Well my friends, I'm done with this game's aiming

Not sure why so many people have an issue with it. It’s all about stick control. I couldn’t aim for crap when this game was released. However, after a few days of playing, I’ve learned to control the right stick a lot better. Also play at 4 sensitivity. If you play with high sensitivity in other games, maybe turn it down a bit for this game. I’m actually glad this game has limited aim assist which requires people to actually aim instead of the game aiming for them.

The aiming is fine

I actually like the way its done,to me it feels better and I do better as well I see no problem with it at all.

EDIT: Hit detection is also fine.

We aren’t talking about aiming in. Where talking bout hit detection. Including shots from the hip. Aiming in general.

People can defend it all they want, but console fps games need to have equal aiming speeds on both axes and no deadzones. This isn’t a PC game, but it handles as if you’ve plugged a controller into your PC to play a game designed for keyboard & mouse. I don’t care what pros think is best, it’s not a PC game - the deadzones and sporadic axes speeds aren’t good for casuals or pros - they’re counterintuitive. The beta had far better aiming than this.

> Yeah, it’s overall wonky as hell. I want to play this game more than any other game right now, but I’m staying on MCC unless 343 allows us the option to choose classic Halo aiming mechanics. The aiming in this game feels like a bad console port of a pc game. The aiming mechanics remind me of The Orange Box or Far Cry Predator on 360. It’s that bad. Seriously, go try those games. The aiming feels just as bad as those. Anyways, I hope they fix it because I would love to come back.

I remember the same issue with Far Cry 2 on 360, the multiplayer had some fun aspects but the controls were just so hard to get to grips with. I’d give some credence to it just being preference if this was a common issue for console shooters, but this is only the second time I’ve ever encountered it and I’ve been playing FPS since Halo 3 came out. Literally every other console shooter feels natural right off the bat, even switching between different games you only have a short ‘warm up’ time before feeling fluid.

It frustrates me intensely because I love so much about Halo 5 and think 343 have really found their identity with all the changes they’ve made. I thought some looked gimmicky at first but they all come together fluidly, are well balanced and I think they’ve managed to innovate/improve whilst keeping the things that make Halo Halo. However, you can get 100 things right and the experience is still dampened by an issue this serious - your ability to aim is fundamental to everything you do.

its a very tough game to get used to, the aiming is hard as hell… but still love the game!

That is the exact behavior I experience when I pick up my controller and do the same thing. Can you link this disproven video? I have made no adjustments to my controller xbox settings and I receive this exact behavior. The reticle lurches at about 80% deflection with no progressive or predictable increase.

I havent been having an issue with the aiming at all. Just gotta play my first couple warm up matches and then I am back in the groove.

To be honest anyone half decent at fps’s should be able to adapt to the aiming. Also, everyone else is coping just fine so you sir need to get over it!

I agree. I can’t see the point of having these two in the game. Especially if they are targeting esports and competitive gaming.

i agree. the aim is too slow to reach target then once you make it to the target, it zips by so fast your off target, miss, and die

I do feel that the aiming is harder, but only slightly. It’s more satisfying to pull off headshots and perfect kills that way. I doubt that you are “done” with the game anyway. If you were to state your problems in a constructive way I’m sure it will spark discussion and 343i would consider tweaks to make people happier if it was a majority of players affected.

Anyways, I honestly don’t mind it. It feels responsive enough to me.

I am definitely getting much more accustomed to it.

> It’s not about the lack of aim assist. We’re all grateful for that. It has to do more with the amount of aim acceleration. If you played the beta, I’m sure you can agree the aiming felt much more fluid. Now though, I feel like I’m fighting with my controller in order to aim properly.

That might be it. Aim assist. I felt like I was not being robbed as much by my gun doing things on its own (hate how in other MP games my gun would randomly start to pull towards enemies that appear while I was trying to shoot). It was like I had to aim. So maybe that is it. At least for myself this game feels great in the aiming department. I have to say I thought it was a little better in the beta but overall not game breaking and I have had a great time so far for the most part.

Aiming is brutal. Games done

I haven’t found a problem with the aiming system honestly. Don’t see what the big deal is here.

I don’t know why everyone dislikes it? I find it perfect and easy to use.

I’ll welcome any of these aiming changes with open arms, but I’m not holding out for them. If it happens, that’d be nice. If it doesn’t, I’ll get better with it as is. As for all the “If 343 doesn’t do _____ by _____ then I won’t play the game that I already paid for” people… cool, you know where the door is.
