Man, I am super hyped after that gameplay reveal. I keep watching it over and over and I absolutely love it. Art style looks like a blend between Halo CE-3 and Halo Wars 2, which is really cool. I love the open world part - hopefully its the entire ring. I’m also loving the traversal. Sprint is back, vehicles are super important for the massive environments on the ring, and the grapple hook looks fantastic. I’m hoping that there are some side objectives on the map like saving pockets of marines that can then join you in a temporary squad sort of like Reach, that way you have some AI gunners for some of the vehicles if you don’t play co op. The weapons look fantastic, and the combat looks stellar. I’m blown away.
I wonder how co op will work, I wish they should a little of that. We know its going to be splitscreen, but will it just be two? Or four? I think it would be really cool if the UNSC Infinity was off somewhere or maybe a base or something where the rest of Blue Team is chilling, and when a new player comes in they join you. The only other option I’m seeing is multiple Chiefs again, which while fine, would be kinda disappointing considering how Halo 3 and 5 handles co op.
Another thing I’ve seen popping up is that Infinite is being built to handle a bunch of Halo experiences. I’m really hoping we finally get campaign DLC, maybe stuff on the level of Halo 3: ODST, but built into the game so you can select the experience straight from the main menu. That would be a really cool way of incorporating gameplay as other characters like Fireteam Osiris without taking away main campaign time with Chief. Maybe we could even get an ODST 2 with this method, that would be pretty sick.
As for multiplayer, they said that they will release more details later, but they did confirm Halo 3 style equipment, with the grapple hook on that list, which is really cool. I’m gonna bet its gonna be super similar to Halo 3 multiplayer with sprinting and sliding available, which I am super excited for. I really hope we get a return of Warzone, and with the banished, maybe a new version of Invasion with Spartans vs Brutes. For Warzone, instead of Req packs, I want there to be a level up system where you access to new reqs by leveling up, which grants you predetermined req cards. You then build a deck of like, 30 cards from the entire collection and use that in Warzone. The deck doesn’t diminish, it only denotes what you can use during a match.
And now for something a bit more controversial - Battle Royale. I enjoy BR games. However, I don’t believe Halo NEEDS one. I just think it might be cool, especially after I saw these fan made concepts - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/1nXoEK
I don’t know if I’d want one exactly like it details, or even one where you played as Spartans. However, if they do make an ODST 2 or expansion with ODSTs, I think it would be super cool to introduce a BR where you drop into the map as ODSTs via a drop pod. Not only would that be an amazing way to enter the battlefield, but I think it would be really fun in general. That way you separate the BR from the rest of the multiplayer and create a unique experience. You would have Vehicles scattered over the map, with the more powerful ones like Scorpians locked away for you to figure out how to get. It would be a lot different from other BRs because you wouldn’t scavenge as much outside of weapons. I wouldn’t want inventory or armor management, only the standard Halo Infinite gameplay tuned for ODSTs. Anyway, as I mentioned, NR is not necessary, but it would be kinda neat.
Anyway, that sums up everything going through my mind right now. That gameplay demo really sparked the fires in my imagination and I am so excited to experience the next chapter of Halo. Heck, I’m gonna go rewatch the demo a couple of times right now again. Hope you guys are as excited as I am. See you on the ring.
