Well my friends, I'm done with this game's aiming

Okay first off this is a good thing they did…yes there is a clear change but think of it as reality. Do you aim constantly while turning slow? NO! NO NO NO NO! You turn and “snap” to the target, its called tactical awareness and ability to change directions (agility - look it up) at a rapid pace. So how do you use this to your advantage? Simple…PRACTICE!!! Just practice and naturally you’ll be able to know when that point comes and just don’t push so - YOINKING - hard on the stick! Stop complaining and just adapt. The majority of us have probably played paintball/airsoft and you snap to targeting the other people rapidly or you get lit up. It’s simple…if you can’t realize that as humans and creates can do this rapid change in movements then go get out into the world and see for yourself. Watch sports, do they just go slow when they’re turning or changing directions while running in football, soccer, basketball, or skating with the hockey puck? NO!

Edit: PLEASE SHARE THIS SO PEOPLE STOP AND THINK ABOUT IT! this “conversation” (more like complaining) has gone on long enough thanks to one person being too bitter to adjust

CE vets have been adapting since 2004. No one’s helping them.

That’s the way it’s always worked. It’s a downright necessary thing.

What was “wrong” with the aiming? Maybe I am just blissfully unaware.

The aiming is not that bad.

I personally love the new mechanics.

> I keep hoping this is just a bad dream and that I’ll wake up from it, but it’s real. The aiming is garbage. I still have not gotten used to it. It’s just awful. I know I don’t need to go into detail about how bad these aiming mechanics are, because so many other people have expressed what’s wrong, but it’s nothing like any Halo before it. Why change what was NEVER wrong with Halo? Every game in MCC feels amazing, as far as aiming is concerned. Going back and forth between different Halo games on there is effortless and I’m always confident that my shot will be on. This game is just wonky as hell. I can’t even begin to express my disappointment with the aiming mechanics. I really hope they listen to us and make this game feel like EVERY game before it. And not just a little deadzone tweaking or accel tweaking…it needs a 100% revert back to how we all know Halo is supposed to feel. It’s just not a fun game. I gave it a legitimate chance after 23 hours of play, but it’s still bad. There’s just no getting used to the aiming in this game. So much potential…damn…

I’m a die hard fan of Halo. I may not know a lot about the lore but I love the games and movies. But I can’t believe I’m saying this but I may switch to BO3 until there is a fix with the aiming. At least with BO3 I know my shots and feel rewarded after getting them.

Nothing wrong with making it more difficult.
Just shows the weak players from the strong.

The game is broken that’s for sure, hit detection and reticle movement is off. It’s like when you zoom in you have less accuracy !!! Which I find hilarious. The beta was right on and now this bs. This would never happen with bungie period. I feel for 343i because they have dropped the ball so many times the game is about over for me. You think they would’ve already patched this -Yoink- or tried. I have watched all kinds of films on matches and there just is no consistency period in shooting. It’s like your playing an mmo and have no control over damage dealt by shots. I have three different controllers and they all have dead spots. I’m happy some people are not having problems but -Yoink- there needs to be a level playing field with all controllers. Thanks for listening to the pros which make up less than 2% of your gaming population!!! 343i Fix your game or I’m out.

Best aiming, and most stable weapon sandbox, in the franchise to date. It’s definitely different from previous iterations, and requires some adjustment, but it’s improvement. It’s not going to hold your hand. The toned down aim assist is enough to function on a console and separate the players that can aim from the players that can’t.

Me 2

I agree with the aiming thing and all but I also think a lot of other stuff needs to go back to the “original” ways. Spawning is a big issue, Magnum (supposed to be a sidearm) is to OP, map rotations and no BR starts is very annoying and overall I REALLY loved the beta but this…not so much. I’ve loved halo for a really long time and don’t want to give up but some major changes need to be made.

Maybe your right, I just need to adjust to the new aiming mechanics but why wasnt this introduced into the beta? The beta was a perfect game that i lover a played as much as i could throughout that 1 week. Halo 5 is still a good game but by changing a couple of things, which are probably easy to fix, they could make it one of the greatest games ever. I said it then and I’m still saying it now, if 343 sold permanent access to the beta for £45, I’d happily buy it.

LOL? Sorry man spray and pray never works and never has worked in any Halo…This isn’t cod where you can die from 2-3 bullets.

Please please please just read my post about this “issue” being a reality on page 68 in the thread…

EDIT: I apologize for my comment, lost it for a minute with people not listening to what I had to say and just calling me an idiot when I’m simply trying to alter how people may think about this

I’m in total agreement with you on this

God you are all so new around here.

The turning speed is the exact problem. There is no transition between slowly moving and quickly spinning. In the past, one could twist around whilst shooting an enemy. Turning and Aiming have never been two separate entities before, and don’t need to be. There is no need to separate what was already a single mechanic, unless we’re using a variant of the #immersion or #realism argument.

So endorse this mechanic instead of trying to excuse it. What, within the context of the game, makes this shift in philosophy something to be praised? As of now, all I see is a dramatic removal of what was a dynamic setup - the ability to turn while you aimed - for the ability to “snap,” which I’m pretty sure I was able to do before hand without this undue acceleration.

And what do you expect (especially when using that many capitals and exclamation marks) from a conversation on Waypoint? It’s not just me - and this conversation isn’t anywhere near as long as some of the ones I’ve seen. This thread is honestly nothing compared to how bad things have gotten in the past.

Not to sound like a “back in my day” kinda gamer but I guess it can’t be helped. I am glad to see that others are disappointed in the aiming as much as I am. People on here are calling us stubborn for enjoying what was once good gaming. To us OG Halo players its almost like 343 is taking away our awesome crispy bacon strips and replacing our bacon with plastic tasting microwaved turkey bacon.

I’m on both sides here. I’ve been playing halo since CE, and halo 5 since the game released, and I actually went to the forums to see if anyone else has noticed the aiming to be lacking in its usual precision. NOT AIM ASSIST(I love that there is less aim assist), but my controller making sudden jumps in speed with large movements, and little to no response from my controller when making tiny adjustments in long range combat. Come to find out, everyone’s talking about it, haha. There are some serious dead zone issues in the game that really need to be recalibrated so players can get better response out of the controller.

That being said, after realizing there is a calibration issue, I’ve actually played better, not worse! For those who are not letting this nuisance ruin there fun and will continue to play until a patch(if we get one), the best advice I can offer is to BE EASY ON THE STICKS. Snap to your target with restraint or you are going to overshoot. I’ve made a conscious effort in the last couple days to emphasize this, and am finally improving. I think the game is still playable and a ton of fun. I do hope they make a patch though.

Me encanto, ustedes no sufren de salidas infrecuentes en el juego?

You’re an idiot. You don’t adapt to aim acceleration limit when it triggers when you depress a joystick 51%. You adapt to it when it is fully depressed for a time limit. That’s how its always worked in every Halo game. Go -Yoink- off somewhere and stop trying to defend 343 for this terrible change.
