well halo wars 2 got something wrong

the Marines in halo wars 2 are supposed to be the Marines from halo wars 1 not the ugly -Yoink- kids in Nerf gear from halo 4 and 5!
with halo wars 2 bringing back the classic art style we all know and love they still have kids in Nerf gear very disappointed :frowning:

Well, 343 have opted for a generic sci-fi style, and that’s what we’re getting :slightly_frowning_face:

Yeah I was hoping they would go with the classic style for the marines and not the halo 4 and 5 style, they looked so good in the first trailer

I’m of the opinion that Halo’s marines have never been all that unique looking.

CE actually had the worst looking Marines, IMO. Not simply due to graphics, but their overall look. Helmets, armor, coloring. Bleck!

I’d take that brown and beige coloring over that awful White,Green and pink color scheme the Halo 4 marines have. And at least the CE marines are wearing actual armor instead of padding.

On topic, that’s really disappointing. I thought we going to get those awesome looking marines from Halo 2 Anniversary and the trailers. I could have sworn they looked like them in the beta. Why the change?

Armor can still be worn in plate carriers, much like the marine from your link. Armor doesn’t need to be exposed metal for it to be armor.

But I will concede, he looks like a -Yoink- clown with that coloring.

I know it doesn’t need to be exposed metal in order to be considered armor, but IMO something like this and this looks 100x cooler than those plate carriers.

There are still Marine armors in H5 that have metal plating on it. Its just their are many variants for different purposes.

The in game graphics were always like that. We also saw concept of the new armor so this isn’t a surprise.

The problem with all of those armours is they look nothing like the original art style. They’re so generic. 343 have completely ignored the unique art style that bungie set in place for them

No they look like the Halo 3 marine Armor.

they didnt look right in the beta and the look started in HW1 not H2A

The H2A and HW2 look is an updated and slightly different model from HW1. There’s some small differences like the helmets are completely different and the shape of the chest armor plate thing.

Halo 3 Marines for the Win

Yeah they dropped the ball on that one

I feel like this is a big nit pick lol, the general vibe of marines is they were grey/green kind of looked like marines in aliens, which still holds true. the fact that different types of soldier (medic, grunt, ODST etc) is identified with noticeably different uniforms is a good thing IMO. ESPECIALLY for a RTS game.

I hardly ever used the marines in the beta and you can hardly see them anyway. It doesn’t bother me.
