lol’d.

Always fun to read this sort of clueless posts, mixing lore and gameplay. You have no idea what it’s being discussed in this thread.
